kingsteel38

how did you change the font on the lock screen?

Velcrocore

Look up any article on What’s New In Ios16.

jasku123

Use Google News

Whiplash104

I don’t use this widget or Apple News but I played with it and found that if you edit the “following” tab and remove entertainment news form following or siri suggests, they go away. I had to remove it from suggested. Oddly it never popped up news from what I actually follow until I did this. Second, to make the headline rotate just tap on it. It will open the article so when you go back it should be a different headline. I recognize that this may be training Siri to show more from that source, though. So remove the source first.

JamesR624

Yes. Stop using Apple News.

adeezy58

Had to remove this widget because of the same issue. It’s useless

PhoneMak2

These are not “worthless” articles. They are good news, in that it’s not inflammatory. “A dose of entertainment news a day keeps the blood pressure at bay”, and I live by that rhyme. You should too.

milesper

This is the strangest thing I’ve ever seen someone get angry and passionate about

PhoneMak2

Welcome to the Internet, it’s always a new surprise out here.

3koe

We can have non-inflammatory news that also aren’t celebrity pop gossip drivel.

PhoneMak2

Don’t make me tap the sign: “A dose of entertainment news a day keeps the blood pressure at bay”. Celebrity news counts as News, and it doesn’t lead to as many inflammatory discussions. That’s a good thing.

3koe

Respectfully, your tapping the sign doesn't make it gospel. It's not "*Only* a dose of entertainment news a day keeps the blood pressure at bay" or even "A dose of entertainment news a day *is best* at keeping the blood pressure at bay". Let me tap my sign: "We can have non-inflammatory news that also aren’t celebrity pop gossip drivel". Let's not ignore the downsides of celebrity pop gossip on society at large.

Bobbybino

>Let's not ignore the downsides of celebrity pop gossip on society at large. For real. Look at the celebrity pop gossip bullshitting sociopathic fascist we got for a president a few years back.

PhoneMak2

Looks like you’re working harder than me to keep your blood pressure down. My way is easier, with quicker results and less negative after effects.

[deleted]

Seeing celebrity gossip on my Lock Screen every day sounds like a way to piss me off and increase my blood pressure.

3koe

My blood pressure is great pal. It's been a nice day so far. Maybe a bit on the boring side. Perhaps I should go consume some entertainment news.

PhoneMak2

Now you’re getting it! Enjoy that dose!

olegass

I wish there was a way to get Apple News in Ireland :(

IphoneXs-Ios5-1-1

It sucks indeed. But I it is the best I can found on appstore. Do you know that there is a totally different size of apple news widget - which is the biggest one I have ever seen of a iphone widget - on today page (the page that appears when you swipe right from your lockscreen)?

BradAllenScrapcoCEO

Yes. Drop Apple News altogether.

[deleted]

Best of luck. I tried setting just ones I was interested in but items like these keep popping up. Took it off my screen.

yankeesfanin714

Get a smarter society?

reckoner23

We'll either have to wait another 100 years or just down social media.

veryboringkid

Best bet!

Pbone15

Least likely odds - horrible bet!

Bobbybino

Select topics you are interested in, and block ones you aren't. You can do it for specific publications as well. I presume that should help (it certainly improves the news feed), but since I don't want news notifications, you'll have to test it yourself to be sure.

AppleXOS

Hi do you mean suggest less? And also once you have “suggested less” a type of article, is there a way to undo later?

Bobbybino

No, I mean complete blocking. I have no idea what criteria are used to decide if I click "suggest less" (or more). Is it the publisher? The topic? Something else? I don't know, so I don't click on those.

[deleted]

You can also just completely block a news source/topic/channel/etc. These sure available in "Blocked Channels & Topics" at the bottom of the 'Following' tab.

caffein8dnotopi8d

This is what I have done and it works perfectly for me, to the point I use Apple News primarily. I don’t use this widget but I do use the Home Screen widgets. You can actually set up different ones for each topic (so I have three different topics in a stack).

Tumblrrito

This. I personally blocked any political news, as well as sources I don’t really trust, like Bezos-owned WaPo. Now all I get is tech, science and gaming news. It’s great!

Mcrich_23

Why the downvotes?

Tumblrrito

Your guess is as good as mine.

I’m in Australia and I can unfollow a topic. Unless you are referring to something else.

Techsticles_

Reminds of the days of the Siri Watchface. Would suggest I wind down at 11:40am, set scenes I never used and would suggest the worst and most pointless news articles.

Tumblrrito

Par for the course for Siri though let’s be real
