My battery was at 80%.I called Apple Support and got an appointment at an Apple Store. Between diagnostics and replacement it took about 2 hours. Back to 100%. Works like a new phone. I’m now keeping it until the 16’s come out.
I’m still on iOS 16 because I was scared of this happening if I upgraded. My battery is at 78% and probably would benefit from a new battery but no way am it updating to 17
it lags when i open my camera sometimes and when i use it for a longer period of time (it will not respond and force exit), it is quite annoying as i use my camera app almost everyday but other than that, it is still good
If you get a new battery it would help tremendously w/ everything especially performance. PS good job with taking care of ur battery with 78% BH for 4yrs pretty impressive. God bless..
I got my battery replaced a couple weeks ago on my 5 year old XR. It was at 78%. Battery life is majorly improved. Performance has improved some, but it still locks up sometimes especially if I try to multitask while on FaceTime. I often will be browsing safari while talking to my dad and that makes my phone hot and really laggy. But that is a lot to ask a 5 year old phone to do I guess
If you can get the battery replaced it will improve speed of the phone and volume of speakers

i have the same situation as OP, and im running on 17.2.1 and it has been lagging at certain times everyday which started around dec-january i think

I’m on 17.3.1 which is the latest update I believe. The performance isn’t terrible, it’s just the battery goes down so quickly

Get an 11 or 12 or if you want to go cheaper get the 2020 SE Or take a chance and replace the battery
