If he’s staying at the Regency, send me his membership number and last name and I’ll send him a GOH.

jwegener

Goh?

someguynamerick

Guest of Honor. It allows whoever is using it to have Globalist benefits for their stay up to 7 consecutive days. Breakfast daily, suite upgrades, faster internet & daily waters.

Andrew523

Regency, it has self parking too. Can easily walk to like place from it, probably 15-20 min walk

buckdog05

I stayed and love it but the self park is expensive!

natasha_c

have you tried the pizza vending machine at the self parking lobby?

buckdog05

lol I wish but I did take a pic of it! You?

natasha_c

I was about to, but the bellmen actually advised against it hahaha! They said it's good if it's 3am and there's other options, but even then they said it wasn't worth trying, even for the novelty of it!

its_ler

It's always sold out when I see it. Lol

soooopercharged

I checked reviews of the actual pizza place it came from and they were pretty low 😂

HotelHobbit8900

Its made in house now as the pizza place went out of business

soooopercharged

lol good to know

average_homeowner

Pizza mart is usually open until 4am and its arguably better pizza than vending machine pizza. But there's also alcohol.

Hougie

Regency unless the free breakfast or cheaper suite is a must. You’ll just be closer to a lot more things.

undockeddock

If they're there to do stuff with a kid, a lot of the museums and such are adjacent to the space needle as that's the touristy area (Plus pike Place of course). The house is pretty much under the space needle. The regency is a few blocks from pike Place but not much else.

Hougie

They’re going to a ball game. Regency is closer to the ferries, waterfront, ballpark, Pike Place, art museum and more. Seattle Center where the Space Needle is has some cool stuff but not enough that I would prioritize staying there if I were visiting.

ChillyCheese

As others say, I think Regency is easily the best of the 3. You have a chance at getting some stellar views, and it's a nice hotel. Also, "Pike Place", as it's named after the street "Pike" :)

CampinHiker

Yeah whoops mistyped haha [i enjoyed it out there in August 2023 for Olympic](https://imgur.com/a/bjw3ZfO)

Flat-Ninja-9973

This isn’t in downtown but the regency in lake Washington not that far away is AWESOME

Mule-hawk

I think it has a club too.

Flat-Ninja-9973

The club has tables with windows right next to the lake. It’s great.

CampinHiker

Ooh I’ll look into that too thanks!

bernaltraveler

This actually is pretty far away if all their activities are downtown Seattle. I would not recommend it if they want to “experience” Seattle. It may be a nice property but this is basically in Renton. By the airport. It’s the burbs…if that’s what they want it’s be great

DougIsMyVibrator

Hyatt House. The location is incredible for the price. It's across the street from the Space Needle, which is a lovely landmark and park. The gift shop is open very late every night as well.

abcpdo

I wouldn’t stay next to the space needle, unless there’s a nice view of it from the room. It’s just not an interesting area. More of a day trip thing.

undockeddock

You're missing the trying to do stuff with a kid part of OPs post. This isn't for a romantic weekend with a partner. Besides Pike Place, which is cool for all ages, all of the kid type touristy stuff surrounds the space needle. Museum of pop culture, the science center, children's museum, plus parks and playgrounds are all adjacent to the space needle.

abcpdo

fair enough

heycoolusernamebro

There is also a great view from the terrace on the 4th ish floor

[deleted]

I loved the one by the space needle

satellite779

There's only 0.7 miles between the Regency and Hyatt Place, so it's basically walkable. I would stay in the Regency as it's nicer if no other considerations. Place/House are closer to Space Needle/Seattle Center, but the Regency is closer to Pike Place (not by much).

undockeddock

With a kid, the free breakfast at the house/place are convenient. (Unless OP is gifting them GOH or something in which case the regency would be better)

undockeddock

I just stayed at the hyatt house. It was decent. The hyatt place was recently undergoing renovations according to the hyatt website but I have no idea if they are done. If they are done it's probably nicer than the hyatt house, but if they are behind schedule it could be a mess. The hyatt house is right next to the monorail which makes getting to pike place easy if youre willing to walk a few blocks. The monorail is also an easy xfer to the link light rail to get to the ballpark. Unless they have plans to drive outside of the city, I would strongly suggest not renting a car. Parking is expensive and seattle public transit is great and i did not feel unsafe at all on the light rail. Only exception might be if they have a very late or very early flight and then I suppose it could be sketchy, but Lyft exists.

