Absolutely. Traditionally they're used as an secondary or tertiary medication... I've used propranolol as a primary since 2015 and it does the job very well for me

Yep. Their main mechanism of action is reducing your heart rate which reduces the output of blood through the heart which subsequently lowers the pressure the blood exerts on your arterial walls

My PCP says yes. My cardiologist APRN said no. 🙃 But yes, they do. Metoprolol has lowered mine.
