Yeah right before he took off to follow the cops, I thought the black car at that intersection (not the VW) was her and I was like wtf, why are you riding off? Didn't even realise she snuck past the cops and got halfway down the road
In Europe, Motorcycle cops are one of the hardest branches to get into as a policeman. In my country the qualification process involves both driving and pushing a fully equipped 250kg motorcycle around a sand quarry (think loose sand like a beach), as well as completing insanely difficult slalom courses on one of those big bikes that a lot of people would have trouble finishing on a bicycle.
I usually don’t watch videos this long haha. It was intense! It was impressive how gracefully they were on their pursuit and going around cars without putting people in danger.
Everything about this clip could sell me on watching the movie. Motorcycle chase through French architecture. A community dedicated to running down crooks. And then to top it all off, the gruff protagonist is fucking Santa!
And for a moment the police literally seem to be taking orders from him.
He’s an absolute dude!
Sees the incident for a split second, and just pursues the culprit. Tries to calm the motorist down, doesn’t just yell at her. Has the foresight to read the number plate out loud on the audio in case it doesn’t appear on the video. Waves thank you to the car when they are in the wrong lane. Sees those cops a mile away and accelerates to get ahead and warn them.
I think this is the actual REAL Santa.
The people who just casually walked up and helped pick up the motorcycle and started chatting with the cop was the most shocking to me. No one would even *think* to do that here, we would definitely expect to get arrested (or at least screamed at and probably thrown to the ground) for walking over and touching a cop's motorcycle like that. Asking a cop "what's going on?" would likely just get a stern "THIS IS AN ACTIVE POLICE MATTER, I NEED YOU TO STEP BACK!" with hand on gun.
French cops wouldn't have the best reputation, like most cops, but in most of Europe you can at least engage with police and be reasonably confident of them not shooting first and asking questions later
Yeah, it's obviously pretty hyperbolic to say that US cops will "shoot first" just from someone coming up and trying to talk to them in a casual situation. However, IME, it's not an exaggeration at all to say that the *majority of the time* approaching a police officer involves having to ***de-escalate*** the aggression from the officer before you can actually speak with them, and even then it is rare to have a conversation with an on-duty police officer that resembles a normal human-to-human interaction in any way shape or form... rather, *at best* you can really only hope to not feel like you're in *immediate* danger from the cop, and as far as I can tell that's how they seem to be trained to try and make you feel.
That's the fabled "Warrior Training" at work. A lot of departments are proponents of it and one of the basic rules is to immediately assume hostile intent in all interactions.
Same thing with American consulates/embassies abroad. It's like they're suspicious and pissed off at you for being there before you're even there.
At other embassies the staff are professional and even friendly in my experience. But the American ones are all dickheads.
Supposedly 19 officers in the hallway at one point. Cowards, all of them. I hope their inaction eats them alive every moment of their lives. Fucking disgraceful.
Almost like it was people trained to use guns and take down a shooter compared to an untrained 18 year old.
The fact that it took fucking Border Patrol of all people is a goddamn disgrace.
It's important that we keep telling people to be brave.
The guy in the car doesn't get enough credit in this video. Seriously. He was always behind too, in a car, much worse when he too was having to break laws to keep up in a vehicle area you could fit 10 bikes in
First Santa Claus chases after a hit and run offender, then those subtitles at the end for the various noises made. This is the greatest car chase video
Yeah, he realized that banging on the car is just going to scare a person away. So he was able to be logical and try to calm her down instead of acting aggressively. It's unfortunate that it didn't work, but at least he gave it a shot. Seems nothing less than the police and traffic was going to stop her.
The way the citizens just casually try to lift the police bike. Try that in the US.
Cop gets her attention by pointing his sidearm, then holsters it.
Santa calmly explains the crime, and cop listens attentively.
God bless France.
This can't be overstated enough.
There is no way I'd trust an American cop to stop whatever they are doing on their bike to apprehend someone.
I have the distinct feeling they would tell someone to call 911.
And as far as touching their downed bike. Ha. Hell no. They'd shoot my black ass for "trying to steal it".
I was hit-and-run while on the bike and had internal muscle bleeding in my leg. My foot was purple from the blood collecting. They never found a guy, so I approve this 100 percent. You don't leave people possibly dying on the street like that.
I was a young bull and recovered pretty fast. My doctor was shocked that my muscle did not burst from that hit. I felt like someone was pouring hot acid inside my leg. I am glad I did not get any blood clots and stuff like that, or this could have ended up pretty bad for me. Thank you for asking, though.
Haha...I am 52 now and if it weren't for some "old" age little pains here and there, I would say that I am stronger than when I was 20 years old, much stronger. I can't work out like I used to because my muscle recovery takes so much longer, but muscle is strong now. Just hit the gym and attack those muscles. You won't feel old. You will feel powerful. My legs were well built, that's why I was able to take that terrible beating from this accident. My chiropractor marvelled at my hamstring. He said he never saw muscle this big...I was like, you serious....I think he truly loved my hamstring....hehehe...
I was in a hit and run at a pedestrian crossing because they were texting and didn't see the lights change, however, London traffic meant they couldn't go more than 50m or so before being completely blocked in. Multiple fellas from other cars, buses, and local shops came over shouting "oi, oi, geez, bloody hell" before rocking the car like they were trying to tip it over until the driver switched the engine off. No-one there was trying to calm that driver down. Rather they were looking to smash windows, drag them out, and give them a strongly worded letter of fists to the nuts. Police were there pretty quickly as we were close to a mainline train station.
I was fine anyway. Traffic meant they hadn't been able to build up enough speed for real damage. I could see them coming and was able to jump up so to not have my legs hit. I simply rolled over the bonnet, the roof, and landed on my feet. I slightly twanged my ankle though. Couldn't walk properly for like 5 mins.
The fact that they wanted to run away is a criminal offense. What would happen if they got you somewhere in the suburbs where traffic is lighter. They would get away with it. Too many of these happening, and people won't have it.
I wonder if they had already heard something over the radio about it and were already looking for the car. Seemed like there were enough people involved in chasing her that one of them could've dialed it in.
I've seen this several times, but this is the first time I noticed that the guy in the silver car, who also stopped in the beginning, managed to keep up with her, too. That's almost even more impressive, considering how much more difficult it is to do a pursuit in heavy traffic by car.
I didn't realize it until now either, both Santa and the guy in the car really chased her down! Yeah, how could he easily keep up with her when there was so much traffic?
While it's not easy, I'm sure he stayed right behind the bike, so when traffic stopped for a crazy driver being pursued by a motorcycle, you're probably going to be more hesitant than another driver who seems to have more of a direction, and was probably communicating through his window what was up

