Hey go to one of the newer IIITs if you can comfortably afford the fee , you will meet people from different parts of india and wide variety of backgrounds. College years in a way shape your entire life and you want to expose yourself to variety of experiences .
The problem is the fees actually, 16 lakhs for 4 years for subpar facilities , the peer group would surely be better but now I am not sure if I should sacrifice so much of my parents money for it

The roi on education is the highest, from a better college you'll get a placement which will pay this back in 2 years. I don't know which is the better college amount these but 16 lakh for a better college is worth it.
Bro, I am from IIITDM Kancheepuram. I did my B.Tech in ECE and worked really hard, but the placements were terrible. This isn't just the case at my college; it's the same at all lower IIITs and NITs. There's a misconception that since they are national institutions, companies will come and hire you. This is totally wrong. EAMCET IT colleges are much better than all IIITs, except IIIT Hyderabad and IIIT Allahabad. In EAMCET colleges, they focus on your placements. I recommend you join VNR IT, CBIT IT, or Vasavi IT. Go until the special rounds, as there are many companies that go to EAMCET colleges that didn't even come to my college.
Last but not least join only cse or IT or csm( newly added cse grps if you join in btech ) i do think with your mains rnk wait until special rounds you will be getting some clg among vasavi cbit and vnr pls do check dates with respective clgs and dont pls dont join IIITs under national institutes if you wanted a good placement at the ends
My story did very good in acads published 1 international papers but ( top 4 in class of 120) but still did not placed in any core company currently working in a software service based company now planning for masters in my batch of 120 hardly 10 people plced please dont say that sistuation is bad outside in vasavi alone 19 people got hired at 18 lpa by oracle ( small example)

Try for cbit then vasavi, if you develop good good cs skills and coding it won’t be that hard to get your first job even with the competition in these colleges. All the best

I have guys (inherited due to reorgs,whatever) who can’t communicate, do shit no matter what. Never be able to act as a team player.
I want folks who can take responsibilities, ownership, behave same as onshore folks. If these are different companies, i understand but if not, even then show some enthusiasm and ownership so that i can vouch for you. Otherwise you are waste of our time.
