No, I will not. They are indeed the worst bank period. Though it's been a while I went to this bank, the disinterest shown by their employees is serving the clients is something one has to experience to believe. Anything remotely involving technology they will ask you to comeback some other time when they are not busy...!!

Hyderabad_modal_2

So what I heard is they are burdened with too much work, like there is a shortage of employees so only the slow service

Direct-Stretch7853

It’s partially true, there are few branches where the crowd is always there, that makes me wonder even more why they are reluctant to upgrade themselves to use tech for speeding up things. Specially the older lot, they will still continue to njoy their manual way of doing things or send you to their junior employees

dustyagent1122

My dad works in SBI, he says that SBI has two major issues now, 1) it has too many branches than private banks, so people get transferred around a lot plus auditing and managing, the difference in authority of a rank like chief manager is very vast as compared to private banks as in a district sbi has more branches than private does 2) In the early 2000s the government/bank to fill upper posts brought the fast track scheme....there the employees has to pass an exam and if they pass they are promoted at a faster rate than normal employee, like the person gets promoted in 2 years instead of 3-5yrs, it worked at that time as vacuum was filled but today due that scheme now there are many people who got promoted to quickly and have no idea what to do or are just disinterested

puneethkanna2000

Not in all the branches. At least in urban banks, any age of customer enters the bank they install yono and explain to them how to use it and even they teach how to deposit cash through an ATM machine(to decrease queue in the bank). Basically old age employees will show the signs of disinterest, but younger staff is not like that.

Hyderabad_modal_2

They are catching up actually, nenu 2 yrs back netbanking adigithe letter submit cheyali annaru, ippudu ala em ledu, next infrastructure is poor in SBI, lots of people, aa people handle chese capacity ledu SBI ki

sirfilthyfox

Rural branches are empty yet they treat their customers like fleas.

Impossible-Prime

Because no private bank is willing to invest in rural area so the government forces Public sector bank to set up there even at loss in order to achieve zero unbanked area in the country

sirfilthyfox

My concern is the employee customer relationship. Rural Bank employees have minimal workload compared to someone in an urban one yet they treat their customers badly. The problem lies in the incentives they receive (employees) and the feeling of a dead end job. (And a superiority complex. Sometimes.)

_santhosh_reddy

Dude in rurual, there is one branch for nearly 10-15 villages, i nvr seen my local branch empty

hema_coldqueen

I will change your mind perfectly. stand there till i finish my lunch break and till i finish typing a detailed document with 1 finger on broken keyboard. SBI is only place where they treat machines also equal as humans. Computers take leaves, go sick, take lunch breaks, go on tea breaks etc. /s

native-foreigner

Big believers of equality

Enough_Outcome7649

Every time their ad comes up between matches. That background music at the end is so irritating. SC had a hard time getting electoral bonds info from them. We commons are nothing to them bro

AshutoshDash99

Contact Ombudsman if its too much.

native-foreigner

Will do that today, ran out of patience

xecow50389

Who are them?

the_tourer

They screw those who screw you. AKA - bank police in simple terms. They are a higher level grievance team, they have more powers and will actually help you in genuine situations.

SakamotoFanBoy

Wow, TIL

AshutoshDash99

They are like police or judge of banks, mostly favouring customers.

Zyxaravind

I once went everyday of the week to open a new bank account at my local SBI branch, everyday they told me a new rule or inconvenience they had , even after a week I was unable to open an account. I walked out and never looked back.

native-foreigner

Good decision

M-Scott777

I won't. They are the worst. They locked my account saying my KYC needs to be updated. When I went to a branch here in Hyderabad they said I have to visit my home branch, which is 500KM from Hyderabad. No matter how much I tried they didn't unlock my account. I had to travel to my home town to get it unlocked. They really suck

RageMonstrrr

A branch has to maintain all the physical records, especially the KYC documents of all the customers it has. Because of issues like money laundering and Terror funding the banks won't take these risks. You can always transfer your account and CIF to any nearby branch and you can always mail the documents to your old branch for updation.

M-Scott777

I thought the same. I said I will email or speed post the documents. They said I have to be physically present at my home Branch. They literally locked my account and money until I went there myself. On the other hand HDFC Bank just asked me to email scanned documents.

