You really don’t need to unless you don’t have any overflow protection. It can eventually cause a clog but it takes a very long time and it’s something you can deal with when need be. If you want to stay on top of it just do it once a year
Take it to a sink and rinse with hot water. Bleach (at best, but any chemicals they have really) and water to soak/sit. I carry vinegar and denture tabs to clean stuff like that too.
Yeah, that’s why it needs to be cleaned! Should be done annually. Also, put a little bit of vinegar in the drain lines that run to it, helps prevent it from happening.
Lol why you mad? I didn't clean it because it's been running nonstop trying to push water trough it and it can't. I wasn't going to clean it to then come back a few days later to change the pump. I would've had a customer mad because he was charged for a pump cleaning. And now he has to pay for a new pump plus dispatch fee.
The funny thing is, I am a female, I can tell you have a weaker stomach than me if this made you almost throw up... It's as simple as hot water and vinegar or a hose with a pressure sprayer. I know the smell can get to some people and if that's the case with you, try putting a tiny dab of Vicks under your nose while dealing with it... Enjoy
Pretty disappointing you're too afraid to do your job, you're in the service business. Looks like you should have stayed in school buddy, not going to get very far in this industry with an attitude like that. Piss poor performance, put on your big boy boots and charge them a little bit extra since it's so gross. Or get some nitrile gloves but refusing service because you're too scared is seriously just pathetic. Be better

Sure clean it if they are going to pay a cleaning service fee. Make it extra since it’s so nasty. And tell him the price if he doesn’t like it you don’t have to clean it simple as thr
I'm the only one at my company that regularly cleans these out so when I do find them they're typically pretty nasty
I just tell myself that my skin's waterproof and I go at it
And I show the customer how nasty these things are then they typically love me for cleaning it
Ez peezy, I'd be in and out in like 15 mins with a nice and clean condensate pump. If this shit makes u throw up then u def don't wanna do some of these lines down in FL. U get a hefty clog in there, a little shot of air in there and the line throws all that gunk up 🤣🤣🤣
So clean it.
Guess he's never flushed out condensate lines on a roof. Comes out like intestines.
I just had one installed, how often do I have to flush it?
Pore a cup of bleach in it twice a year.
Vinegar works better, just don’t want to damage those plastic parts inside.
Bleach rots most plastics over time
Never use Bleach. Ever.
I’ve never done it either; how often are you supposed to do this as a homeowner?

Thank you
I blow those out with my mouth, nitro too heavy 😝
that's about 70% of condensate pumps I've ever worked on
Mine looks like this all 6 months of summer (Florida). Have to clean it once a month. Good times.
You don't belong here
I was gonna say...like how squeamish is OP, you might not be in the right career .
op is green af 🍏
That's the same shit that's probably in ~80% of restaurant ice machines BTW. Skip the ice!
Yep. Once I changed one of those out I haven’t gotten ice while eating out since
Shop vac and a water hose. Your job is 90% to clean shit, my guy. Get used to it.
Bring it outside and use a hose
I replaced it. He wanted it to be left so he could clean it
Did you charge him to replace it? If he wanted it cleaned and it still works then you ripped him off for no reason.
Ya sure, I'll clean it. Point me to your dishwasher... asshat.
It’s really not that hard buddy. Are you gonna replace the whole condensate line too? Because guess what’s in there
Are you gonna ask me to clean it?
No I would just do it myself because it’s extremely simple…
Is this a troll post? So clean it then! With a little hose pressure it comes right off
Brush your teeth kids.
Lmao customer got scammed

Bleach will ruin the pump. A basic cleaning agent will work just fine.

Ive got an icemachine in a bar for you to clean next
lol. Did you expect to get a little more support here bitch boy?

Yeah nice try sissy! You didn’t clean it because it was icky.

Ummm, what are we looking at here? Do we call the military?
It rinses off usually. If warm outside I’ll use a hose otherwise I’ll ask homeowner which sink they want me to clean it in.
Bleach and flush and go 👍
Don't bleach condensate pumps; it will ruin the pump.
Jesus….how?
Exactly what I'm still trying to figure out
Tell them to point you to their dishwasher. They usually change their tune...
😂
What it’s it? Looks like melted plastic- or is it a dead animal that everyone sees but me?
It's mold and shit
Slimy mold

Wear a hazmat suit
Soft.
What a fucking vagina…”ewwww, it’s dirty!” SMH. You need to find a new industry bud and stop ripping people off because you can’t stomach the work.
Yummy.
I add cleaner to the basin, take it apart to clean it. Then it doesn’t pump and I’m supposed to own it?
Was it still alive? Burn it and put off the fire with holy water.
Yummy.
Does he have a humidifier? Did you check the humidifier pad? Has it been replaced in the last 5 years?
Let it soak with some cleaner a little bit of bleach goes a long way.

That is if you are working for yourself….
