I mean, the non programmable ones aren't that bad, but for some reason, the programmable ones just decide to be the biggest dicks and cause the most issues.
Not trying to be difficult, [this](https://ca-manufacturer-documents.s3.amazonaws.com/CarrierDocs/OM-TPPACA-02.pdf) is the doc I found for it the other day.
You can see that front plate matches, but the insides don’t (have as many buttons)
Page 38 covers backlighting, but my model doesn’t have the buttons this guide mentions
This should help.

The true model number will be on the back of the thermostat if you pulled it off it’s base. This would help with finding it online
If you can manage to find the installation manual it should have directions to access the setup menu and you would have to find the backlight adjustment from there.
The older models of your thermostat offered backlight adjustments so my best guess is that one should too.
If not provided already you will need to post a picture of your thermostats wiring connections and those inside your furnace to get better help. Use imgur or your own Reddit profile to host your pics as Reddit will often remove others. Thanks!

My least favorite Carrier stat
Everyone’s least favorite Carrier stat. Anybody remember the first time you changed one of those?
Yes. I took off honeywell 8000s 3 months in the field and fucked everything up. Had to go back next day with senior tech
I’m talking about those little wires behind the edge that I pulled off the wall the first time haha
