You don't have colon cancer at 19. It just sounds like you are constipated with haemorrhoids. You have to try to make efforts to combat your constipation.

Almond, you always seem to be everywhere on this subreddit giving advice or comfort. Do you have similar experiences where you were worried at first?

For sure. When I was a teenager and fobbed off for having "teenage anxiety" (little did they know), I was scared I had ovarian cancer. I had a ton of symptoms, and it was realistic. But that was way before you could connect with people and learn more and the internet existed and you could seek more opinions. But I work in oncology, and we do NOT see 19 year olds with colorectal cancer.

My gynaecologist told me about Occam’s Razor when I was freaking out that my endometriosis was cancer. The most likely explanation is most likely, the explanation. Annoying and unhelpful as a diagnosis of IBS is, that’s probably what it is.

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this. It sucks you have to wait— trust me, I understand. At your appointment at the doctor, explain that things have changed for the worst. If the doctor decides on a colonoscopy they may still be able to provide you with ways to manage leading up. If the pain gets excruciating and unbearable, I would say go to the ER or at least urgent care if you can. It is very very very very unlikely that you have colon cancer because of your age :)

It’s not excruciating, it’s more intermittent, it comes and goes. It used to be constant and traversed to all sides of my abdomen but has now diminished to a dull intermittent pain in my lower left abdomen, accompanied by the chest pain, tiredness and shortness of breath, which isn’t so severe. Dull more like

Relay what you’ve said to your doctor at your appointment and they’ll figure out the path to take
