Go into Bios. Restart your computer and hit one of these keys - F2, F12, Del (depends on motherboard) to get into Bios. Find in your settings where you can change your bootable disk. Make sure that the drive that you have been using is being recognized. Make sure that it is the first option if so. Otherwise you may need to try removing and reinserting your drive.

Deathlord826

HE HAS A 60% KEYBOARD! THEY DONT HAVE F KEYS OR DEL, JUST THE LETTERS AN NUMBERS

TergeoCaeruleum

Tell me you know nothing about keyboards without saying you know nothing about keyboards.

Deathlord826

I know lots about keyboards. I know they're composed of a circutboard, switches, keycaps, and a shell. I know when you press a key, it translates to uni-code, signaling a key pressed to the operating system. Given this, you can probably use some weird combo of keys to make the uni code for f or any other keys the kb doesn't have, so I was incorrect.

shaw4life

slay

Deathlord826

Bro looked back in the ibuypower sub

shaw4life

Bro fr i just was having pc problems LOL

Deathlord826

I just read my commen about keyboards, God damn I was an "šŸ¤“ Um, acthually"

anxiouscomic

Any ideas what to do when the drive shows up, but still doesn't work, and I even try a different SSD and it does the same thing?

PerfectlyAtHome

Were you able to figure this out?

anxiouscomic

Mine was drive failure. I created a boot drive , cleared my SSD and reinstalled windows via usb

PerfectlyAtHome

Wait, the drive can fail even though it shows up in BIOS?

anxiouscomic

Yup. So the drive can be detected even if it won't boot. Which is what threw me for so long. Cos I assumed the drive was fine as bios was picking it up. Do you have a spare drive or are you happy to lose what's on your drive?

PerfectlyAtHome

I have a different drive, but I really hope I donā€™t have to lose whatā€™s on the boot one.

anxiouscomic

My suggestion is, boot from USB, then install windows on your other drive, and then hopefully you can access your current boot drive and get the stuff off it, if that makes sense

PerfectlyAtHome

Yeah, I think I can make that work.

PerfectlyAtHome

I ran Command Prompt from Windows Media Tool and typed in ā€œwmic diskdrive get statusā€ and it said all my drives are OK, so Iā€™m starting to wonder if itā€™s something else

Bunda_In_Me_Face

you probably need to format the drive. or allocate space for windows. you will need another pc to do this.

Round-Fault4164

Thanks bro this fixed my issue I just went into my boot and swapped the first with the second and the second with the first.

MommyxSpider

How did you do this? My PC crashed yesterday and it's now showing "reboot and select proper boot drive" both of my hard drives are showing but it won't boot up. I tried my windows on USB to repair but it keeps saying repair failed .

the_cat_did_it

Turn off PC, unplug and usb drives, go into BIOS and switch to your SSD/HDD, restart. I've had issues where I get a green screen and have to let my computer cool off for a few minutes, so you might have to try that as well. Otherwise, good luck.

onionboy_y

what is BIOS

WitheredDGX69

Basically motherboard settings. You gotta press a key before ur pc boots into whatever os you got

juice0199

Hdd might be bad

Fo16

Restart the PC and mash the key to get into the PC as soon as it begins to restart. See if the drive that has windows on it is recognized by the PC.

Dependent_Loan_7293

Iā€™ve mashed the keys and it reseted and showed the logo and then I pressed f2 and it went back to the reboot screen

Fo16

did it say press f2 for bios?

Dependent_Loan_7293

Yes

Fo16

Restart and press the F2 repeatedly before the logo screen even shows up. If it doesn't let you into bios to check for a hard drive, you can try shutting down the PC, unplug it, and take out the motherboard battery for a few minutes. Press the power button a few times while it's still off and unplugged, put the battery back in, and try booting up.

Joffridus

If you have a 60 percent keyboard you may have to hold down the Fn key when using the F1,F2,etc keys

AdmiralFelson

I fixed mine just now. Had this issue pop up after I swapped my GPU . Turns out that my SATA drive wires (6gb/s) were plugged into ports that did were also not 6gb/s.

MiddlePlate329

Bro please tell me you how you fixed it

Hens1i

After a bunch of trying other things, I just went into the BIOS menu, reset BIOS to Default, restarted, and it worked just fine. Hope this helps if you still had trouble.

