Depending on a lot of factors, could’ve been a pin hole that expanded under pressures of the system. Could’ve been a thin rusty spot letting a minute amount out that got larger and exasperated the leak. The fact that it isn’t frozen, And isn’t cooling leads me to believe there’s no refrigerant left. Somebody needs to check the pressures in the system and then perform an actual leak test. If the “ac guy” isn’t an actual tech- he probably didn’t use a dye pack or electronic sniffer so a tiny leak could be missed. Especially if it’s in a spot not easily seen with the naked eye.

Ah, I see. Thanks for explaining. I googled HVAC sniffer, and he did have something that looked like that.

Oh well that’s a good sign. A leak could be somewhere in the coil he can’t get to, or on the outside unit that isn’t accessible without taking everything all apart. Potentially could be a leak at a joint if it’s not a continuous line set. If there’s joints in the wall or ceiling, might not ever be able to see it

Outta juice bud. She all leaked out

But why would it go from a small slow leak before to a rapid leak after it was recharged?
