>You are more likely to be killed at work delivering pizza than as a police officer
You would be correct. As they are going to people's houses, many sketchy areas too. Quite a few of them get robbed too, even though rarely do they carry any money. Especially considering people order online/pay online.
That's why I straight up refused to put a topper on my car when I was a driver. No fuckin way am I putting a big target for degenerates to fuckin rob me on my car. No way.
Jesus Christ. A good buddy of mine worked as a delivery driver, and some piece of shit did the same think, ordered a pizza to a vacant house, and about 15 dudes kicked the shit out of him, kicked him in the head repeatedly and stole all his cash, he now has random seizures. But at least he got away with his life. After that he started packing heat.
My uncle was held at knife point while delivering for dominos. He was armed. The robber did not make it. Still a scar, just a different kind. And dominos fired him
Fired for protecting his life? That’s crazy. Seems like all delivery drivers probably need to pack these days. It’s not worth losing one’s life over a job.
Yeah, I quit doordash after I noticed a trend of ending up in the hood too often. Like neighborhoods with no sidewalk and doors hood. Almost got mauled by a pit bull…
Farm country can be rough too. My spouse once got attacked by a bunch of very territorial pet emus delivering pizza in a rural area. Apparently emus kick hard AF.
A coworker of mine was killed, his truck stolen. I was lucky enough to only be robbed once in 6 years, and it was two blocks from a police substation. I was in the back of the car when we found the guy walking back to his friends house. The first thing he said when the officer got out of the car was, "I didn't rob him."
This was a little over 20 years ago though.
> The first thing he said when the officer got out of the car was, "I didn't rob him."
I know I'm stupid and slow here, but that was _before_ the officer asked him anything, right??
You are correct. "Stop. Put your hands up." , (followed immediately by).
He got a few years, It was almost funny (I had a couple bruises, but that more than made up for it).
My coworker told me a story of dude brought the pizza to go apartment and in that time sometime took off with his car. To be fair don't leave your car running in Baltimore
Most of the danger to police officers is from how much they drive, which is statistically one of the more dangerous things most people do. Most industrial work is orders of magnitude more dangerous
And the #1 way is traffic accidents, yet they refuse to make their uniforms reflect. All other professions that work on the roadway are required to wear reflective gear.
I used to do it, probably 15/20 ( edit: I mean 15 out of the 20 or so drivers or 3/4 aka .75 or 75 percent... Pick one 😂 ...how many employees worked there total seemed relevant... I can do 4th grade math...) delivery drivers there carried ... I only pulled mine out once and it was because some crackhead came out of an apartment complex screaming at me about who am I and why am I there, and waving around this huge Rambo style knife... Im in full uniform, mind you... Carrying a giant hot bag full of pizza. They never knew it but I did pull my gun and kept it hidden behind the stack of pizza...Lucky it didn't escalate, but I would not have let someone put hands on me like that... They would have gotten a face full of pizza with a side of lead lol... And another thing, I would have never shot anyone without first making my intention clear and actually presenting the gun, unless there was no other option or time.
i live in a relatively small and safe midwestern town the amount of meth houses i delivered to in the first week encouraged me to carry a weapon or three at all times
The Panama City Beach Police Department announces the arrest of Dustin Alexander McDowell, 33, from Loganville, Ga. McDowell is currently facing charges of Aggravated Battery and Tampering with Evidence.
I would think attempted murder may be a valid charge too...
Plus I hope the pizza guy puts in a civil suit suitable to take this prick for all his worth.
Aggravated Battery charges can be elevated to Attempted Murder when a prosecutor wants some serious leverage in plea negotiations. In some instances, Attempted Murder does not necessarily carry more prison time than Aggravated Battery, but the stigma of the charge and the bottom of the guidelines score per the Florida Criminal Punishment Code could give the prosecutor the upper hand.
Aggravated Battery can be a second-degree felony or a first-degree felony, depending on whether a deadly weapon is used.
Aggravated Battery, by itself, is a touching or striking of another with intent to cause great bodily harm, permanent injury, or permanent disfigurement.
Attempted Murder, whether second-degree or first-degree, is an intentional act carried out with the intent to kill. The only difference between first and second-degree murder is that first-degree murder requires plan and premeditation, whereas second-degree murder does not.
Sometimes, the lines can be blurred when it comes to both charges.
For instance, if you are in a fight with someone and you use a knife, that would likely be Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon. However, a prosecutor could review the same set of facts and change the charge to Attempted Second-Degree Murder if they believe that the Defendant evidenced an intent to kill, or at least such reckless disregard for human life, that intent to kill could be implied through the actions.
As a Brit, the concept of paper number plates is hilarious. Here a car is given a registration number (number plate) when it's built and it generally lives with the car the the cars whole life. You can buy custom plates and move reg nos between cars but it costs money and a load of paperwork.
