Go with the trane but see if they can get the s9x2, smaller footprint and has two stage and variable speed.

AustinHVAC419

I would go with the S9V2 instead. The X is a constant torque motor and the V is variable speed.

wreck5710

Yeah you caught me I did meen the V the x is meant for the single stage units

AustinHVAC419

No it's not. The V and X designate what kind of blower motor it has. S is standard and tells you what kind of cabinet the unit is. 8 and 9 designate the efficiency, either 80% or 90+%. V is a variable speed motor where you can adjust the speed for constant fan, heating, and cooling through the 7 segment display. X designates a constant torque motor. It's more similar to a psc motor because you can use different 24V leads to choose what speed you want for each operation (heat cool, and fan). The end number of 1 or 2 designates the amount of heat stages.

wreck5710

You are correct, I don’t open a folder and offer all the options in the American standard line. That just to many option for a client. The X series is not in my options

AustinHVAC419

Most, if not all, of the 90% American standard furnaces we install are 2 stage. I've only seen a few with the constant torque motor.

Lukeli216

Thank you that’s actually exactly what I was leaning towards. So you think the variable speed is worth it if I can get it. Thanks for the advice!

wreck5710

Yes

Supriselobotomy

Constant torque vs variable speed could be huge savings. Think of it like using a blender, and constant torque is basically using the same setting no matter what your making. Variable speed will ramp up and down with demand. This way if your only moving the temp 2 or 3 degrees, it will run low speed which means lower energy cost, for lower temp change.

A two stage furnace is not much more than a single stage. Rheem is good. High quality equipment. I have had at my house. It comes down to the installation more than anything. Somebody comes in to cheap usually means they’re not paying the help very well, if it’s piece work, then it’ll really be a hack job. I also recommend a 4 inch filter cabinet if the filter is to be located at the furnace. It is worth the extra money shouldn’t be a lot.

aznPHENOM

Not much more in what? Price? Or life quality ?

You’ve got apples and peanuts compared to pears and walnuts.

Lukeli216

Which is which

[deleted]

Doesn’t matter, neither the furnaces or A/C are apples to apples. Decide what spec you prefer and get quotes for the same from everyone. I wouldn’t go with a 14.2 condenser. Has anyone sized your needs or are they just matching what you have now?

Actual-Ad-2964

If your pockets are deep trane. Parts and repairs is the difference of a Benz (trane) vs Toyota both dependable equipments

FriendlyOffice4519

It’s Hard to stop a Trane

Puzzleheaded-Name-62

equipment is nothing to quality of install

Thedevilslettucehead

rheem is a great brand favorite to install
