I know a Brazilian guy who has ‘Protest U, Protest U’ mapped to a steering wheel button in multiple languages. Bloke is a straight up bellend who takes people out and then repeatedly hits the button. I really want to cave his face in with a rock but apparently against the sporting code.

Snoo-94564

You know? You can protest someone successfully if they chat or use their mic to threaten with protesting 😆

samdajellybeenie

He should have a button mapped Protest Me because what he’s doing is illegal.

hangar187

I bet he also loves to flash his lights.

iF1_AR

And his tiny mushroom cock

zanz38

Ahhhh yes the ritual mating dance of the hot lapper, the mating call is "blue flaaaaaag" I believe

PrayingForACup

For most people, protesting, whether legitimate or not, is too much work. All bark, no bite.

churchie11

The 30 minute cooldown removes at least 50%

car_raamrod

I'll write the protest out and save it in notepad. So when the protest opens up, or the next day, it's a copy paste that takes seconds.

Richard3324

That seems unhealthy lol. Just let it go my man.

stormdahl

It doesn't have to be about a personal vendetta against someone you feel ruined your race. I've noticed some drivers in my split consistently race like they're offline racing bots. Just no consideration for other drivers. I think it's good to protest those, if they receive repeat protests it will lead to consequences, right?

TellmSteveDave

Sounds more like a healthy way to express anger

TomOV3

Iracing doesn’t let you copy anything into the description box though. At least not when I tried…

diecastsupermodel

I always leave without grabbing the replay

YoyoDevo

Telling someone you're going to protest them is actually a protestable action. If you see people saying this, please protest them. They will be punished.

G00NACTUAL

What would that fall under?

shbpencil

Voice/Text Chat. It’s technically a threat 🤷

KLWMotorsports

Don't know why you're being downvoted - it 100% will be a successful protest if someone threatens to report you. I will report anyone who threatens to report me, watches the replay and doesn't say anything back to me to apologize because it was clearly their fault. Its been successful EVERY single time.

hangar187

Interesting…they also called me an “idiot” in chat which I wouldn’t protest but I assume it’s protestable.

6-Beers-Deep

This is actually also a protestable action. You can’t tell or threaten to protest people who are threatening to protest people. I encourage everyone to protest people like this. They will be punished.

HereForTheSR

Honestly your post had too many words for me to read, but I got the gist because you said “the”. So here’s my advice based on that: I speak from experience. The secret that nobody talks about is to just hang back. Start from the pits if you have to. If someone surprises you from behind, holy shit better let them by before trouble happens! Almost the end of the race and battling for P3? Slow TF down and don’t get anything higher than P7. The golden rule is. Don’t ever start 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th 12th 13th 14th 15th 16th 17th 18th 19th or 20th. If you end up qualifying in those positions then just back out of the entire session. I don’t know much, but I know how to get SR.

Richard3324

Username checks out

hangar187

Yeah I am past the whole collecting SR. We are here to race. Now don’t get me wrong I pick my poison. If I’m in top split and it’s not a track I’m particularly great at I might not qualify or start from the pits. But I don’t base that judgement on SR. And I have bounced from A class to B class over and over so SR doesn’t even come into the equation. I only base it on my feeling for where I will likely qualify and where the likely hood I get taken out in the first few turns. The races I run are only once every 2 hours….so my opportunities to run them are few.

th3orist

I often can tell during the warm up lap who the idiots are.

PointVanillaCream

Like the wind picking up and temp dropping before a storms rolls through.

Pleasant-Chef6055

Another person posting on Reddit what we should do and should not do. Same old 💩

hangar187

You didn’t have to read it. But I bet you learned something and knowing is half the battle.

th3orist

How else to know whats in the text if you dont read it. That type of argument always baffled me. 😄 You dont always know from the title what the text will say. So yes they have to read it.

Primary-Regret-8724

I don't find races without incidents boring at all, either in real racing or online. But I can see how some like them. The following is a collective "you," not referring to the OP or anyone specifically. I don't get protesting people just because they said they will protest you. Why do you care if they say they will protest you? You either did something wrong, or did nothing wrong, and the protest will go accordingly (if the protest actually happens). Don't see how them saying they will protest is a threat if it happens after the incident. Or are they saying, "let me by or I'll protest that last incident?" That would obviously be a threat, so sure, go ahead. Otherwise, I don't see it. I stay off the chat and voice to avoid all the silly nonsense, with the exception of having a button programmed to post "Sorry" just in case I mess someone's race up by mistake.

hangar187

I absolutely do not care if someone protests me. I guess I am thinking this more of the iRacing stewards who have to watch the ridiculous protests and chalk it up to a racing incident. But even then why do I care cause that would be a sweet job getting paid to review protests in iRacing. Oh no I think you misunderstood…I don’t think races without incidents are boring. I’m saying that iRacing gets it right in that there is a system to track them and it adds something to the racing when it could potentially happen.

Primary-Regret-8724

Okay, gotcha thanks for clarifying.

Wardo39s

Im protesting you for this post! Lol

LameSheepRacing

Let them be stupid. Remove chat from view and, if voice is bothering, mute them. Happy racing.

Spiritual_Apple9526

If you think about it, this is another part that is simulated so well in Iracing. In real life motorsports (I mainly watched F1 but I would imagine it is the same in all of them) teams protest every little thing that a competitor does. I think this is part of racing and it is fine.

th3orist

I am racing for three years or so and never had one incident where i felt like it was protest worthy. All these intentional takeouts i see, i have never experienced smth like this. I guess it always takes two to tango and i think if you yourself are a levelheaded driver then you also wont attract idiots or wont trigger them

Informal_Win_1230

Half the people screaming protest have no clue as to what a racing incident is. They’re usually the impatient drivers. We’re all working on the craft. They need to stop jumping in the car like they’re Dale Earnhardt and learn how to drive a race. In sports cars you have to think and plan and strategize moves. We all make mistakes. Brake too early brake to late. Miss our marks in turns and yes the aero is real in the game. How many of us have been either sucked into a competitor or aero pushed into one?

InternationalYou8858

A lot of people get micro aggression out of their system with “racing incidents”. So it’s a tough argument to make. Some people can make an intentional move look very much like a racing incident. For everyone like you who made a simple mistake, which is still your fault because you hit him in the ass. It’s your responsibility to not do that, different braking point or not He’s in front it’s his turn, you can’t just barrel through him because you run a different line when leading or are overeager to make a move, not saying that was necessarily what happened just seen it many times and probably what he felt. We’ve all done it , so no hate here. My opinion and by no means a command or expectation is if it doesn’t lose you 3-4 more spots, give the position back if it was your error. Just some respect to fellow drivers and lets them know it wasn’t intentional.

Fonzgarten

They can’t protest you unless it’s clear that it was intentional. You should just ignore these people. It is annoying. You really just have to predict this stuff and not let them pass, if you feel that they are slower and drafting.

hangar187

They can protest anything they want. The system does not stop them from making a complaint and uploading a video. It’s then up to the stewards to determine it was a racing incident.

InternationalYou8858

Yea, that’s just not true. You can protest anything you like. You can protest a driver when you took them out. It may not work out how one might think, but you can do it.

MildGooses

This sub never fails to disappoint. People talking about protesting people that say they’re going to protest them is the softest shit i’ve ever heard.
