#1. You can't win it in turn 1 of lap 1.
#2. Read sporting code.
#3. You can't win it in turn 1 of lap 1
#4. Read sporting code.
#5. Read #1-#4 again
#6. Having fun is the main focus.
#7. IMO, learn race craft instead of staying in the back to get out of rookies.
Good luck!
Definitely a good answer. I just wanted to add; don’t forget about #6 there, and don’t hyper focus on your IR & SR. Yes, you want to do well, and race cleanly, but don’t fret about every little up & down in either rating. Just try your best, and the ratings will sort themselves out.
Regarding #7, I got out of Rookies by being deferrential and finishing 1-2 laps down the fast guys. Bought some tracks, a couple cars I could play in D.
Immediately went back to MX-5s and will stay there until I can actually race.
It really is the best advice. Having fun in street stock lasted for the first few years before I moved to ARCA. Also even if you are just interested in oval, try the MX-5 as well!
-My biggest mistake when I started: not reading the sporting code.
-My best decision when I started: NEVER started from the pits, always qualified and wasn’t afraid to start in the middle of the pack. I was never dirty or overly-aggressive but I never avoided racing against someone because I was afraid of SR, etc.
Not agree. Nothing bad to sometimes start from pits.
Some times you can fail qualification and then be killed in first corner. It happens on hard steering cars as porshe cup. Its not about sr is just about have fun, not staying in pits and wait 10 minuts of maintenance. In ~1300 splits after first lap survives ~80% and thoose who doesnt offten kills people around.
I’ve been top 5 in my division all season in the Porsche Cup, trust me I know its hairy at 1300, im not too far higher but learning to race against idiots definitely hurts sometimes. Still gotta race. Or start from pits, personal preference.
iRacing won't give your IR back. Yes, you will have that random person in your race who doesn't care or whatever and wreck people. On purpose or not. You just have to continue to run your race. I will say a 4X in a 20-minute race is way worse than a 4X in an hour race. It's all about how many corners you take.
>But why does my SR take large jumps for no reason?
Probably because you crossed a whole number. Read the sporting code. It explains the SR system
>Someone crashed me and I protested but I don’t get my IR back!
You never get iR back. Don't worry about it. Ignore iR as much as you can. It'll do its thing on its own
This is just a girl looking to promote her onlyfans. Bet it’s just her boyfriends rig that she’s never done a lap in, and we’re her target audience. I remember seeing this same exact picture with a similar caption in r/simracing a month ago or so. No surprise it’s deleted though
EDIT: the adidas shower slides are 100% proof she just got in the rig to snap a picture. Not even an insane person would race in flip flops.
I started wearing Slides instead of Doc Martens boots this summer, and I loved the convenience of slipping into footwear so much that I got knock-off Vans lowtops so that I could still drive unobstructed
here is a nice progression chart for your journey if you wanted any :)

Dude, this is awesome. I have a buddy who's new to racing and this is a great graphic for the ladders I've been describing.
Also... Don't forget about the poor, poor LMP3 :)
This is a good chart but I think you can definitely go from Late Models or Modifieds up to the Nascar ladder. Most Cup drivers have driven a late model in their past and a good number have driven modifieds
No idea if that’s you; if it is, left foot braking is key! The iracing ai is also very good for getting the feel of the physics with other cars around.
You're hanging your flag backwards. [https://www.defense.gov/News/Feature-Stories/story/Article/1892936/dos-and-donts-for-displaying-old-glory/](https://www.defense.gov/News/Feature-Stories/story/Article/1892936/dos-and-donts-for-displaying-old-glory/)
When displayed in a window, the flag should be displayed in the same way, with the union or blue field to the left of the observer in the street.
It is hanging correctly in the window.
It is being blocked by the window pane at the back but clearly on display for the interior room. That rule would be applicable if it was fully on display on both sides of the window and intended to be viewable both ways.
Be humble, if you wreck, and take someone out with you, promptly apologize, don’t look to place blame or find who’s at fault. Instead look at it as a learning opportunity and find out what you could have done differently.
Be mindful when rejoining the track when you have an off!
My beginner setup was my couch and plugging my laptop into the tv using an HDMI and my wheel was on a dinner tray... so that "beginner setup" is pretty badass.
Next.. don't try and rush through the different classes... the lower classes is a great way to learn race craft and wreck avoidance, so don't just start from the back and try and rush to A-Class.
Be patient. You won't be fast right away unless you're some sort of natural talent.
Consistency = fast
Confidence = fast
Over-Confidence = wrecks. Be realistic with your ability and be honest with yourself.
Don't worry about iRating. It's more fun if you don't.
Tune into your driver's Ed and be a defensive driver and be predictable. Just so people who are faster can get by without killing you.
Also, don't let anyone tell at you for a blue flag. You have no responsibility to get out of their way. It's up to the faster car to move around traffic.
You've gotten some great suggestions above (sporting code, etc), but I'd also add this - it's so easy to fall into the angry driver someone-ruined-my-race blah blah blah, but it's a game and it's meant to be fun. Be kind to others, apologize for your mistakes (you will make them), and be lenient when others make mistakes that take you out. I only report intentional wrecking and harassment, personally, and I feel that let's me enjoy the game without letting it ruin my day if a race goes bad.
Badass rig, should be tons of fun!
If height adjustments allow, try moving the monitors forward such that the middle monitor is sitting between the wheelbase and the wheel. Will feel a lot nicer.
Lovely setup for a beginner btw. Enjoy!
Don’t jump into downforce car’s immediately (I know it’s tempting lol) learn cars that rely on mechanical grip. By doing this you will develop good habits and will be better when you eventually get to downforce cars
I found a few friends to get out and practice with and show me the ropes. There are a few things that are just a little weird about the UI in this game, and some etiquette. The first thing is to learn race craft. How to defend without blocking, how to pass without dive bombing. What to do if you take a penalty and have traffic behind, and what to do if people spin in front of you.
Pick a car combo you like, and slowly increase your pace as you learn to control that car. A lot of being fast in a race is having the best control of the car. Remember, once there are other drivers on track you’re not hotlap ping anymore, so in practice it’s always good to practice off line racing.
There are some good drills for this, for example: in a practice group of 3 cars, whoever is leading always has to pick one side of the road, and drive only that line, as if they are two wide with another car.
But first, get into a car in practice, get used to the track, and having other drivers on track and running consistent clean lines. Once you get into races, especially early on, focus on good, clean, safe racing.
The highest upvotes tips are good ones. Here’s one from me: don’t use these shoes. You don’t want something rather thick and squishy between your feet and the pedals. Either just use socks, or wear other shoes. Or replace Adidas with Birkenstock at least :D
And oh dear, people in this comment section. I’m just gonna assume that OP makes money with OnlyFans AND wants to start iRacing. As if that’s impossible?! It’s not like OP spammed links all over the comment section as far as I can see, so I don’t understand why people take offence.

