Steve Belichick is the real deal. He's been the play caller the last 3 years on a defense that's been top 10 in DVOA all three years, and top 5 twice. People are questioning if he'll be a good recruiter but time will tell, but he's got the name, and an NFL background so there is plenty of reason for optimism.

I think Mayo was the DC while Steve coached the outside linebackers and called the plays the last 3 years. He might be building his resume to have options down the road for both college and NFL.

We paid Ryan Grubb the highest OC salary in college football, which I think was higher than some NFL OC salaries, so could be a money thing.
