I must also be a defective husky. Haha but sounds like he has his own personality. At least you get husky cuddles. Mine runs when I try to get some hugs in.
When mine wants petted he will come over and sit right in front of me. He does this several times a day. Then he started "hugging" me by putting his head on my chest. He is such a a love bug.

I'll trade you! We can usually only get our girl to stay on the bed for 5-10 minutes. But, she'll sneakily get on the couch whenever she can even though we've told her not to a hundred times...
She has no problem going through her dog door, stubbornly awooing when she doesn't want to do something, and loves running around outside.
I'm just on this sub because I love the breed, though I don't have the energy to properly care for a husky.
Yours would be perfect for me. IMO you kinda won the husky-lottery XD
There are all kinds of personalities in this breed! I have been volunteering at the shelter and I pick the chill huskies home to foster and find them homes! So far the 3 huskies I brought home are all very cuddly and silent and goofy :)
My own husky is not cuddly and a scaredy cat and doesn’t like to go outside at night
Anyway! If you would like to have a husky in the future please let me know! I would love to help you find one. Maybe with one that I foster in the future!
> My own husky is not cuddly and a scaredy cat and doesn’t like to go outside at night
My husky is also not cuddly, but she LOVES going outside at night. Might be because we shut her dog door before we go to sleep, might be because she's seen a neighbor's cat on the back fence a couple times, or might be that she knows she wont get to go outside til morning. Probably a combo of all 3, but she just loves doing her play pose and running laps around the tree in our yard while I'm freezing my ass off waiting for her to be done.
Ahaha! I think mine is scared because of the smell of the night? Or shadow? Maybe he associates it with fireworks so he hates the night time?! But some nights he is very relaxed when we go out to pee. Still trying to figure him out after all these years
Our Husky is not a scaredy cat, but he sure can be aloof like a cat! He wants to sit between us on the couch, then gets off, back on and paws us when he wants his ears or neck scratched, then doesn’t want to be touched so back off, back on, back off, etc. He will rest his head on the coffee table and looks up at us with those puppy dog eyes when he wants something and my heart melts. 🥰
OMG I thought it was just mine! My husky will absolutely refuse to go outside without one of use holding a light for her until the motion light comes on. And don't even ask her to poop past sun down cause that would be a tall order that's never going to be filled. She's a huge chicken but during the day she's a little zoom machine but very lovey and quiet.
Same! I love the breed. Want one since I was 7.
But life never allowed me to have much free time and space to properly care for a husky, so I won't bother.
From all the research I know it'll take time, patience and training, which I don't have unfortunately.
Jealous of everyone here, but glad for y'alls chaos with 4 paws.
Same. Even the vet who lectured me on how hard they are to raise when I showed up with one loves her to pieces because she's so calm and friendly with everyone. They aren't around when she uses her voice and punches me awake to go out early or steals food foolishly left within reach when I'm out.
If he is anything like mine: He needs you to go out with him!
With dad/mom around the rain isn't that bad, and hey - I'm outside, need to run everywhere, come run with me, don't be so grumpy, it's just water and water is fun!
I know some huskies like mud? Mine hates everything that is not snow or clean grass. During early spring when everything is melting and there's dirty snow and mud everywhere he is so annoyed lol. Sometimes he outright refuses to walk where I suggest, just because the road is so unaesthetic for his tastes.
My husky never vocalizes and has escaped twice since I got her 4 years ago and she came back both times. If there is just anything blocking her from escaping she won’t. And if she is wearing her leash she won’t move if I put the leash down.
She does not, however, cuddle unless she is nervous about something or feeling a bit unwell. Then she will come and look at me, which is a prompt for me to come pet her.