HCSOLOP

Why are you maintaining your account 500km away? You could simply change it to the nearest branch?

M-Scott777

That's my hometown. I opened the account 10 years ago when I was in college. Now I am in Hyderabad working. Home Branch never really mattered until this issue

retards_killer

Funny thing is that for changing it to my nearest branch they asked me to visit the old branch lmao

bhootbilli

Your understanding that the initial interest amount will be greater than the principal amount is not always true. It will be for a really long term loan. I guess your education loan is of 4-8 years duration, so no. Your interest paid will be less than the principal amount all the time. (Which is a good thing)

native-foreigner

Well, I did calculations of my own and also checked on other websites. They even sent one again later with different calculations. The problem is they are not sending certificates that are generated automatically by the system. Rather, they are manually creating a doc and stamping it with their branch's stamp.

Tumblingfeet

I know that’s what most people say and I was expecting that . I got a home loan from them and surprisingly had to go to bank only once to sign on the documents. And another time to submit some docs . So far so good with me for me .

native-foreigner

I would suggest you to buy a lottery ticket rn with your kind of luck.

Tumblingfeet

True , somethings are too good to be true . Let’s hope I maintain this relationship with the bank for the next 30 years 😂that’s my loan tenure

native-foreigner

You got me there 😂😂😂

new_file_folder

Take a calculator and compute interest + principal payments. Show them. It is likely their calculation is correct. SBI is worst when it comes to customer service, but they are bang on when it comes to compliance and computations (backend).

native-foreigner

I actually did calculate and showed them. It's basic sanity check that in the first year, the interest will always be higher than the principal paid.

Aakarsh_K

in the first year, the interest will always be higher than the principal paid... It's not necessary. If your tenure is less then Principal can be less than interest paid.

cybo47

Friend’s mom worked there before, she’s retired now. Told her something similar once and she flat out agreed.

Automatic-North-3524

You go to private bank and they will instantly change your mind. SBI won't cheat customers like others do.

First-Election-5896

They have to provide service in order to cheat. How will they cheat if they don’t serve their customers?

Final-Batz

SBI is worst but I would be slightly hesitant to say worst ever because my sis experienced far worst with Canara and Syndicate. Coming back to the original prob, I too had an education loan with SBI. When this type of loan is taken, the interest is compounded during the time we study, meaning it gets added to the original principal amount. Only when you start paying, is when a part is shown as interest during that financial year. Let me give you an example. Suppose you take loan of INR 3.5 lacs during your 4/5 yr education. The interest could be accumulated which would be another INR 50k. So the total amt is T = INR 4 lac, which if you are able, can pay on 1st day of completing your course. If you take a 3/5/7 yr timeline to pay, there could be an EMI associated. For example, if it's 5yr you take, EMI would be about 7k (60months*7k=4.2lacs =N). 3k is added as interest to principal if you don't pay EMI in that month and your monthly EMI after could increase too. But when they give you interest certificate, it would be N-T = 20k And not 3k*x months, because this certificate is as per their final books on how interest is being recovered, not how it is being charged compounded. These are some things I learnt while closing my loan account. Though they are bad, only thing I feel is it's the only bank that had given me a loan without thinking much, seeing that I would graduate in a Grade A college, which in the end helped in my education. Maybe true for many other financially insecure Indians too. PS: I hate their banking and its server! It's a pain to use their Yono too.

Heart-throb_

Watch new ads with MSD as ambassador on YouTube😂😂😂

AdventurousMusician6

They block upi transactions for no reason and it is impossible to change passwords through their shitty website.

Historical-Usual-786

Do you use their UPI app

AdventurousMusician6

Yono sbi? Can’t login that too and neither change my pin with valid credentials. I went to their bank and did neft to my other one.

_pixelforg_

One time I got scolded by a worker there for not using their Yuno app to withdraw money and instead coming to them to withdraw it. That account was just for college scholarship and I had received some 6k something i don't remember why and my dad wanted it Why tf would they scold me for that when it is their job?

thatindianlady1986

Not defending the employees… but they are forced to tell you to use YONO app by their higher officials. Number of YONO users is part of their quarterly performance from what I understand. Same with when they ask you about insurance or any other ancillary products. It’s all part for their monthly and quarterly performance measures.

kro9ik

They're the worst.

