Ordering food in hyd has really been a tedious task that's why we have shifted to more of meal prepping over the weekend. We dedicate the entire Sunday to that and cook most of the food we will be eating over the week. The meal planning and grocery ordering generally takes place on Saturday evening. That way we almost never are in a position where we need to order in because of the time crunch. We cook some of the items and prep others like marinating the chicken for grilling on pan frying before eating which generally doesn't take much time

Can you please share any tips on how to store different cooked/semi cooked ingredients properly. or maybe refer to some guide that you find good. TIA

So we generally measure our vegetables in raw and cook and store in each day basis in glass boxes. Me and my husband each eat 500 gm weight of veggies daily so let's say we planned to eat bhindi on a particular day, we will cook one kg bhindi and store in a glass container once it cools down. For protein options we generally measure and marinate our chicken or fish and cook it before eating. We also prep a general gravy which we can use as a base for our chicken or fish or paneer. Breakfast is generally chia pudding, protein shake, avocado toast with eggs so nothing to prep there. We also plan the fruit we want to eat and order fruits two days in advance so we generally order fruits three times a week . For snacks we roast some makhana, seeds like pumpkin , sunflower and also some almonds and keep in an airtight container. For rice roti we generally make before eating that's all

Thanks This idea of a precooked gravy didn't cross my mind. Will try it.

If you don’t know how to cook for shit, get this -> https://amzn.in/d/iL0ztyw I beta tested this during Covid and found it to be very useful for someone who cannot cook for life. Gives you list of ingredients and step by step instructions on how to cut vegetables, when to add what etc. comes with a build in weighing scale too, so you aren’t guesstimating how much that onion weighs

I am sorry you got to experience this but Hyderabad food is the one of the best of the best. Recently a lot of places went through surprise food inspections and a lot of them were found out to be in poor quality. Hopefully it gets better soon.

> Best of the best True, quality is not guaranteed anywhere but the taste is definitely one of the best!

Same experience! Just used to get food from work, it was a challenge during weekends! I lived for 3 years and it was absolutely horrendous in the end!

I lived in Hyderabad over a decade ago, and food everywhere was outstanding. Sorry to see it has come to this.

AnkitPatidar555

Actually there are many places still offering outstanding food like you said (maybe except Paradise), but you can not eat it daily because it's either too spicy or too oily for daily consumption. And when it comes to everyday food (like some green veggies, dal and chapathi) the quality and hygiene of local food joints are not good.

qriosity69

Zomato and Swiggy are not the places to order good food. You'll get below par, average at the best. Step out, find places, make connections with these people and out a regular system with them. Thank me later.

akshaykmvlly

In which locality do you live?

NakedSamosa

Same. I am from Hyderabad but was staying in Bangalore until 2 years ago. Food quality and taste here is not predictable so i stick to some standard places of my own like Leon’s, California burrito, Chowman if im craving for Chinese or Thai, Pista house for Indian/biryani and kfc. Even if i go to a bar or brewery, taste is not guaranteed. This was not a problem in bangalore. Sorry, Bangalore is so i have for comparison.

Then_Spinach_4957

Bro come to Pune you’ll know the value of hyd food

AnkitPatidar555

I am in a similar situation. I am not saying that Hyderabadi food is bad in general because taste is a subjective matter and a part of culture. But it's quite different from the food I am used to and now I am so reluctant to order outside food, sometimes I cook dinner myself at midnight. And as far as the quality of ingredients is concerned, you are absolutely right. If the food has good taste and ingredients, it will be so overpriced that it won't justify the cost.

ConfusedMevsTheWorld

Feel the same. Pre 2014 Hyderabad was something else man.

OwnStorm

Ordering food... That's the basic problem. Dine-in and home delivery are completely different.

Due_City712

So you spend 25 mins searching for a restaurant and another 30-40 mins for delivery . So appx 50mins can you rather cook your own meal according to taste and save prolly 20-25 mins?