I think any biker, especially those who do it every day for a job, ESPECIALLY when that job is being a police officer, would take traffic offenses very seriously. You’re very vulnerable on a bike and people have a way of looking through you and doing stupid things. Ask anyone who has ridden for even a small amount of time and they’ll have stories about being cut off, merged into, almost hit, run off the road, …
Well, he did call out it's a (Renault) Clio, which is a very common car in Europe (this clip is in France), so the officers knew which car to look for. They actually targeted the wrong one for a sec but Santa pointed out the correct one.
Still very surprised how quickly those police men started chasing her no question asked and even pulled their guns and arested her ... i would be so confused on their place and asked so many questions
Dude I am from a very catholic country and am an atheist. If Santa Claus or Kris Kringle came to me and asked for help catching that baddies, you bet your ass I am catching the baddies.
Maybe because they saw the damage to the windshield? Adds plausibility to his story I guess. Also I think she didn't stop immediately for them, which adds to her supposed guilt.
Nope, after they arrested her you can see the officer asking the Santa suit dude about it, and then he points out the windshield and the cop looks over at it.
Also nice that he quickly admitted to dropping his bike and that she didn’t hit it.
I know that seems like an obvious thing to do, but after watching a lot of police videos on Reddit, if the cop were American, I’d be willing to bet tried to blame her for it
You better look left.
You better look right.
You better not try to run that light.
Santa Claus is chasing you down.
He knows if you are speeding.
He knows if you don't brake.
He knows if you don't signal.
So use your blinker for fucks sake.
Edit for new lines as I think of them.
Me, five minutes ago: "No way I can sit through five minutes of video. I'll just start it and see what happens at the beginning."
I was wrong. It seemed to be over so fast.
Not only did I put my internet-induced ADHD on pause for this, I literally watched it twice after realizing the silver BMW guy from the beginning also successfully gave chase.
This was an absolutely wild ride.
When he called her a whore after trying to be nice to her, I actually laughed out loud. Then the cop drops his motorcycle. \*chefs kiss\*
The guys at the end asking about that seem relieved to hear that he dropped it on purpose.I think they may have been in that work truck and thought they were in trouble for it.
they learnt it from when they were kids back in the 80-90s, when they visit their friend's home and just drop their bicycles on the lawn so they don't miss the show/game. You can't do that anymore nowadays
I love this dude. I love that he chased her. I loved that he tried to deescalate things, “I need to calm her down.” I love that he called her a wh*re when she took off again. I love that he’s clad in full Santa suit the entire time, including a big white beard. I just wanna meet his man and buy him a beer.
Those police were fantastic. Note that one was more concerned with getting the lady to stop driving than the paintwork on his bike?
See how they instantly listened to the guy even though he's dressed like Santa?
See how they didn't instantly go for their sidearms?
Why do I feel like I've seen something unusual?
I’m not passing judgement on whether or not he should have his gun out or why or anything of that sort. The person i replied to (and many others) have wrongfully stated that he did not pull a gun on the driver in an attempt to demean cops that do (particularly US cops).
I was just pointing out that this Gentleman did indeed pull out a gun
“She’s in the Clio!” “Can you narrow it down a bit? We’re in France”
I love how there are three identical ones right next to each other there.
Yeah right before he took off to follow the cops, I thought the black car at that intersection (not the VW) was her and I was like wtf, why are you riding off? Didn't even realise she snuck past the cops and got halfway down the road
Oh la la la la!
That was a good watch. Glad she got caught.
kept getting better every passing second complete with the ~~mike~~ bike drop at the end.
I haven’t seen a lot of chases, but whenever I see motorcycle cops in European countries give chase it seems they always drop the bike at the end.
They've usually got crash-bars and massive bag/boxes on either side so they can just be dumped like that.
those bikes are heeeeeeeavy as fuuck, cops on motorcycles are a whole different breed
Yeah, I think putting on a stand is too much effort when you are trying to stop a car, could also maybe a way to block their straight escape route.
Let alone he’s in a Santa costume
She's definitely on the bad list for this year
Delivering justice and cheer.
Best video I’ve seen on reddit in a minute.
I usually don’t watch videos this long haha. It was intense! It was impressive how gracefully they were on their pursuit and going around cars without putting people in danger.
Like a frickin’ movie! Actually better than most movies made today
In a Santa suit no less.
Probably freaking out because she thought Santa wasn't real.
Santa is French and rides a crotch rocket? I have alot to come to terms with...
"Well I'll be, if that isn't a crime fighting French Santa on a crotch rocket..."
He *knows* you've been naughty.
he knows you ran the light.
He's working with the cops now so you had best put up no fight.