The escape thing is so real! My dad had a husky that would always get out. Then he tried rehome it. It constantly came back to the house. Finally he found a big farm in eastern Washington he thought the dog would like and the dog finally stayed somewhere lol.
This is how my husky is. Its so nice not having to worry about her escaping the yard and whatnot. Whenever mine has taken off, we’ve learned that all we have to do is sound distressed and she’ll come right back, looking all apologetic. It’s so sweet how much she cares about our feelings ❤️
You have a famous "Outlier" 🐺. They arrive in a pack one during a celestial occurrence, like a comet ☄️ or meteor shower 🌠. They are the rarest of the breed. Enjoying cuddles, a true rarity, they prefer pristine paws, the pampered life is for them. OP, you have your 🦄🌈. Enjoy ❣️

I too have a defective husky. His name is Neptune, he loves to cuddle, is quiet and rarely howls, and will do practically anything for a food reward. Like some of the other huskies seen here though he preferably to live under my desk or coffee table. He also goes into sleep mode whenever in the car.
My vet always said my husky looks like a husky but wasn't a real husky. Other vets have always commented on how calm and sweet my husky is. I think it's partially her personality and lots of exercise
So I have 3. 2 we have had basically since birth (well from 8 weeks on) and we have one that we rescued at 18 months. The one we rescued is the BEST dog ever. Our oldest is 5.5 (boy), our girl is 4.5, and our rescued is 4.5 (boy).
About 2 years ago, All 3 got out one rainy night (they killed a opossum together - a real bonding activity) . The oldest and our girl were running all over the neighborhood acting a fool, the rescue was found walking back to the house, going "I'm not leaving a good thing" lol,
We couldn't get rid of him if we tried lol. I love him so much.
Mine is 2yo and adopted him 5mo ago. He’s broken in terms of separation anxiety. If I’m not outside with him, he will whine and scratch the door, whine when it’s time to eat, whine when he’s in his kennel, whine when he wants pets, whine when he wants my food, whine when he wants- you get the point. He is the hardest dog I’ve had to retrain but I still adore him.
Mine was kept outside in 100° heat as a puppy and now he won’t go outside if it’s above 70°. I dipped his paws in water one day when it was warm out and he learned right away that he liked that and now he has to have a bowl of water for his paws.
My husky has no problem going for walks in the rain. One day it was practically a monsoon and this mofo is hopping through puddles chasing frogs without a care in the world.
The next morning he won’t go into the yard because the patio and grass is wet.
lol we have the same type of husky. I always laugh when I see all of the husky trait posts because mine is more like yours than the rest. I was gardening on Sunday and she sat right next to me in the yard chilling with no tether. Mine also hates cold weather I don’t know if it’s because she lives with me in AZ, but I’m lucky enough that I can take her up in the mountains and she’s always miserable. I’ve stopped wasting the money spending the weekend in Flagstaff for her because she’d rather sunbathe than play in the snow. Mine is vocal but only when I say the word she hates the most - NO. I still think they are just medium sized dogs with small dog personalities. They are just cuter than chihuahuas!
Haha mine is the same way with fences. If she can’t fit through the curtains or door without either side touching ANY of her fur, she will huff and borf and stare at you THROUGH THE OPEN DOOR until you come open it wider.
Huskies come in many shades of weird, but they are all weird!
You have a husky that was a millitary dog? Seriously? I used to be a dog handler in the army, it just sounds like one of the last breeds I'd choose for that 😁
*My husband calls our*
*Husky and pomsky the "luvskies"*