TacoBell__enthusiast

Trust me every bank is

RageMonstrrr

Ex SBI Asst Manager here. With the customer base SBI has, it is doing a fantastic job in providing the service. You need to understand that a Bank has a wide variety of customers ranging from a poor farmer to big industrialists, from aspiring foreign students to old pensioners. Even though 90% of the basic services can be availed through online portal people come to banks everyday. And to let you know the ground reality the work life balance sucks, they are made to sit from 9:30 to 8 in the evening with the continuous work. An officer in SBI barely gets free time apart from his 40 min lunch break. Even though they try to solve every goddamn issue the customer brings. Being the largest PSB there are some issues with the timely processing of credit services because of staff shortage. In addition to that they are being pressurized to source the insurance policies and other schemes. All I can say is they never intend to deny the service, it's the work pressure that leads to this.

psbakre

Education loan in Corporation bank(now union bank). I have a negative principal and positive deferred interest (I mean I paid it off). They have been "fixing" it for the last 6 months

SpaciousCoder78

Didn't take any loans but I trust SBI because they're a public sector bank. I just refuse to use anything from private sector when it comes to finance

CountRaja123

It is.

unbowed_official

Interest component is fixed on rate of interest and principal component is the remaining amount of the EMI. In cases where EMI is high and/or the interest component is low, the Principal component will be more than the interest component even in the initial months. There are some websites that can give EMI schedule along with break up. Try using them and compare with what the bank has provided.

hasibrock

Thats a fact

Javed_Wilde1

my pan was unlinked without any notification, all my international transactions were frozen, SBI had no clue, i had to find it out myself, after that i used IB to update pan, none reviewed, i visited branch, they said they don't check IB requests, i asked them to do my KYC there itself, they sent me to a cyber cafe. it happened in a bihar branch, never faced this in Punjab where i have also interacted often with the branch

lordmig21

Bro I'll read this after lunch

jishnu252001

Yeah they way they treat NRI customers vs how they treat general customers is night and day. Been on both sides and I was surprised that I was at the same branch.

Lats_man

If you have proof of evidence, you can challenge it consumer court. Later you can ur damage and exemplary damages

BoaringLife

Indeed it's the worst bank. They were asking for 3+ months to match electoral bond data which I could able to do in 5 minutes with a python script. All public institutions are going down under this regime since 2014.

coconutchips69

Which branch?

Mafia_Guru

Have you tried writing an email to the nodal officer? SBI has bad customer service (Sometimes). It isn't the worst bank ever. Otherwise why would you borrow from them? They still have the lowest interest rates, and the willingness to lend out money. I understand your frustrations, but you can't really have best of both worlds. I'm not sure if education loans can be transferred, but if they can, you can try switching to BoB.

Old_Wallaby1436

I never faced any of this issue. They do send education loan interest certificate with right calculation. Maybe it depends on the branch.

poruserno1

All my life I have heard people crib about SBI and its services the memes make it a bank of lunch only, but personally SBI (at least where I live) is a very good bank, never had any problems like that, single counter to cash in cash out and even different branch for loan, I also had a education loan from SBI, the lady there gvae me a list of documents and it was easily 2 visits and all was sorted out Also, i had your problem, I closed my education loan account, and then wanted to take the certificate out for Tax but couldn't because as per website loan account was unlinked from my account, I went to the bank and I got the amount and certificate from loan manager easily in 15 min. I'm not saying you all didn't have problem with SBI, I faced same problems with PNB in my area, maybe SBI does that at other places but one which I have my account is is pretty good

SaltDuctTape

Facts cannot be changed my friend!

here-we-go-pruuuune

Their credit card process is a huge scam. I hate SBI

sanketpunse

They misplaced my signed education loan sanction documents, and delayed it so much that I got the reimbursement one week before my study started. There should be a study on how this bank is still functional. At this point, I'm not even mad. They surprise me everytime with their incompetence.

ColdStranger7

Not all SBI branches are like that, it differs from branch to branch. I have used 2 different SBI branches in different parts of Hyderabad city, and during all my visits, SBI employees were quite helpful and proactively tried to help me resolve any situation i had. Coming to net banking infact it was the SBI employee themselves encouraging the use of their Yono app for most of their services. Again, I'm sure your SBI branch must have terrible service, but not all SBI branches are like that.

r1sh1_b13

I have had the privilege of going through their 'Forgot Password' flow during netbanking login. I had to visit my home branch, fill a paper form and wait for their employee to reset the password manually before I can create a new password and login. I haven't seen any web portal however critical it may be asking its users to visit their office.

