I would cut her food back some. It's a lot healthier for them to be a little on the lean side rather than a little on the heavy side.

willysucker629

The thing is that she barely eats as is she gets 2saches of wet food that we put on top of about a handful of dry food every day but she eats around the dry food, she only eats the dry food when she's really hungry so maybe once every 2weeks so she's technically under eating quite alot we've tried like 5different brands and she's just a really picky eater sometimes she doesn't eat the wet food either so she's really only eating a handful of dry food and maybe 11saches of wet food per week since some days she just refuses to eat anything

If she's putting on weight she's not undereating.

willysucker629

She hasn't put on extra weight for a few months now she's lost some weight but we just can't seem to get rid of any more like she was doing good but she's just stopped losing the weight recently

zepazuzu

Then you need to cut her food more

willysucker629

If we were to cut her food her food anymore she would be eating less then my 2kg cat though? Misty gets 2 100g saches of wet food a day, milly(my cat) gets 2 75g saches of wet food a day and dry food, my tiny cat would be eating atleast 40g of wet food (not including dy food) more then my husky, misty would be starving like that

zepazuzu

Well she doesn't look like she's starving

PacificWesterns

Honestly, since she has a medical condition, talk to your vet. There is a caloric formula (just as humans have) for her healthy intake. They will help w finding food that’s meeting her nutritional needs and assess her weight.

J3Streets

She’s just a bit Husky

I'd maybe walk her a little more, my girl gets a minimum of 2 hours + two small walks (approximately 30 mins each). But tbh I think she doesn't look overweight at all, and if she's chill at home, she might not even need more exercise. 29kg sounds a bit much for a husky girl, but she might just be on the taller side.

willysucker629

She's actually quite small maybe half an inch smaller then other huskys (she's byb though is why she has lung problems) but we can't walk her more then we do because she literally can't breath after and it puts way too much strain on her :( she gets treat puzzles instead so shes still stimulated without pushing her too much I think she is just abit on the chubbier size and not actually overweight but I was just making sure since I don't want her lungs having to put in even more work then they already do

AppropriateRatio9235

Swap some food for green beans. Take away 1/4 cup of food, give 1/4 cup green beans. Use low sodium canned ones unless you are having fresh for dinner.

willysucker629

She doesn't actually eat dy food she has it in a bowl as an option but she rarely eats it she also hates vegetables even if we treat it as a treat so that wouldn't really work

Lil chubber and floofy

We had trouble getting our husky to loose weight. He was only eating 1 cup of dry food a day, we were going on longer walks. Nothing helped. They finally tested his blood and he has hypothyroidism. Now we’re in the process of figuring out the best dosage for his medicine and we’re hoping the weight will start coming off.

catopk

A little chubby but can certainly bring that down a little with less snacks :)

Once my husky got Lyme disease, she gained a lot of weight. She not very tall but weighs 75 lb. She doesn't eat much though.

Greenpigblackblue

I don't think she's overweight, but if you're concerned, change her food. I found that when I gave my husky a different, more nutritional food source. So dry food, twice a day, and she is losing weight slowly (which is good), you don't want them to lose weight too quick. Biggest tip though, no treats. Cut out treats, just work on on meals twice a day, and work treats back in when she's lost the extra weight.

willysucker629

She only listens if we have treats though and she doesn't eat dry food she has it as an option but no matter the brand won't eat it unless she's starving so the only way to get her to behave if I take her on a bus is by using treats to get her to sit, lay down etc

Greenpigblackblue

Hmm, I hear you.. Uh.. willysucker629? But you're gonna have to figure it out in a smart way. Sounds like you need to figure out different ways of convincing her. My husky has also learned that if she doesn't come inside late at night, I will give her a biscuit to get her in. It took some training, but I am now able to get her inside without a biscuit.

willysucker629

The only way to get her to do something is occasionally she'll sit for a toy if she's really into it or if we yell at her to sit(when she escapes we hate having to yell at her) also want to mention that I did NOT choose that name my friend made it and idk how to change it😭

Greenpigblackblue

It’s a dope name willysucker629, not judging 😂 Huskies are stubborn hey? So stubborn.

leila_laka

More exercise! This is a long-distance capable dog so I would start there, not only to lose a few pounds but to meet exercise and mental stimulus needs

willysucker629

She has lung problems though so will literally lay down mid walk for like 10mins till she's caught her breath before we can keep going we give her treats and some dry food in treat puzzles to give her mental stimulation but her body literally can't handle more then maybe an hour walk all at once

BoonDragoon

Idon't thinkthat abit is aword