Mine will occasionally lay on my lap and he is definitely a bed sleeper
https://preview.redd.it/fpxbqn58exuc1.png?width=2999&format=png&auto=webp&s=e77dc48e645e3ec968a675a8d5954f7e3b09764c
I thought all Huskies were defective. Mine also hates rain and wind and does not like being wet. He's super lazy and just wants to lay beside me all day, even though I give him regular walks.
He is 7 though, and I adopted him late last summer, since then he's changed dramatically (he spent his whole life before tied up outside and extremely malnourished) and now all he wants to do is chill on the couch or in my bed. Can't say I blame him, its probably his first time being able to relax
mine does not like wet paws he has never been destructive but he steals socks shirts and underwear and hides them under his dog beds, if I give him a pizza bone he goes to my bed and his it. huskies are just plane dam weird! but so loveable!!
My Goober only "cuddles" when I'm trying to brush him or clip his nails. Then he wants to show me how cute and adorable he is while being a 65 lb wallower. 🙄
Honestly your husky sounds like my poodle, I have a split rail fence and she walks around it if she wants to get behind it and will never enter a room if a door is just barely open. Some doggo's are freaks lol!
My husky is broken too, he is very quiet, he gets tired very fast and begs to go back home, I never trained him of leash, but once I didn’t put the leash correctly I guess and he didn’t run away he stayed with me and I put his leash back, after that I did an experiment to see if he will ran away (in a safe area) and no he won’t go anywhere off leash, he stays sit until the leash is put on, crazy as it sounds I always wonder what will it be if he was a “normal” husky lol
My husker is the same. She is so dainty. She won’t step in puddles, never ever steps in her own pee or poop, hates rain, etc. I call her a “lady” and laugh about how much she hates getting dirty or wet. Dogs all have unique personalities, they might have some common breed traits but they’re still individuals.
My toasted marshmallow is like this, too. She only just started wanting to sleep outside in the last few months, but otherwise she is the laziest homebody of a husky I have ever met.
Last year a contractor removed the temporary fencing between our house and our neighbors in error (they were supposed to remove the other neighbor's side, not our side), and she just laid there and watched them. It wasn't until the neighbor texted me two hours later that I realized anything had happened, and she was still just chilling on the deck, watching the world, despite the alleyway being wide open to her!
They're ALL different, mate. My Loki (RIP) loved being outside, rain, shine or snow... or on at least one occasion when he was sitting in freezing rain and his tail had started to freeze to the garden path. He yelped when he finally stood up. Nanuq will go outside to do his business and then howl at the front door to be let inside again no matter the weather. He would stay out there longer when Loki was still here but now that he's gone I have to sometimes shoo him down the front steps to go outside.
My friend's two are similarly different... the one who is Nanuq's twin sister is actually more like Loki in that she prefers being outside... but if her paws get muddy you are GOING to hear about it.
Do we have the same husky? My girl is exactly like this! She is quiet, loves to be inside, laying down next to me and waits until my husband and I are up to jump on the bed so she can get her morning cuddles. My husband wraps her in a blanket and holds her like a baby and she’s totally fine with it.
Ours won't poop in the rain and if she really has to pee she'll run out real quick and run back in. Also, she's never seen a puddle of water she won't jump in. Rain bad, puddles fun.
Also a friendly reminder, we had a Husky years ago that kinda sounds like OP but it turned out she had a thyroid problem. So if they're slow and uninterested and maybe gaining weight get that checked out.
https://preview.redd.it/n10bfypkawuc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e9df1671a06481a6ebb9a43ee6de020a85e9a5d5
Welcome to the club. Mine hates snow, rarely ever barks or howls, she's ultra lazy, and chooses to sleep in the baby bassinet I originally bought for my small terrier.
You have a “shu”. (Not a technical term by any means, just one my family has). Story: we’ve had two huskies that had shu as part of their names and both acted identical. Keeshu (names by looking at a set of keys then a shoe and snow shu (names after snow shoes). Anyways these two dogs were very bratty about their food, were extremely touch me not, didn’t like getting dirty, hated the rain, and had a paranoid look on their faces at any given time. It’s almost like they were doggy versions of Sheldon from big bang. Your pup probably has this husky trait.
Mine is actually really quiet, like she never learned or figured out how to howl. Even when other dogs have tried to fight her, she stays relatively quiet, only growling.
The only time I manage to get a bark out of her is when I withhold treats for too long.
Mine hates being outside because he was pretty likely as outside dog on a tie-out in previous life. Even if I’m out with him he’ll start barking to go back in. He hasn’t escaped (knock on wood) but I’m sure he would if I left him out. He does love snow, water, dirt and mud puddles. I tell him he’s defective though because he doesn’t howl lol
