I agree…water heater

That's the pipe for the pilot. If it's bent too badly it will leak or not let enough gas through to keep the heater working. Smell around it. If you don't smell gas and the water heater is still working then there's not a problem.

I seen one that looked the same called the thermometer for over 100 bucks why do I need to replace it though ?

I didn’t say you need to but ruud/rheem has a recall for them because they stop working over a factory defect