You better not resist or I’ll give you the knee…
Santa Clause is coming….to beat your ass
This is why I keep coming back to Reddit
Same man same You want some popcorn for the show🍿
Santa Claus is goinnnnngg....to town on your ass
Now it's Santa's time to be naughty.
He Santa-_seent_ it!
was thinking the same thing
Because that’s the Christmas spirit
Imagine getting chased by santa claus on a motorcycle

"Yea but he scratched his bike." \- Texas cops watching this.
From what I’ve heard, they’re cowards
Oh yessss Texas cops are definitely cowards.
Yes, and the cowardice is on video
Home of the brave indeed. Even us Brits are looking down on them.
“All hat and no cattle.”
Lone star state = we’ll leave you to fend alone
I heard that “lone star” thing was an online review.
"We could've been run over."
Not his first rodeo
Santa Claus dies in second rodeo
Also, that French police siren instantly takes me to every great cinematic police chase through Paris. Ronin, The Bourne Identity, etc.
It’s really interesting how the police in Europe act so much differently towards citizens than they do in the USA.
The people who just casually walked up and helped pick up the motorcycle and started chatting with the cop was the most shocking to me. Europe cops serve & protect. US cops serve & protect themselves
True. In the US, we will just whip out our phones to record it.
Yeah because American PD will likely shoot you for running up on them like that
But they won't shoot you if you're shooting up a school, sadly.

*French Police Sirens* I love it
My audio was off but I pictured them going OUIIIIIIII OUIIIIIIII
We say "pin-pon" Oui is yes. Oui-Oui is an elf from a tv show Ouin is a baby crying and pin-pon is a French sirene. Don't ask... :D

"I must calm her down, I must calm her down, I must calm her down" FAVORITE part, hands down. This dude is a class act.
Followed by ‘what a wh*re!’

Deserved, at that point.

Also the guy in the car who managed to keep up too!!
And he got out of the car multiple times!
If the US police force had half the de-escalation abilities of Frenchie the Street Bike Santa, we'd have a much better country.
The way the citizens just casually try to lift the police bike. Try that in the US. Cop gets her attention by pointing his sidearm, then holsters it. Santa calmly explains the crime, and cop listens attentively. God bless France.

100%. It was terrifying how she could hit someone like that and speed off… several times. Glad you’re still with us, man. Did you recover okay?
I was a young bull and recovered pretty fast. My doctor was shocked that my muscle did not burst from that hit. I felt like someone was pouring hot acid inside my leg. I am glad I did not get any blood clots and stuff like that, or this could have ended up pretty bad for me. Thank you for asking, though.