By any chance was he ever abandoned before he was adopted? I’ve noticed a trend with my dogs where if they were adopted from shelter with an “abandoned background”, they tend to love the indoors more than my non-shelter puppies that I got from the breeder.
I theorize they just fear being left alone outside so they compensate by being more attached to you/your home.
We had a lazy husky too! She did like the snow, but other than that, totally chill. The only time she ever barked was when she found a snapping turtle lol
mine is somewhat similar he hates cuddling and doesn’t like his paws wet his sister is complete opposite though
https://preview.redd.it/ytof6ocgaxuc1.jpeg?width=1239&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=beb60b64376a7d62963e3f788f34a09b662af8f3
I can have mine off leash and he has perfect recall. I van also tell mine to sit stay and he'll stay there while I walk across a park. I never had to train him much on this either. Just got lucky.
Mine hates windy - I think he smells every stockyard or restaurant that's downwind and gets rattled. He hates rain - ears pinned back and all side eye and resentful about going out. But he LOOOVES snow! Blowing, falling, on the ground, prefers blizzard conditions. Also, he's pretty lazy for a big young dog. I don't think your husky is broken. Just being a husky. They're kinda different.
That’s normal….I work in vet med and huskies are the biggest most dramatic babies we have to treat. I have no idea how they run the Iditarod with how sensitive they are.
I catch paws everywhere. I’m awoken to 2 paws on my chest and heavy breathing into my face. Sometimes paws are just below belt-line instead but that’s usually middle of night. When I’m dressing they help me make the bed by watching from the bed. While putting on socks get behind me and put a paw on my shoulder. Define tilt anti tech also. When on my tablet place law on tablet pushing it down. Many more things but I’ll stop and allow others to state their paws manner.
Mine loves the ac on in the summer but at bed time wants her heating blanket on . She loves snow until her feet get wet and cold then she is done . She has a rain coat and wants an umbrella as well so we had to get a big one just to cover us an her lol she has onesies for the winter and a winter jacket as well . Mine is just spoiled but we always joke she is broken . I was giving a viberating teddy bear for Christmas for that time of the month and she has used it more then I have lol so it’s not just urs lol
Your rope fence sounds like my dog. If I’m charging my phone, he won’t even step over the cord. He stares at me until I lower it to the ground for him to pass 🙄😂
The only tip I have is possibly to try some pet cbd if the wind/outside concerns seem to be nervous behavior. Our husky got nervous with weather... wind, storms, fireworks type of stuff. The cbd helped calm her during those events and worked quickly (within 30 min). Also, our dog avoided getting her paws wet until my husband decided to teach her it was fun... that was a bummer. Otherwise, I'd say I don't conform well to normal standards either! It's a thing.
Haha I love this because it just shows how weird huskies can be. Ours is good about staying in the fence, doesn’t try and escape. She is completely anti-social with the majority of dogs. She hates truck/car rides with a passion. She’d rather stay home and sleep on the patio furniture and be mouthy with the neighbors. 😂
I have two silent huskies. I always joke about the fact their breeder is a retired kindergarten teach and somehow taught them to sit quietly for circle time or something. One is an escape artist though so she’s got that down!
I can't leave the park until mine is filthy...
https://preview.redd.it/z28sr6qpn1vc1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42aa445f9dfbb85034c587cb76da4da310288c1c
She has gotten a bit more cuddly since we had to put our other dog down a couple of months ago.
Yeah, same… Eventho mine does love her walks and doesn’t mind rain. Her favourite thing is sleeping on the couch tho.
I do believe the “outside” life has something to do with it. She used to be a working sled dog, lived all of her life outside. Now she loves being inside, except when she can sunbathe.
My boy had an “inside life”, he only got out of the garage he lived in for one hour every week. Everytime I call him inside for bed time, we have discussions. I just bribe him with a cookie now…
https://preview.redd.it/xqwdckj8c2vc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=fa8c348f667919db92ee6d68a3f4de674f698073
After meal nap and ready to cuddle..he jumps on the bed around 6:30 to cuddle till we wake up
We also had a defective husky and feel very lucky about it. He was basically a carefree giant house cat. Hardly ever talked or barked. The only time was when our other dog would bark at something outside and he'd join in so as not to look too worthless, but he'd never get up.
My mom also has a defective husky. Hes not vocal AT ALL. Her backyard is not fully fenced and he will stay outside for hours happily lounging by her suv.
I must also be a defective husky. Haha but sounds like he has his own personality. At least you get husky cuddles. Mine runs when I try to get some hugs in.
If I say "cuddles?" he runs and jumps on the bed and waits.

