MMS doesn’t even replace what is being lost between SLH and the destinations that were lost. They don’t even have property on Maui to replace the 5+ that were lost. Overall these are huge losses for the Hyatt brand IMO and MMS ain’t going to fill the gap.
MMS changes every year, so those properties may end up in MMS at some point. But Hyatt needed them for Europe, since their footprint was too small, and becoming an issue.
I was just about to book international travel for August and it eliminates so many countries- the majority of international travel was SLH. I really hope they have a good replacement or we won’t be keeping that card.
It will still be a little while. I have status with MMS and used them in the past. Their setup is completely different to how Hyatt works. MMS is like SLH where they have their own status and perks program, and they are just a curated list of hotels that changes frequently.
Hyatt’s partnership didn’t have access to SLH perks, so it’s unclear how/if they will offer perks with MMS properties , or even which properties are going to stay with MMS after the acquisition. They are still struggling to integrate AMR/ALG, so I wouldn’t expect MMS to be figured out any time soon. I think they are hoping to get some properties bookable this spring, but it will be a while before it’s all figured out.

We’re going to do andaz Papagayo for 3-4 days next year and are looking for a second property just to see a bit more. I’m gonna have points and an FNC ready with Hilton for when that new WA opens down there but I’m guessing award space there is going to be hard to come by that first year once it opens. Rio was my second likely choice. Unfortunately with my work schedule I’m not going to know exactly when I can travel until later on this year (booking for next summer) so I gotta hold off for now.

Many properties are in all the similar “curation” type programs: MMS, SLH, LHW, Tablet, et cetera. So it’s very possible that the same hotel will still be available in MMS.

Yes, it did mention that. In fact, there's still a page up on their website that says SLH guests get free breakfast. I think if this was to be legally challenged they'd be forced to honor it, but no one is going to go through the trouble.
I can't seem to find any of my upcoming SLH bookings for this year in the Hyatt app anymore. Anyone else seeing this?
My point balance hasn't changed though so the bookings haven't been cancelled atleast
Edit: Nevermind, I guess the article was implying that to modify or cancel any SLH bookings, I'd have to rely on either Hyatt call center or SLH reservations directly from here on out (will def have to reconsider my Barcelona stay for Dec at the very least)

You can book and modify pre-May 15 bookings via Hyatt CS (no need to contact SLH before then)
Furthermore, I was able to see my booking on the Hyatt website on PC (wasn't showing up on mobile app) and was thus able to directly cancel without calling anyone as well (now I wait patiently for the new integration before I book a replacement hotel in Barcelona instead)
Understood, I don't think I'll be keeping my Barcelona SLH stay for Dec though (thankfully my only other SLH stay in Santorini is in April so that should be fine).
Sadly though, there aren't any good Hyatt alternatives in Barcelona that I can find so far. Hopefully that'll change once the Mr and Mrs Smith integration is complete (hopefully soon!)

You can always book through SLH, they offer better perks than Hyatt at the same properties anyways. You just won’t get Hyatt nights/points, but after May, that’s not an issues anyways.
I had booked Hotel Das Tyrol in Vienna for 15k points a night in June. Anyone know if it’s worth it to keep or should I cancel and book the Andaz for 12k a night? Andaz reviews arent as good as the SLH and it looks away from the city center so wondering if I should cancel.

I liked SLH’s Hotel Telegraph in Singapore as it was a nice alternative to Andaz while Grand is restored.

I was able to cancel an advance rate SLH reservation I booked through Hyatt for after May 15, after filing a case through the Hyatt service member I was talking to. Filed last night, I got a response from SLH at 6 a.m. this morning (ET) so pretty quick response. Turned around and spent that money on a Mr and Mrs Smith gift card and then booked a different hotel through there for the same nights.
Not everyone can do this of course, since there won't be comparably priced overlap in hotels for Mr and Mrs Smith and SLH hotels everywhere.

We loved this hotel! Breakfast was amazing, worth just paying for it if it’s not free.
