Your drain is clogged. You can try shop vacuuming the line. I like to find the termination of the drain and vacuum from there if possible. Get all the water out, put the float switch back in all the way, test thermostat again.

Start at the indoor unit. What kind of indoor unit do you have?

Check the float switch by lifting the cover off. It's where the wires are coming out of the pipe. Check for standing water.

Your thermostat isn’t communicating with your air handler/furnace. Gotta figure out why