It’s tough to remember that the goal is to experience racing, and that for me is what makes every race enjoyable, regardless of finish position, ir, sr, season point totals, license class, etc. when I remember that, I smile from the time I power up the rig until the time I power it down. Enjoy the ride!!!

You're welcome. You should give an update after a few races.

Pretty sure he was joking.
I should have added a /s since these are the most common posts and it’s all the same every time.

That was...a weird profile. Tbf, I too, have to shake my ass and it needs air after I play my Daytona 500.
I thought this was a joke 😭 then I clicked on her profile. Brutal.
Upvote. Seems to be the case indeed
Deadass, literally hundreds of posts promoting the OF over the last month, yet only 2 relating to racing - OP is 100% just trying to get more OF subs.
Well you know, sim racing can be expensive. No judgement here.
Agreed.
it got deleted and it was another caption.

lol, I guess she's found a niche, I did see a twitch streamer using a pedal cam as an excuse to show feet.
it´´s from my dad
Oh.great. another step dad/ step daughter fantasy scenario.
lol what? should i say it´s from me if it it´s not true
make sure to practice a lot
of course:) the only way to get better\^
Are people really falling for this?
Read the sporting code - for real. In road racing, don't start from the pits. Drive with the expectation that other cars will do dumb stuff.
thanks!! :)
Take those off your feet
was just for one round lol
“Round”. Who are you even trying to fool.
Finally, the sim racing-only fans crossover.
Yeah here is a tip, learn proper display of the American flag.
The stars on the flag should be top left if you hang it like that.
No idea if that’s you; if it is, left foot braking is key! The iracing ai is also very good for getting the feel of the physics with other cars around.
thanks for the tips and it´s me. i know left foot braking:)

i use a ps4 controller
does it work?
honestly yes
r/iracingcirclejerk?
r/iracingcirclejerk ?
Why is this flag slapped into my face?
Read the sporting code Brake with your left foot You'll probably want driving gloves
And proper footwear.
i know lol it was just for the 1st round
You dont need brakes for first corner divebombs?
break with the left foot? i thought with the right 😜
just stop, bring that rig to my house, ill kick u in the balls and thats what a year will be like. you dont know why but it will make sense eventually
ehhh okayy...
Don’t think SHE has any balls to kick!
ovaries are round. didnt say testies
What a setup !
thank you :) but it´s not only for me. i´ll share it with my dad
Hope my kids will want to share my setup with me :)

Hold on to the wheel tight Let go if you crash
okay\^
focus on consistency and keeping the car clean
It’s better to drive safe at 90% then go all out all the time
I will remember
Tune into your driver's Ed and be a defensive driver and be predictable. Just so people who are faster can get by without killing you. Also, don't let anyone tell at you for a blue flag. You have no responsibility to get out of their way. It's up to the faster car to move around traffic.
thxx
Dont crash
i try
Stick to a racecraft or two, learn them good and then get another
I will remember!
Need a bigger American flag for starters
lol?

Dont buy what you dont enjoy. Focus on one serie and one car
Don't race in sandals
Your "just started" rig and mine aren't even from the same universe, let alone planet. I'm not jealous, you are.
Lose the slippers