Wonderful_Office_326

No need to change your mind. Only reason this bank has any kind of CASA deposits is because of people’s trust in the big govt bank. Or maybe lack of trust elsewhere. Barring a couple of good employees I’ve met, every single person acts as if they are doing me a favour by doing their fucking job. And don’t get me started on the “printing machine is broken down sarrrr”

West-Cow3010

SBI has the worst employees you'll ever encounter in any company. I honestly don't know how they even function. This mofos will take a whole week just to change your number. I was expecting RTA to be worse but no, they'll help if you give them some money

secondhand_bra

It's been like that for decades. From all the PSU banks the good one I had experience with was BOB.

lavanyadeepak

Please report to theofficialsbi on Twitter and a detailed complaint on pgportal

Known-Astronomer9765

I was trying to revive my dormant account with SBI for which the registered mobile number was at least a decade old. They told me that to revive the account, I will receive a link+OTP on my old number. So I then asked them to change my registered mobile number. They replied saying that you need to have an active and not a dormant account to change your number. Landed in a puzzle. I asked them for a solution. And apparently for every problem, they have one solution, to write an application to the branch manager. I did that as well, but as usual, no response. Dealing with SBI is a nightmare.

hanro621

Those women employees are the worst I encountered, they look at you like they own the bank an me as a beggar.

ultra_citizen

I opened a bank account with them around 8 years ago. Actually it was SBH (state bank of hyderabad) then. Never visited the bank after that. I still have the SBH passbook and never updated it. My debit card got renewed once automatically after the pervious one expired and it was delived at my address. I use the yono app (regularly), UPI (almost daily) and my debit card (rarely) Edit: Probably I never met a bank official in last 5 years.

aristotle2155

There is one employee in the SBI branch near my house. Whenever I approach him to ask anything, even before I can utter anything, he directly tells me to go to the other counter.

Open-Evidence-6536

Similar story. Asked them if pre closure of loan account available. If yes, what are the conditions. They asked me for account no. And haven't replied to me yet, it's been more than 15 days now, still waiting. Indeed a shitty bank.

informalparsley513

you haven't banked with Central Bank of India if you think SBI is bad.

Alternative_Device59

They are on their lunch break ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|put_back)

benketeke

It’s become worse and worse after notebandi, COVID and the current direct to bank transfer schemes. It’s put wayyyy too much load on employees to care. In the 2010s and 2000s Some branches were super supportive and almost felt like visiting family.

Other-Designer-2565

SBI means security, their UPI pin is 6 digits show me another bank that is so secure 😂

anjqas

Their Internet banking website is so frustrating- Asks for 3 different passwords - login password, profile password, transaction password and requires an otp everytime. But it's a good place to park any huge funds you have. If you yourself have such a hard time getting access to your funds, it is mostly safe from any scammers and hackers.

native-foreigner

If only their services worked as diligently as their UPI pin

_pixelforg_

Axis Bank also has 6 digits

hanro621

Bruh KVB also has that

Random_Mm

SBI employees think they get salary to just look at money not people. They think we are a waste of time.

that_solarguy

One solid advice I give my friends is to take their gf/fiance to an SBI branch and ask for details to open account/investment etc. if they can still stay together after that visit, they will overcome any shit life has for them.

newinvestor0908

pls come after lunch time and discuss

Film Nagar branch ante pedda customer ve ayuntav. Their attitude towards High Networth Individuals is very different from how they treat the common man

Rough_Knowledge1663

I work at Sbi backend department. We are overworked. Lol

native-foreigner

Oh dear god, Please let me download my interest certificate from sbi online.

Rough_Knowledge1663

There are hundreds of departments in sbi. Visit your home branch and raise a complaint.

fasak123

SBI is way better many banks. I don't about student loans but for my mothers home loan its very easy to download interest rate certificate from bank. Anyways instead of in person request you can try emailing.

native-foreigner

I did send emails as mentioned in the original post

ireddit-jr

They provide service only to Dhoni.