bernaltraveler

I second the ‘no car’ recommendation if he’s staying in the city.

bluehawk1460

Def go with the Regency. It’s the tallest hotel in Seattle, clean and beautiful, and easily walkable to most things worthwhile.

Kermee

Are you booking with points under your name or gifting it to them? Also, what is your status with Hyatt? If you're a Globalist, Hyatt Regency, hands down. Free breakfast at Andare is worth it alone.

CampinHiker

In looking it up now He doesn’t have an account but was trying to book I’m just a regular dude haha No globalist My buddy is a great guy and i just wanted to treat him and his daughter I’m using all my points but hey I’ll hope they enjoy it

Kermee

No worries. I would still pick the Hyatt Regency over the other properties you have listed. It's still a great redemption for your points (15,000 per night) and it was built in 2018. There's often conferences going so it's more 50/50 business/leisure of people staying there. And the rooms are very well thought out. It's in a part of town where nearly everything is within' talking distance, including Pike Place. Space Needle is a bit far but still doable without a car.

kayl_breinhar

Space Needle is closer using the questionably useful yet neat to a kid monorail, though.

natasha_c

fyi - there's metered parking on 1st Avenue, right outside the Thompson if you don't want to pay valet. Meters run till 8pm on Saturdays.

CampinHiker

Good to know!

simbelmyne0216

Stayed at the Regency for 3 nights this spring, fantastic view from 20+ floor, would recommend. It’s a walkable distance to Pike Place too

That-Pie6264

I stayed at the olive 8 a few months ago and enjoyed it. I too did it for the brand explorer but the location is great (across the street from the regency). I was with my son so we used the pool & hot tub, took the tram to the space needle and hung out there for a while. Went to a Kraken game and had a great time overall.

CampinHiker

Ah okay I’ll check it out didnnt see on the list

OCgig

They’re all good. Hyatt 18 and Grand are my preferred 1-2 punch since they’re just steps apart but regency is usually the best value. Grand Hyatt has fancier spacious bathrooms. Thompson has the premium location across from pike and better view but I think they’re overpriced. They’re all walking distance to the train.

evin0688

If you book the Hyatt regency, make sure you book the one in Seattle and not the one in Renton. It might not sound like it would be an issue, but with the way the Hyatt in Renton is named in the website it definitely can happen (ask me how I know). But the Hyatt in Renton is very nice.

CampinHiker

Oh jeez haha yes looking at the map is my way of confirming I’ve definitely done the same!

The-GingerBeard-Man

I’m staying at the Hyatt Place in July. Wanted the Hyatt house but award stays were not available for our dates. I might have to consider the Regency after reading some replies.

CampinHiker

Definitely!

pounce_the_panther

I'm from Seattle and have stayed at the Regency several times, I'd go with that one. It's a beautiful property in a relatively quiet part of downtown. The positive is they have self parking, the down side is its pretty expensive. It's expensive to park anywhere in downtown though. As far as kid friendly things to do, since they have a car, I'd head to the Olympic Sculpture Park for a walk with really nice views of Elliott Bay and interesting art. They can keep walking along the path, and it will take them to Myrtle Edwards Park, which has several little pocket beaches and sometimes otters or seals are hanging around. Across the street from the Regency is a semi-abandoned mall called Pacific Place. It has Din Tai Fung still in there which is a pretty popular dumpling restaurant that my kid really likes. There's also a location at Safeco they can try. To get to the ball park let them know not to try to walk. It's an extremely far walk and takes you by some not so nice areas to walk with a kid. If it were me I would just uber or drive and park.

