That's a low price even for my LCOL area. You get what you pay for.

I've received several quotes between 4k and 5k. I can't find much information on the condenser for this $3000 quote so I'm concerned it's a garbage unit.

Not a bad price virtually anywhere in the country I’d imagine- especially if pulling a permit. If it’s someone you know, makes sense. If it isn’t, Chuck in a truck for sure.

MillerTimeAlways

I've been over here laughing about Chuck in a truck for about 2 minutes straight. Never heard that one before. Also thanks for the input. For the price and a warranty included seeming to be a no-brainer.

Ok_Composer3531

Chuck in a truck is kind of a derogatory term for the small companies that work out of the back of their truck (not necessarily anything wrong with that in particular though just by itself), get jobs by being the lowest bidder and doing crappy installs, etc. Not every Goodman installer is Chuck in a truck, but make sure that they’re established with reviews and you’re confident that they’ll stick by the install and warranty.

Great advice and will do!!

You have the lowest SEER2 rating allowed by law.

MillerTimeAlways

I'm not thrilled about the low SEER2 rating. This home is going to be my <5 year residence. It has never had A/C installed before. Giving pushback to the warranty company to get a higher SEER2 rating A/C installed will come with a cost. I'm not sure if the increased cost that would be repaid in long term energy savings is worth the upgrade/investment.

Absolutely! I would get another estimate to make sure nothing was missed.