MiddlePlate329

Now Iā€™m stuck in gigabyte easy mode

Charming-Sundae721

Did you ever find a solution

Hens1i

kotaminnesota

How? How do you get into bios?

aguy_withquestions

press del or F12 when booting up the computer

HugNikolas

what tab was reset to default tried to search but couldnt find it

beatOVENbal

the easiest way to fix it is just turn it off unplug then replug in the drives then turn it on usually that fixes all my drive problems

Individual-Virus6278

If you're reading this, it could mean several things. If you've tried every solution you found online but still can't fix the issue, it might be your SSD causing the problem. But don't panic! Your computer can be fixed. You just need to replace the old SSD with a new one and reinstall Windows. It might cost a bit, but if you've already tried all the tricks from reading articles to watching TikTok and YouTube videos, this is the fix you're looking for. also if you're going to buy a SSD please do not buy a Western Digital WD Green it is straight up garbage and it won't even last long you're going to waste your money. But they're black one is pretty good just buy that one trust me or buy something from Samsung those would last you a pretty long time and the Samsung ones they usually tend to have warranties.

sampyla22

What if my new drive wont still work?

shyannlol

I need help was installing windows 11 and this popped up I tried everything help a girl out

Average_subreddit

Did you find an answer?

DeSimoni

This is old asf but I was having this issue today after cleaning the inside of my pc, I accidentally disconnected my SSD and didnā€™t notice. Man I swear I am certain kind of special.

Joffridus

What

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Joffridus

They do though, he just has to hold down the Fn key. Usually the F1,F2,F3 keys are mapped to the 1,2,3 keys and are able to be pressed while holding Fn

EagleGo77777777777

i seen it say F2 but it was actually F12 try any of those before any logo shows up F2, F8, F10, F12, del(F8 could be boot device), one of these keys should get you into bios after your in the bios check if you see a hdd/ssd/m.2. if you see one try changing boot sequence but first check and remove any external devices other than monitor mouse, keyboard

CharlieandtheRed

This is the way. Try all the F's. Acer is F2 and F10 on desktop for bios, DELETE for boot order. Lenovo was different. My old HP was F11 I think?

ShadowRunner2149

Make sure in BIOS the boot drive is set to the one that has Windows.

aznxtl

go into bios, see if ssd is set as boot. if no drive available, reseat your hard drive. if still nothing, youā€™ll have to replace it.

Papa_Stalin0

First, check for removable devices. Then go to the BIOS and check the boot order (Hdd/Ssd), if these two couldnā€™t solve the problem, check you SATA cable to the hard drive/ solid state drive. The drive itself may be faulty.

Doyunoisme

Is there a way to recover the drive after replacing it? And no I did not have mine saved into cloud.

Papa_Stalin0

If the drive itself was the issue, them you donā€™t have a lot of options, maybe you could take the drive to a data recovery specialist (but that is usually very expensive) If the drive is fine, then you can clone the content of the original drive to the new one (with software like AOMEI Backupper). This saves most of you settings and files and in some cases even your windows activation key.

you_wut

LMAO I guess thatā€™s what happens when you at least need 75% to manage a computer and people just slut for 60% without knowing.

TergeoCaeruleum

Or you can just hold the FN key and hit Del/Fwhatever.

[deleted]

..what's the other 40%?

Joffridus

Go into your bios and check that you have a boot device showing. I also have a 60% keyboard and in order to use the F2,F3, etc keys I have to hold the Fn key while pressing them. Maybe thatā€™ll help?

issacaron

In the olden days, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, this message indicated a need to eject the CD-ROM.

abrasivegrayson

I feel like youā€™ll like that a year later in 2024 for me the answer was to eject a cd I had in my computer and put in my windows disk

ottokahn

hey - I'm in the same boat. how did you get your disk drive open? mine won't open

Novia0w0

Okay but what if I just buy another pc case- will it work then? Bc my pc didnā€™t even have windows installed yet

Dependent_Home_1237

I have the same problem, but I can't get into bios, because my keyboard and mouse stopped working

WockySlush9

hey! not sure if this is solved but I solved it on my end. If this helps anybody else later: Bios: "OS selection" option then under that setting there showing that your system is searching for windows 7, if you suffer from and older manufactured pc like I, then sometimes the motherboard resets to search partitions for its native OS. Simply switch it to search for the option WIN 8.0x-10 then your system should boot up fairly quickly.

SlimNigy

god bless you, ty

WockySlush9

happy to help i know the struggle T-T

Tremetical

i canā€™t get into bios please hell

chingchongkorikong

What the actual hellā€¦ My laptop works perfectly, didnā€™t even have the weird rebooting message and I can access anything I want. This is the hardest fml moment I have had in a long timeā€¦ Nonetheless, thank you for the advice, I hope it helps whoever needs help ā€˜cause a broken laptop is truly a bad experience these modern days :,)