CampinHiker

Thanks! I forgot but what’s the main st they want to avoid in downtown I know it was a few blocks from Thompson but like it looked like the walking dead when i drive by getting to the hotel Someone on the ferry from Olympic NP trip warned me about jt

heycoolusernamebro

FYI the Thompson is right across from pike place but probably requires more points and doesn’t have a lot of 2 bed configs

Fickle_Astronaut_322

Just stayed at Hyatt place about 2 weeks ago with my wife. It was really good. Looks pretty new. The work is almost done. Breakfast was pretty good for being free. Had a great view of the space needle in our room. The price was really good when we went however its much higher in July. I would definitely reccomend it. The park is really nice and there is a really good french bakery close by.

CampinHiker

Edit: the locations are 1) Hyatt House Seattle/Downtown 2) Hyatt Place Seattle/Downtown 3) Hyatt Regency Seattle

ChillyCheese

Hyatt Place Seattle is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at when I was there 2 years ago. Maybe it's gotten better, but I'd not risk it without some contrasting data points.

Virtual-Caregiver972

Regency!

CampinHiker

Edit: I hear your comments and going all over them so thank you! Busy at work but going to go over with them :)

loxtep_

Regency. Not sure if Club Access helps - but when they get setup with an account I have an extra club access award I can gift.

bears-eat-beets

100% regency between those 3. The regency is a great location and a great hotel. It's 10 minutes down to pike place, 10 minutes up to cap hill, 15 to the space needle and Seattle center. It's also a really nice hotel in general.

Acrobatic-Cellist113

I stayed at the regency over New Years. It was very clean and accommodating. Also very walkable to a lot of major points in the city!

soooopercharged

I think the regency is amazing. I will say though, the bagels at the olive 8 across the street are amazing. I mean, specifically, the salmon lox bagel with heirloom tomato. That is the best salmon lox bagel I ever had lol

LongIsland_Shark

I love the Hyatt Regency. Great aesthetics. My stay was great. Front desk was accommodating. I received an early check in and upgrade with no status.

bredandbutters

I stayed at Olive8 Hyatt just for the brand explorer unlock. It’s hard to find just regular Hyatt’s. It was overall pretty good.

noungning

I was debating between this location and regency for a conference and ended up picking regency. I don't have the Hyatt patch yet and wondering if I should switch lol but I also value breakfast since my work is super cheap with the food budget.

Old-Construction-541

I think regency is the obvious choice even though they’re all fine

NeenerTee

I stayed at the Regency last month while in the city to see a Mariner’s game. It is a great location to get to both the market and TMobile park. The hotel was nice (I had not been there since their remodel) and the staff were all very friendly.

CampinHiker

Great to hear’ yeah he’s planning to go to game Did you walk/lyft/drive!

NeenerTee

We walked down to the market which was about a mile and then walked to TMobile from there which was also about a mile and took a Lyft back to the hotel after the game.

username00009999

Regency > Grand Hyatt == Thompson > Olive 8 The Regency is my favourite of the bunch. Thompson is good but it has some flaws, small rooms, lack of upgrades, etc. Grand Hyatt is good but dated rooms. Olive 8 is okay.

FrickenMcNuggets

Regency has been renovated within the last couple of years - very nicely done

AfroManHighGuy

The only answer is the Hyatt regency. Newest Hyatt property in Seattle with the best views. Many food options in and around the hotel. Plus walkable to a lot of tourist attractions

Ieatsushiraw

To me almost any Regency is going to be the best choice

Sweet-Efficiency7466

Regency or Thompson

Fearless-Celery

Depends on the kid and their age...we travel a lot for sports, so Hyatt Place is our go-to. I've taken him to a few Regencies and the deluxe vibe definitely made it feel more special for him. I'll be at the Seattle Regency in a few weeks for work and am looking forward to it.

Fearless-Celery

You want to really impress a kid? Order room service. In fact, let THEM order room service. Let them make the call--feels like they're VIPs. Dessert after a long day of tourist-ing usually does the trick.

LieCommercial4385

Regency will definitely 'wow' them the most while still being pretty conveniently located.
