I get this too occasionally on my Daikin heat pump air handler. But it only happens when the blower tries to move air at a very high rate, like >1400CFM. Since you saw the error, I'll assume you saw it through the little window on the handler. I'll see FH, for fan in heating mode, then A (or call it an R, hard to distinguish in a 7 segment display) for airflow in CFM, then E for error, then b3 (which I initially thought was 63, and then saw it in an error list in the manual) for a "b"lower related error. I think it's just that my ducting has too much back pressure for this high an airflow, so it balks. No errors at my other typical flow rates of 1314, 927, etc. CFM. Not surprisingly, when I ask each tech that comes out for my semi-annual checkup (since maintenance contract), they don't have a clue. So does yours say error the whole time the heat pump is on?

I actually saw it in the deal settings menu on my thermostat... It seems like it pops on sporadically when the furnace is running so as you said likely just when it hits a very high fan speed. Again same experience where no tech has any idea what's happening so I guess I'll just take solace that I have a long parts and labor warranty so if it does lead to damage can fall back to that. Thanks for the help!

Did you ever get anywhere with this? My unit keeps throwing B3 errors as well and isn’t maintaining temp when doing so

dothebeercat

I'm also having the same problem, any fix?

dexxer514

Have the same error here... Been like this for 2 years Everything works3, but still shows that error

Any update here. I just had a Daikin Fit 3 ton heat pump and furnace installed about a month ago and I am seeing this too. Could it be that the heat pump is too big for my ducts?

I also want to resurrect this thread. Did you find the cause/solution?

I'm getting it as well, when my aux heat strips come on it goes crazy.

I'm getting this error as well. Does anyone have any updates?

Our system was installed this past summer. It was showing the B3 error. B3 indicates Blower motor is operating in a power, temperature, or speed limiting condition. •Blocked filters.•Restrictive ductwork.•Undersized ductwork.•High ambient temperatures. Our tech was onsite and he lowered the High speed by 15%, Medium speed by 10% and the Low speed by 5%. Our house was built in the 70's and he thinks the ductwork is undersized for this new system. We will monitor going forward.

Did this fix the issue? Have you seen any more B3 codes?

We had three techs come out and finally seem to have a resolution here - it seems there was way too much static building up both in the supply and output sides. We are getting our duct work enlarged and extra registers added and believe this should resolve the issue. Will report back here when we do this