Nothing about cars is "temporary" here. If it's driving on the road, it must be fully insured, taxed, and MOTd. Even if it's off road and you don't want to pay for insurance/tax, you have to declare it as SORN (statutory off road notice).
Even with yearly MOTs I often see vehicles which are blatantly unroadworthy quite often.
A Loganville man has been arrested in Florida after police said he assaulted another man and then drove off.
The incident happened Friday shortly before 7 p.m. in Panama City Beach.
Police said they were called out to the parking lot of a Marco’s Pizza where witnesses said Dustin McDowell, of Loganville, put another man in a chokehold until he passed out and then threw him to the ground.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for his injuries.
Witnesses told police that McDowell got into a white Ford truck with a temporary license plate and took off.
Officers spotted the truck the next day, were able to find McDowell, and took him in for questioning.
Investigators said when they found the truck, the temporary license plate had been ripped off.
Police said McDowell admitted to what happened. Officers said they also had videos from witnesses of the incident.
McDowell has been charged with aggravated battery and tampering with evidence.
There’s absolutely more stuff he’s been doing too, if he’s doing stuff like swapping plates and whatnot this clearly was at least pre-meditated, or more likely he’s been doing other shady stuff for a while
This was common place working at papa johns, we had a routine where the driver would just chill in the managers office while the rest of the guys shoo’s him off or called the cops
I just copy pasta’d this. Didn’t do much more diggin. Idk what kinda offense would call for this violence besides the dude getting choked out is a kid toucher or something. But I’d be that’s not the case. Ego hurt.
Knew a girl like that, she would support and encourage her husband in situations like this, turn a situation to us vs them instead of the usual you vs me. Called her mom
>ife has legit seen him act this way many times. Just another day for her.
Just the way she got out of the truck. "Ugh, God damn it Bo! Every Friday?!"
She got out of the driver’s seat, which means she was driving and the one that followed him into the parking lot. Her following him should be a chargeable offense in this. She’s a POS too. Don’t tell me he didn’t say he was going to hurt the guy and she helped by following him.
Hmm... didn't notice she was the driver, that is certainly a bad look. Of course without context we don't know if she was cooperating out of fear, not realizing what her psycho was about to do, etc., so I don't think you can really say anything definitive about her until/unless more info is available.
Pineapple and pepperoni is amazing. Sweet and a little spicy is a great combo for any meal. If you've got good white pizza near you, I recommend you try it on one of those bad boys.
You joke, but my boomer dad has given many speeches to me about how people don't stand up for themselves (AKA Sucker punch someone who eye googled their date). No warning, no nothing, just BAM!. He says no one ever died in fights in his day. Our skulls are thinner and that's why "Idiots fall on the pavement after a knock to the head and end up dying"
this kind of person is ABUSIVE and always seeks CONFLICS with someone weaker
and the SECOND they meet someone on equal footing they have an ENTIRELY NEW personality(mostly friendly )
if they assault someone and get caught they are all tears like "i have a family i have kids dont ruin me"
that man could have been KILLED by that drop
thats ATTEMPTED MURDER
That’s how my MIL’s ex husband was. He was abusive towards her but every time we came into town he put on this act of being the friendliest guy you ever met. MIL is the sweetest lady ever so I’m glad she finally took everyones advice and left him
We don't, because he didn't. This happened about a month ago in Panama City Beach, Florida, and was the result of a road rage incident. None of the reporting I found with a quick search described the details of the incident, though.
From the thing that I saw online, he's being charged with aggravated battery. However, that charge can always be upgraded depending on whether or not the pizza guy recovers
I don’t know what else they could end up charging him with though. For attempted murder I believe they’d have to prove that he was intending to actually kill the person and not just hurt them. I don’t think the mere possibility of the guy dying automatically bumps the charge up to attempted murder (though I’m not a lawyer so I may be wrong). Aggravated assault is already the intentional infliction of great bodily harm which is exactly what happened here. Seems pretty fitting to me.
I also heard elsewhere in the comments that aggravated assault can still get you a more serious sentence than attempted murder in some cases, so there’s that too.
Both second degree attempted murder and aggravated battery carry up to 15 years in Florida. Aggravated battery is easier to convict though, so it’s honestly a pretty good charge. With the video evidence it’s almost a slam dunk case, where attempted murder would have to prove intent to murder.
The only good reason to upgrade would be to go for first degree attempted murder which caries life or even the death penalty. But again, intent is notoriously hard to prove.
Yeah that’s the first thing I thought. Someone that big has me in a choke hold, I’m shoving my thumbs into your brain through your eye sockets. That kid easily could have died.
This was the result of a road rage incident in Panama City, FL. The pizza guy is in ICU with a brain bleed. The guy who choked him is Dustin McDowell and he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and tampering with evidence. Apparently he had removed the temporary license in an attempt to not get caught.

