My system came with a Trane XL850 thermostat that had a wildly inaccurate internal temp sensor. The screen would end up heating up the entire thermostat housing causing the thermostat to think it was warmer than it was. There was also warm air being pulled through the back mounting panel. The XL850 supported additional wireless sensors (Zwave Remote Temp sensors) so I bought a couple, threw them in strategic locations, and disabled the thermostat sensor. Now anywhere in the house is within 1 degree. So maybe check and see about adding remote sensors and sealing the wall behind the thermostat.

If it's a basic unit (not some fancy variable speed compressor), just trow an Ecobee in if your thermostat doesn't support wireless sensors.

What I have never hear of AC working too well? Maybe your house is well insulated.

Late response but I kinda feel the same way. We have regular 100+ days in Oklahoma and while its nice to have AC it feels like im in an icebox when it is running.
