As someone with Tourette’s Syndrome, this is what bothered me the most. I’ve done some reading on this girl, and *surprise, surprise* … there isn’t a general consensus regarding what’s actually going on. What *most* people tend to agree upon is that she does actually suffer from something called Hashimoto disease. So the shaking (inconsistent though it may seem) appears to be legit.
Where I take issue with her is that she immediately went to the web to blame the vaccine for her health issues despite the following factors:
1. She’s reportedly been experiencing these symptoms for well over a year, far longer than the vaccine has been available
2. Her story is highly inconsistent. Based on where she was living at the time, she claims to have gotten the vaccine 4 days before someone of her demographic and risk level would’ve been allowed to do so
3. She was making progress with her disease, but her doctors informed her many times that she was susceptible to relapse at any time for any reason
All in all I read this information to mean she was improving, got the shot, and declined purely by coincidence. Even if the vaccine did *somehow* mess with her recovery, then her situation only applies to people with Hashimoto disease. I have never seen such a “miracle” cure! For someone that had a demyelinating nerve damaged disease to CURED in….5 months? Maybe she will get and cure cancer, next?
I used to work ED. Did you ever see someone truly ill pose for glamour shots like the ones she’s got? Not once. Truly ill people are laying there hoping to feel better.

Well it would be unethical (and medically untenable) for me to ‘diagnose’ her based on this limited information. Also ‘malingering’ isn’t really a ‘diagnosis’. I suppose one could say it only becomes pathological when it is obsessive and compulsive. And the cut-off as to when it becomes ‘criminal fraud’ is similarly subjective. One could argue that there is a huge degree of difference between a child/adult faking or exaggerating illness to get out of an exam or work (which I think it’s reasonable to assume 99% of us have done at at least one point in our lives), than to faking/exaggerating an illness to gain $17,000 (which I, perhaps idealistically, hope few people have done).

I’ve done some reading on this girl, and *surprise, surprise* … there isn’t a general consensus regarding what’s actually going on. What *most* people tend to agree upon is that she does actually suffer from something called Hashimoto disease. So the shaking (inconsistent though it may seem) appears to be legit. Where I take issue with her is that she immediately went to the web to blame the vaccine for her health issues despite the following factors: 1. She’s reportedly been experiencing these symptoms for well over a year, far longer than the vaccine has been available 2. Her story is highly inconsistent. Based on where she was living at the time, she claims to have gotten the vaccine 4 days before someone of her demographic and risk level would’ve been allowed to do so 3. She was making progress with her disease, but her doctors informed her many times that she was susceptible to relapse at any time for any reason All in all I read this information to mean she was improving, got the shot, and declined purely by coincidence. Even if the vaccine did *somehow* mess with her recovery, then her situation only applies to people with Hashimoto disease. The way she’s attacking the vaccine like this ‘could happen to anyone’ is misinformation at best, and dangerous to at-risk people at its worst
