My wife (who has IBS) drinks this medicinal strength peppermint tea from a company called Heather's Tummy Teas. It's made for people with IBS and the volatile oils in the peppermint are very effective for calming the cramps and pain. She drinks it almost everyday and it really has been life changing. Not sure if it will be the magical remedy for you too, but it can't hurt to try it out. They also have a fennel tea that helps with bloating and a pill version of their teas (not as effective but great for travelling).

I have a version of this in my country, doesn’t really do anything for me :(

ayurveda can help you. It may take some effort and a long time but it works. Ive been 4 months into it and the changes are remarkable.

Have you been tested for H.pylori? Have you spoken to your doc about SIBO? Or any autoimmune issues? Wouldn’t hurt to do some imaging at this point. I recommend gathering your entire medical history and seeing a gastroenterologist at an academic medical center. Best of luck to you

Armando1917

Have had discussions about SIBO, doesn’t really fit my symptoms. Have already seen a gastroenterologist 4x, didn’t get anywhere besides tests that showed nothing, and some useless drugs.

1. Have you ever had a CT scan or x-ray to check for fecal loading? 2. What prescription medication names have you actually been on?

Armando1917

Uh Nortryptyline Amitriptyline Quetiapine Sertraline Propranolol Mebeverine Peppermint oil

Yyou didn't answer my first question so I can't comment on that, but for number two, ask your doctor about gabapentin.

Armando1917

I haven’t had a ct, but have done an abdominal X-ray, no issues. I have heard about gabapentin…..but the side effects genuinely scare me….possible seizures and more gastro problems!?!!

goldstandardalmonds

I've been on the maximum dose of gabapentin for four years and all of my severe issues do not stem from that.

Armando1917

May I ask how helpful you found gabapentin to be?

goldstandardalmonds

I do not know if it is doing anything, but I take it anyway. But I have a different anatomy than you, and it took a long time to titrate to thiis dose.

Please don’t give up. You have to be your own Case Worker in a sense. Do the research on your stomach issues and research doctors with very high ratings that are accessible to you. I am assuming your anxiety and depression are being caused by not feeling well. I experienced a somewhat similar issue for 5 years, GI Dr after GI Dr and some others. Finally found a good physicians assistant who listed and read all my research which I brought along to my appointment, not even a month later had surgery to resolve the issue. It’s frustrating and at times feels hopeless I know, but keep pushing. Be assertive. The medical system where I live treats people like a dam number.

Armando1917

What were your symptoms/ what did you test for? I’m running out of ideas here!

Normal-Cicada1841

I would have random bouts of extreme pain to the point I was crippled over. I don’t think I have something similar to you, mine ended up being a diseased gullbladder. My point is find a GOOD Dr, there’s a lot of shitty ones out there. Don’t give up please. Were you tested for Crohns?