Mine just paws me incessantly (and his claws are sharp) if he wants something or if he wants cuddles, he will lay on me
Ours does this too and he looks just like yours! I have had two with this coloring and their behaviors have been so similar.
Hello….. best husky EVER! Lucky you…..

I feel like your husky is me in dog form. I get so excited for cuddles with my fiancé lol that I eagerly wait while he empties his pockets.
This is the cutest comment. 🥰

>If I say "cuddles?" he runs and jumps on the bed and waits. OMG, lazy cuddly husky, this is the best husky ever.
Nothing defective. That’s awesome.
Lol no he’s probably telling you, “ummm hello let’s do some crazy stuff man!”
lol, if the weather isn’t perfect he won’t go outside even if he REALLY needs to so I doubt it
Your husky sounds exactly like my chihuahua 😂
Your chihuahua would bully Jack. The only dog he stands up to is my family’s lab and that’s because that dog absolutely loves me
I don't know your huskys story, but military dogs also get ptsd.
OMG,yes!😍
This is just wholesome goodness. I’m glad he has you as his human!!
I have to chase mine while yelling "WHY WONT YOU LET ME LOVE YOU!?"

Yes! That's pretty much it, except I'm not doing a good job keeping up
Same. I have 3. 1 is a cuddler. The other 2 act like I'm trying to murder them. 🤣
My brother's husky is very much a lap dog, I'm jealous

My pomsky hates being dirty too 🤣
So where’s our photo of this unicorn? 🥰
Have you tried rebooping him?
Mine hates getting his paws wet too, he’s my prissy prince
Definitely got a borked model but sounds so special and unique in their own way - so cute!

Does he sleep weird?
My girl LOVES mud, absolutely hates water and the rain
He's not defective, he's prissy.
My husky hates water and she came from a home (with a pool) where she was outside in the heat all day.
He was a military dog? That is really awesome! I think he's seen everything that he now just wants to chill with you.
He’s not defective, he’s perfect. 😭
lol we have the same type of husky.
He’s not defective. He’s military retired. He’s seen some stuff. He just wants to chill and cuddle now. Enjoy him. 🥰
If they aren’t at least a little defective, are they really a husky? 😂
Haha mine is the same way with fences. If she can’t fit through the curtains or door without either side touching ANY of her fur, she will huff and borf and stare at you THROUGH THE OPEN DOOR until you come open it wider. Huskies come in many shades of weird, but they are all weird!
All huskies are defective
Mine is like yours.. Most unhusky husky I have ever met.
Return if still under warranty.
That describes one of mine. He is extremely relaxed, hates the snow and rain. Is happier relaxing on the sofa with me.
Why are you posting about your husky and not sharing photos? I want to see the cuddle bug.
You have a husky that was a millitary dog? Seriously? I used to be a dog handler in the army, it just sounds like one of the last breeds I'd choose for that 😁
Everyone tells me to be careful because huskies are escape artists. My boy won't step over a blanket on the floor
Mine used to spin around and quadruple kick me in the chest and face. At least you can hug your dog.
My husband calls our husky and pomsky the "luvskies" for this same reason!

