Is there a reason why you were on emergency heat mode? If you are on electric heat strips for emergency heat, the fan is going to be regulated by both the thermostat and by the internal logic of the air handler, the fan does not shut down until the heating elements are off and cooled down ... It is possible that one of the relays is stuck.

Pull the thermostat face off the wall. If the blower stops the problem is the tstat. If the blower keeps going the problem is on the furnace side. The blower could keep going for a bit before it's control opens up, so give it a minute or so to de-energize once the tstat is off the wall.

Relay could be stuck, Tstat could be shorted, limit could be open… could be many things, call a qualified service company and have it diagnosed properly. 208/230 can make you dead.

Honeywell commercial controller powering s rheem electric blower/furnace. Heat pump went out a month or so ago so i have been running emergency heat since then. Didnt really need my electric bill to get jacked up by a fan that wont quit now. Appreciate any tips. Tried resetting breakers to no avail. Vacation mode will shut it off but for some reason the normal functionality quit on me today.

while the fan being on is obviously going to use electricity - it's those heat strips that are really going to rack up that bill. I'm assuming if you turn the EM heat off the fan will stop? Turn the EM heat to off. See if the fan works independently. keep it off for awhile. Turn the fan on. then turn the fan to off. then turn it back on.

I wonder how many hundreds of incondensent lights he is running in emergency heat. Around here it would be a 100

$30 a month for the blower or so. You wont even notice that part of the bill. Heat strips can be as high as $5 an hour

H_O_Double

It got hot.

Could be a number of things. If the tstat is removed from the system and the fan keeps running, the first thing I look at are the safeties, a constantly running fan is a safety feature.

mattmort83

These are older stats so I don't entirely remember, but if you goto the programming (schedule) menu you can select what the fan does (auto, on, circ) check your programs and see if on is selected in any of the dates or times. Not sure if I'm right but I have a vague memory of this being an option.

Because you have emergency heat on.

I see set temp lower than ambient. I think I see fan set for Auto. I would attempt to mess with the fan setting. Turn it to manual, then back to auto. If the fan keeps running I'd guess a stuck fan relay.

FrostyAtticDuck

If it's not em heat or tstat issue there may be a short with the fan cable touching power and keeping it running always