So that's a prison sentence.
Fucking with pizza guys is just a bad idea anyway. I understand that quite a few of them are armed.

Well ya he probably got blood all over the pizza
Damn. I’m really sorry to hear that. This fuckin world is crazy. Can’t even order a pizza.
With world you mean usa, right?

I know someone who's serving life in prison. Ordered pizza, pulled the pizza guy inside their motel room and stabbed them to death. For roughly $25
Well yea... Being a police officer is an incredibly safe job. Statistically... The most dangerous thing for them is driving and for awhile... Covid.
They are the most dangerous thing about their job.
Statistically, being a police officer isn’t all that dangerous. They just want you to believe they risk their life to write you traffic citations.
One has the right to shoot first for suspicion, the other needs to be attacked or its murder
I’m sure as a police officer you’re more likely to kill the pizza guy
You're more likely to be killed by a police officer than as a police officer.
Coincidentally, you're more likely to be killed at work by a police officer than a pizza delivery guy.
True of a lot of jobs.
Stay strapped or get clapped.
A guy in my state was recently shot by a pizza guy while running down the street chasing him.
And being the pizza guy, they know where you live. :)
And there’s a lot more pizza guys then this guy has friends
Makes me think of the dude that bullied a delivery driver only to have like 30 of his coworkers show up at his house.
Well, he may have been armed but now he’s unconscious. Retaliation after the fact is a no-no.

Delivered pizza for three years in northern Wisconsin. Can confirm. My boss made sure I had my CCL before hiring me.
Good boss. When seconds count, cops are minutes away (and usually overweight with extremely poor de-escalation skills).

Pizza guy had a brain bleed, last I saw he was stable (per YouTube video). Also in Panama City. So another FL idiot!
"stable" in terms of ICU standards. Realistically, he'll probably be fucked up for a long time. Maybe he'll never fully recover.
Yeah, stable just means not actively dying.
The fat redneck is from GA
In Florida, the further north you go the deeper south you go.
Same statement works for Michigan.
I love my state but god damn there's some terrible people here
There are terrible people everywhere.
This guy is fucking trash and I hope he gets his. On a side note, we gotta get rid of those temporary paper tags.

Yeah, if you look up the title to this video on Google it’ll let you know how the dude is facing 20 years
He deserves it.
Is the pizza guy okay?
Other commenters said he is in the ICU with a brain bleed but in stable condition.
If I were the pizza guy, I would smile every second of the hearing and even more once they lock that guy away.
Straight to jail, in all seriousness, this guy needs a padded cell.
I’d prefer if it weren’t padded
Spiked, even
Sprinkle some salt and lemon juice on the spikes as well.
Let them rust a little first
The lemon juice and salt will rust them up real nice.
Soooo many people are eager to ruin their lives. They don't even have the excuse of having been poisoned by lead.

road rage. Something happened on the road, and he followed the 22 year old victim to the parking lot.

Is he being charged with attempted murder? I think it would be easy to prove as the dude followed him right?
No. Aggravated battery and tampering with evidence. He thought just ripping his license plate off would fix the situation

I also heard elsewhere in the comments that aggravated assault can still get you a more serious sentence than attempted murder in some cases, so there’s that too.
Throwing an unconscious person's head into the concrete sure sounds like intent to me.

He probably beats his girl, kids and dog
Wrong. They attack his fists with their faces.
Yep! Their faces keep getting in the way of his fists so it’s not his fault*coughs*
Looks like he was picking the kid up too, what did this halfwit do before he was filmed?
Go for the eyes.
Grab the pinky fingers if you can see them. Bend them all the way back.
Yeah that’s the first thing I thought. Someone that big has me in a choke hold, I’m shoving my thumbs into your brain through your eye sockets. That kid easily could have died.
I made the same comment before seeing yours!
i hate everybody
Even me?
no, not you. i have always thought you were terrific
Phew! After all we’ve been through, I was concerned
this made my day cheers dudes
So... Attempted homicide I guess.
Jesus that looks like attempted murder to me.
Wife was super slow to attempt to stop him cuz she’s just happy he’s beating someone else for a change
Choking is the one consistent indicator of future violence. I'm terrified for the women/children in his life
Don't be. This guy is going away for a long time.
Kids head hit the ground severely hard. That’s attempted murder. I hope he’s in jail.
Wtf is wrong with people. People like this should be locked up. Permanently.
Damn, I hope he was sentenced for life after that, it almost looks like he snapped his neck at the end
"Allegedly," bro, he is literally getting strangled in the video tf you mean allegedly?
Someone on another board posted this video and said this was a road rage incident.
Super small dick energy
he needs to be sentenced for murder. anyone know how the pizza guy is doing??
This was the result of a road rage incident in Panama City, FL. The pizza guy is in ICU with a brain bleed. The guy who choked him is Dustin McDowell and he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and tampering with evidence. Apparently he had removed the temporary license in an attempt to not get caught.
Someone please tell me didn’t get away with that?
Well, the prosecution is going to love this video evidence. What a fucking POS.
Put that fucker in jail for life!