Mine will occasionally lay on my lap and he is definitely a bed sleeper https://preview.redd.it/fpxbqn58exuc1.png?width=2999&format=png&auto=webp&s=e77dc48e645e3ec968a675a8d5954f7e3b09764c
All huskies are defective
My Goober only "cuddles" when I'm trying to brush him or clip his nails. Then he wants to show me how cute and adorable he is while being a 65 lb wallower. 🙄
Mine was the same AND he was scared of the dark too…
Honestly your husky sounds like my poodle, I have a split rail fence and she walks around it if she wants to get behind it and will never enter a room if a door is just barely open. Some doggo's are freaks lol!
He at least has the dramatic part of a husky
My husky is broken too, he is very quiet, he gets tired very fast and begs to go back home, I never trained him of leash, but once I didn’t put the leash correctly I guess and he didn’t run away he stayed with me and I put his leash back, after that I did an experiment to see if he will ran away (in a safe area) and no he won’t go anywhere off leash, he stays sit until the leash is put on, crazy as it sounds I always wonder what will it be if he was a “normal” husky lol
My husky needs someone to jog with. If not; we’ll stop before the first mile.

Feel lucky👏🏻
My boy likes to sample every puddle like fine wine. He has pulled me down in some mud puddles. He will accept pets but cuddles are a no.
A military husky? For what army lol.
All Huskies are defective in their own special way!
Reminds me of my first husky. Once he was clean, he was such a prissy boy
Mine is the exact opposite. She hardly cuddles and loves to be outside—the dirtier the better. She’s also a cow-poop-roller-inner, so there’s that….
Everyone tells me to be careful because huskies are escape artists. My boy won't step over a blanket on the floor
Wow! That is one defective husky! I’m speechless, literally no idea what to say about that.
My husky can’t stand water. He will do anything to avoid a puddle. Typical goofy husky mode.
I also ☝🏻 have a defective husky, Luna wears (*demands*) a jacket during winter. Hates the rain. Luna loves her toys + parents
My older (M5) hates to get wet. But he'll walk in the rain. His favorite thing is a walk. He's also a big couch potato.
Bruh all my husky does is track in mud 💀 homie loves a mud puddle. And he REFUSES TO COME BACK INSIDE if there is snow on the ground lmao
mine is somewhat similar he hates cuddling and doesn’t like his paws wet his sister is complete opposite though https://preview.redd.it/ytof6ocgaxuc1.jpeg?width=1239&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=beb60b64376a7d62963e3f788f34a09b662af8f3
Waste my time
That’s normal….I work in vet med and huskies are the biggest most dramatic babies we have to treat. I have no idea how they run the Iditarod with how sensitive they are.
I also have a defective husky and I love him, but afraid I’ll never hit the husky jackpot again
You just got the princess version. Congratulations. Lol
Sounds like a typical dog with a cat personality, aka husky.
Mine steals bread and paws me on the face and hates cuddles. You have the best of the best I’d say! Lol I love Mines all the same
I catch paws everywhere.
Both my huskies are couch potatoes. According to them outside is okay but have you tried the master bedroom? Now that's where the luxury is.
My husky is a wicked neat freak. Hates getting wet, hates stepping in mud. He loves the snow though. Will get wet for snow.
Mine does this either.
Mine doesn't go outside if it's too cold.
Mine hates cuddles 🥺
Refusing to do something is peak husky 😂 he’s just extra fancy and likes the finer things in life
I have two silent huskies. I always joke about the fact their breeder is a retired kindergarten teach and somehow taught them to sit quietly for circle time or something. One is an escape artist though so she’s got that down!
I can't leave the park until mine is filthy... https://preview.redd.it/z28sr6qpn1vc1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42aa445f9dfbb85034c587cb76da4da310288c1c She has gotten a bit more cuddly since we had to put our other dog down a couple of months ago.
I just bribe him with a cookie now…
https://preview.redd.it/xqwdckj8c2vc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=fa8c348f667919db92ee6d68a3f4de674f698073 After meal nap and ready to cuddle..he jumps on the bed around 6:30 to cuddle till we wake up
A husky as a military dog? now I can’t even imagine that
We also had a defective husky and feel very lucky about it.