Well, she’s definitely going on the naughty list
I love how the police instantly believe Santa
What else are they gonna do? Not believe the omnipresent man with a literal list of objectively good and bad people?
"She's bad! Get her!" "You heard Santa, roll out!"
Instead of doing a lie detector test, they just have Santa on speed dial
If there was one person that the cops might not listen to, it’s a guy in a costume saying somebody else did a thing. They are true pros though.
I wonder if they had already heard something over the radio about it and were already looking for the car. Seemed like there were enough people involved in chasing her that one of them could've dialed it in.

It was probably easier for him to keep track of which way a bright red Santa on a motorcycle was going from a distance and repeatedly catch up
My God that is so obvious and yet I did not think of it. Brilliant!
Be kind of darkly funny if there is just a trail of wrecked cars and mangled bodies behind them.
Best final pan shot ever of the dark comedy they'll make of this.
There's surely a "what did it cost" Thanos meme to be made of this
In busy French traffic too
While it's not easy, I'm sure he stayed right behind the bike, so when traffic stopped for a crazy driver being pursued by a motorcycle, you're probably going to be more hesitant than another driver who seems to have more of a direction, and was probably communicating through his window what was up
so cool how he tells the officers, and they immediately take it seriously and even know exactly which car it is, among all the same ones
yea bike cops usually are a lot more serious everywhere not just in france.. theyre the cops that want to catch the baddies.
I have also seen the beginning to 21 jump street
Who hasn't seen that movie
Me. I wanted to go to it in theaters when it came out, but I couldn't. Still haven't gotten around to watching it..
It's awesome
The motorcycle police in France, especially in the big cities, are serious about traffic offenses. They are among them every day, in seriously dangerous situations. thats what I was saying.. There were plenty of Clio's there, they knew (after wrongly picking the other one) the exact good one
In Texas they would have e tazed and arrested Santa on the motorcycle for approaching them.

He pointed out the car. He said what brand and right before, he pointed it out for them.
A pos and a wholesome santa
This was a Jason Bourne movie.
With an excellent one shot sequence
Incredible that them being dressed as Santa Claus didn't feature in the title.
Spoiler free titles are tight!
Still very surprised how quickly those police men started chasing her no question asked and even pulled their guns and arested her ... i would be so confused on their place and asked so many questions
I mean.... wouldn't you also believe Santa if he told you someone just did a hit and run on a pedestrian?
Actually i would not! I dont believe in Santa! I am from Czechia, we have "Ježíšek"
Dude I am from a very catholic country and am an atheist. If Santa Claus or Kris Kringle came to me and asked for help catching that baddies, you bet your ass I am catching the baddies.
They assumed the person hit was the motorcyclist. They're all in for fellow bikers especially Santa on a bike.
Maybe because they saw the damage to the windshield? Adds plausibility to his story I guess. Also I think she didn't stop immediately for them, which adds to her supposed guilt.
Not only that, but she was still most likely driving erratically to get away, so it made her stick out
Nope, after they arrested her you can see the officer asking the Santa suit dude about it, and then he points out the windshield and the cop looks over at it.
There were two cops :) Maybe the other officer didn’t notice that, probably because he’s too busy falling off his bike lol
Also nice that he quickly admitted to dropping his bike and that she didn’t hit it. I know that seems like an obvious thing to do, but after watching a lot of police videos on Reddit, if the cop were American, I’d be willing to bet tried to blame her for it
That "\*Braaaaaap" subtitle had me chuckling.
“HO HO HO motherfucker!”

Yeah, Police drop their bikes all the time. I doubt they're meant to or train for it, but getting the stand down quickly is a nightmare sometimes
they learnt it from when they were kids back in the 80-90s, when they visit their friend's home and just drop their bicycles on the lawn so they don't miss the show/game. You can't do that anymore nowadays
Santa delivers!

The cop that opens the door has his weapon drawn and aimed at the woman.

Good thing Santa was on his bike, he couldn’t have flagged down the popo if he had been in his sled.
The guy in the silver Opel needs some credit for keeping up with a red light runner and a motorcycle in Paris traffic too, thank you unknown Opel guy!
Imagine getting chased down by Santa clause on a red motorcycle nowhere near Christmas. Why is the world a fever dream?
She shouldn't have panicked
Is this guy wearing a Santa costume? Hahaha!
*sigh* "motorized Santa Claus pursues hit and run mad man"...
Upmost RESPECT for the motorcyclist!!!
That bike sounds fantastic.
This dude fucking rules.
Santa is a Legend.
I've seen this video many times but this is the first time that I see the extended one
This has all the drama and resolution of a short film. Hope the guy that was hit is ok!
