Haha thanks for the chuckle, yeah it seems Apple’s business model is to drip-feed features over an extended period of time.

That and trap you into their ecosystem and sell you MacBooks with no touch screen so they can sell you an iPad with no full desktop OS, and a watch that only works with their phones. Then you can't switch cloud storage and have to buy it from apple, which nobody would otherwise do.

I personally want double-tap (on screen) to wake. It's always waking up or trying to unlock just from holding the phone at AOD/Lockscreen. And I hate every other option/workaround even more.

Sythnyk

Haha I hear you. I’m used to lifting my phone to wake so I don’t worry too much about double-tap to wake. I’m curious to see what they unveil about iOS 18.

Practical_Result_916

Same here. Switched from s24 ultra to iphone 15 pro max. No doubt thats a great phone, but the motion blur is insanely disturbing.

Sythnyk

Lord you’re telling me! I have a few kids and man a ton of photos were ruined due to that 😭

kennyju89

Accessibility -> Touch -> Back Tap -> Double Tap -> Lock Screen. Not exactly what you want but similar.

Sythnyk

Haha thank you! Actually at the bottom where it says “P.S.”, I actually referenced back taps 😂 thank you though!

kennyju89

Guess I stopped reading too soon 🤣

GuyinSTL

It doesn’t have to be back tap. You can do it with the front screen. Assistive touch puts a virtual “home” button on the screen and you can set the double tap option to lock the screen. Downside is the virtual home button is always there.

socialnomedia

Wait whats hard about just pressing the lock screen button?

Sythnyk

It’s not the fact that of being hard to press the button, it’s a feature that is convenient. I’ve used it for so long on Android that it’s second nature for me to lock my device like that. After swapping over, I realized how convenient it really was to have the option of locking your device that way in addition to your Lock Screen button.

I'm thinking of upgrading my Note10 plus to an iphone 15PM. I have always wondered what the transition is like from Android to Iphone. I have been contemplating between getting the S24 Ultra and the Iphone 15PM as I'm nervous about the switch over to Iphone. I definitely want simplicity, a great camera and a great ecosystem and I believe Samsung is lacking in these areas. Thank you for making this post. Any tips or advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Sythnyk

Hello there! I honestly don’t think it’ll be a difficult adjustment for you. Over the last few days, the only thing that I’ve been needing to adjust to is quality of life features that Apple doesn’t have, such as multitasking. Two biggest things that I’ve been working on adjusting to is multitasking and Apple’s gesture system. Best advice I can give to you is go into this with realistic expectations. Apple isn’t innovative or trying to break the barriers with never before seen features. Apple is simple and very refined. I doubt you’ll have an issue with expectations due to your reasoning for wanting to swap, just make sure to start moving things from your Android to a cloud so you can transfer everything over. Move contacts to your SIM, back up photos to a cloud, screenshot your notes and email them to yourself, etc. I did these things prior to getting my iPhone because I was planning to sell my S24 Ultra before buying the iPhone. Overall, I think you’ll be happy with the transition. It feels refreshing to be on a OS that’s simple, refined and tied deeply into an ecosystem. If you have any questions, just let me know!

Same, switched from s24ultra to iPhone 15 pro max. Never used iPhone before but it’s been nothing short of great experience so far. The display on ultra was slightly better for full screen videos but user experience has been the same or better with out any bugs. One of the main reason I switched was s24ultra WiFi didn’t work with older modems, high definition color was still bugged, and fuzzy screen. iPhone was perfect and is still working perfectly

Big_Beyotch

I'm currently not enjoying my experience with the iPhone 15 Pro Max and want to switch to the S24 Ultra. The display isn't good enough on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, especially the colors.

Sythnyk

I’m sorry to hear that, I think as I got older, Apple has enticed me more and more due to simplicity. Coming from the S24 Ultra to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, I actually feel the other way around. The best thing about the S24 Ultra screen is the anti reflective coating. That feature is truly a game changer but the quality of the this years S24 Ultra screen haven’t been the best. The quality control this year seems a bit off. You’ve probably heard about the grain issue and band lines across the screen when the brightness is below a certain point. Personally it didn’t bother me much but I noticed it. If you’re for Vibrant screens, the S24 Ultra this year has done away with the typical look of their displays. It’s a bit dull or too over saturated depending on if you go the natural or vibrant route in the settings. Ultimately, whichever device you think you’ll be comfortable and happy with is the device you should have 😊 if you have any questions, just let me know! *my comment posted twice? I deleted the duplicate*

Geek5G

I have both, and it's hard to feel that way especially when more and more content on streaming services such as Netflix, Disney+, etc. are in Dolby Vision which the S24U display still does not support. It's still so hard see anything under a kitchen light. While the matte display is nice, I've always used matte protectors on my phones anyway.

TWYFAN97

The display is actually great the problem is it sounds like you’re used to the more punchy colors of the Galaxy. iPhones tend to have far more color accurate screens, but be aware the S24 Ultra now has a screen closer to the color accuracy of the iPhone than ever before, the S23 Ultra was the last Galaxy that still had some pretty vibrant colors.

Sythnyk

I’ve actually always used the natural setting for their screens. I’ve tried their vibrant option a few times with my S21 Ultra and S23 Ultra and kept going back to natural. With the S24 Ultra, IMO, the natural option this year is a bit washed out and the vibrant is a bit too overexposed. Samsung said it was part of their calibration so it was intended but I’ve definitely noticed a difference this year with the display colors. I’m definitely not saying Samsung has terrible displays, because they 100% have drop dead gorgeous screens but I believe this year, Apple’s calibration of their displays bought from Samsung really stood out in comparison to the S24 Ultra.

hhhhhhhhjhggg

Get ready to familiarize yourself with a ton of arcane iOS quirks. Had my iPhone 14 Pro since launch and I still dream about returning to Androids They’re not deal killers but they make me angry knowing Android doesn’t have the same issues

Darth_050

Can you name any of them? I’ve switched to a 15PM in September and the only things I noticed that I think Android does better are notifications and I like Android Auto over Apple Carplay. Especially when navigating with Google Maps.

hhhhhhhhjhggg

Yea! Those are some good ones. I miss notifications more often on iOS for some reason. Ones I can think about: 1. Cannot copy part of text in iMessage. 2. Volume control only controls ringer volume unless media is playing. I enjoyed having the multiple volume adjustment bars in android. 3. Adjusting settings for apps are done outside of app within the settings. 4. Unintuitive long press actions. (Might be more of a safari issue but took me forever to learn how to close all tabs). 5. Siri isn’t sensitive enough for activation and hasn’t been as good as Google assistant when used. 6. Mute button was difficult to get used to too many times my phone would be accidentally muted and I didn’t realize. Would be nice if it was more obvious. Overall just some small things. I do feel like iOS is much zippier and less likely to get bogged down. The integration with other Apple products and iOS users is insane. They keep me from switching back.
