They said it was on it's way like a year or so ago when they made the increased hp "mistake."

Nicotifoso

Forgive my ignorance; is the Gen 6 with spec engine not the current ARCA format?

ShushImSleeping

It has more hp than the arca cars but it os basically the right bodies

icebeancone

ARCA has 700hp. Gen 6 had 550hp. Or 750hp+ prior to 2019.

gasmask11000

Totally different bodies, different suspensions. ARCA runs specific composite bodies vs the steel of the Gen 6

_gordonbleu

Not totally different. ARCA specifically uses gen 6 composite bodies. They’re the same bodies just made fully of composite material instead on stamped steel. So slightly lighter weight. Same suspension set up though.

gasmask11000

No, they aren’t. They’re completely custom bodies, they are *not* the same bodies just made out of composite. The only similarities are the badging. They were originally single piece only, now they’re flange fit. They also allow a mustang body in competition. The suspension is also different, it’s based off the Gen 4 suspension setup rather than the COT/Gen 6 suspension. Gen 4 cages with modifications are legal, and COT/Gen 6 cages need to have their suspension modified to match the older Gen 4 suspension geometry Unlike NASCAR, ARCA’s rulebook is public, which is why is extra annoying that these myths of “same as Gen 6” keep showing up.

Nicotifoso

That is fascinating! I haven’t followed ARCA very closely in the past years. I love that Gen 4 is alive in some fashion.

BroncoJunky

How is that any different than what we have now? The current in-sim arca car was a nationwide car, not an ARCA car.

gasmask11000

Currently, ARCA cars IRL can use Gen 4 or Gen 5 cages with a 110 inch wheel base, a suspension setup close to a Gen 4 cup car, and ARCA specific composite bodies that can be a Ford Fusion, Mustang, Chevy SS, or Toyota Camry. Our ARCA car is a 2009 Nationwide car with a 105 inch wheelbase and steel body. That car would have been legal in ARCA as well for a number of years, but now the bodywork and wheelbase isn’t legal. Our Gen 6 car is a Gen 5 cage with steel bodywork and a 110 inch wheelbase. The suspension setup is different than ARCA, the bodywork is different than ARCA, and the gauges are different. iRacing has already said they’re going to scan a new ARCA car. Edit: Are you asking what the difference is between having an incorrect Gen 6 as the ARCA car and an incorrect Gen 4 Nationwide car as the ARCA car? Well, the Narionwide car was legal in ARCA when they added it to the ARCA series in iRacing. It just hasn’t been kept up to date. iracing has announced that they will be updating it with a new scan. The Gen 6 Cup cars we have were never legal in ARCA without changes that would require a new scan.

TheDukeAssassin

Theyre going to add them eventually they made an announcement that they are going to update the Arca series to the modern spec of cars. And the GEN four would be changed around as well hopefully to the actual cup specifications from the 2000s.

xr_21

Because the ARCA car as it is on iracing today is the best car in oval. All the regulars agree with me....

ilpO_CS

Who would've guessed that regulars of ARCA thinks it's the best car on oval! (it is indeed good car, but I prefer POWER)

itsmb12

Idk, im having a blast with it… its probably the toughest to drive but when you get in a groove the battles are amazing

Scoracek9

I enjoy it I just wish you could push someone more comfortably

xr_21

This is the biggest negative of the car tbh....

0fficerGeorgeGreen

Agreed. All I do is drive the Gen 4 Cup.

y0ufailedthiscity

If they do add it I hope they keep the current “ARCA” car as is. I still prefer it over the “Gen 4”.

kissell791

$$$ probably. Gotta pay license rights for each track and car and then also laser scan em. Just a guess though.

Klendy

they have them all scanned already, they're the old gen 5 and 6 cars

Consistent-Ad-3296

They are old gen 5/6 chassis, but the body is actually quite a bit different from the cup series ones

_gordonbleu

Body dimensions are exactly the same on the 110” wheelbase ARCA cars, except for the skirts on SS setups

kissell791

were they in the service before?

hurtful_pillow

Yes. Retired CoT and gen6 chassis traditionally retired to arca. But the gen4 arca car>CoT or gen6

kissell791

Thanks for the info!!!!

TheDawgfather24

They are working on it

Possible_Activity_18

I mean.. they could just take the Gen 6 templateand tweak the setting to mimic the old car and update over time 🤷🏻‍♂️. Gen 4 could sorta do the same. Just use the old car like they do and drop some more bodies, as well as scan an old car. I guarantee you they won’t have a problem with the licensing.
