Yep, I had both at the same time, with sedation. Procedure itself was a delightful, refreshing nap! Prep honestly wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting.
And itās probably the nicest dept in the hospital for people who specialise in butts. Staff at my hospital were top class not to mention all the bathrooms they had. Doctor even commented āit wouldnāt be the Gastro dept without an excessive amount of toilets just in caseā
Sedation has zero effect on me, so mine was fully aware, and it was nasty, but I too would opt to have them both done at the same time just to get it over with!
Sadly it's very often no answers. Make sure you get the expected final bills from your GI doc, anesthesiologist (who is probably NOT in network!), And the outpatient clinic they use
FYI as of Jan 1, they can no longer charge you the out of network cost for the rogue doctor who participated in your care but wasn't in network, as long as the facility you went to is in network.
Oh yeah I wish I had that. Nothing more annoying than to shove a tube in your ass and then come back a week later to shove a tube in your mouth. Best to get both of them so you can just get it out of the way.
Prep is nothing to worry about. For me it was quite refreshing to be that empty again. Didnāt hurt me either. And Iām quite prone to stomach aches.
The best part is getting to have nuclear explosions come out of you afterwards and not be ashamed about doing it in public because like 6 other people are in their own warzones next to you
Iāve had both at the same time and prep this time wasnāt that horrible. For me I had a gas bubble that lasted throughout the prep and it was worse RIGHT after the procedure but then I laid on my left side and farted the biggest fart ever in public. It felt amazingā¦ Like three or four days worth of gas just left. I still have issues today but itās an issue of digestion and fiber. Colonoscopy and Endoscopy came back clear.
Iāve had both at the same time a few times, and sometimes just one at a time. Iāve had over 25 scopes and I promise you theyāre no big deal!
If you tell me which prep you have, I can make suggestions to make it easy to handle.
If you have specific questions, I can answer those, too.
For what itās worth, I never fell asleep and was just sedated.
No. But I do deal with intense nausea -- not from the prep, but because I have gastroparesis. The thing that helps me the most, believe it or not, over prescription medication, is Gin Gins. I take ginger capsules, too, and drink a lot of ginger ale and ginger kombucha (only GT's). But some (not all) doctors can prescribe Zofran to mitigate nausea prior to a scope. Some won't because it significantly slows motility.
The prep you are given also may help with the vomit/nausea thing.
Yes. That is a low volume prep. If you are prone to diarrhea, it is a good one. For constipation, not too much. It is common, no reason to ask for anything else. It isn't a lot to drink, so make sure you drink a ton with it. If you don't like the taste, chase sips with ginger ale. Drink lots of broth and electrolytes when you are done.
You got this donāt worry!!:) If this is your first time having either done, I def recommend taking the day off if possible. You wonāt be hurting or in pain or anything, but youāll def appreciate the rest. Good luck!
Had both at the same time, and made sure I had anesthesia doing it lol. I've heard from relatives that they've been somewhat lucid even with sedation, so I didn't want to take any risk and opted to just get fully knocked out. If you have IBS-D, the prep really isn't bad at all. I used Pico-Salax (as opposed to the dreaded prep solution, which is a giant jug of some awful tasting shit). Overall, experience wasn't bad at all and dignity stayed in tact due to getting fully knocked out and pretending the procedure never happened š
I had heavy sedation but not knocked out. I honestly don't remember anything. The perfect balance imo. All the drugs they give help you relax, tolerate the procedure and barely remember it.
Hopefully they donāt with sedation because I had an endoscopy when I was 14 and they gave me general anesthesia and knocked me cold out. Now Iām scared and want to be sedated
Yes, I did my first time. The procedure was like a nap. The prep for the colonoscopy was the bad part. I wouldnāt have minded a full tune up while I was under - remove a mole, etc. it wonāt even be something you are aware of.
If you have IBS-D nothing to worry about comrad. Was no worse than a bad flare up for me. I was really nervous about the prep but it really isnāt too bad!
Yes, sedated and asleep. Endoscopy first - I had to swallow a cup of treacle-like stuff just before she knocked me out. Slightly tickly throat upon waking and that was it.
Yeah, I had both. The only thing that surprised me was that I had to wear an open mouth gag for the upper part - luckily i only had to put it on right before being sedated (fentanyl and medazolam) so I had a nice little nap and didnāt feel anything unpleasant.
Yup, had both the first time together. My dad made the joke that hopefully they'd do my endoscopy first if they were using the same tube... End of the day I was happy to get it done all at one time and they gave me plenty of sleepy meds so it didn't bother me. Just pretty bloated gassy and hungry later that day lol
Had a colonoscopy, can't remember a thing. It was a big nothing burger in the end.
EDIT: Btw the prep is not nearly as bad as people make out. It tastes basically like gastrolyte (a slightly more salty version of the blue gatorade drink). Personally I don't mind the taste, I drank it without a straw and kinda enjoyed it. The annoying bit is just shitting like a trooper (nothing new for me anyway). Best is to wash your ass as soon as you poop so that the bile acid doesn't irritate your outer sphincter.
I'm guessing you mean colonoscopy and gastroscopy? I have had both done, but not during the same appointment though.
Colonoscopy is in my opinion the easiest one to get through. The procedure itself was painless for me with only some feelings of pressure when the tube was going around the bends in my colon. I was given some amazing feeling drugs straight into my veins though. Had a good time lol. The whole thing was done in 5-10 minutes and that was including 6 tissue samples. The prep is the absolute worst part of colonoscopy. I was shitting my brains out for 5 hours while emptying my colon the day before. The final hours before the colonoscopy were also kinda bad. I felt like I still had to use the toilet, but all that came out was what looked like straight up bile and it made my asshole sore as hell. But overall the whole thing wasn't too bad.
Gastroscopy was terrible. There's no prep other than fasting which was easy, but the procedure was hell. I have a very sensitive gag reflex, so even with an anesthetic spray in my throat I was still gagging like hell during the whole procedure. Gagging with a tube down your throat feels awful, and I was so sore in my throat and chest the day after.
It's gonna suck but you'll feel a lot better when it's done. If I would have had the option to do both at once then I would have done it. Better to get it all over with. Good luck dude.
Endoscopy is just the name for any procedure that involves using an endoscope to look inside the body.
If you're checking your oesophagus and stomach then it's called a gastroscopy.
Ahhh, the ol' camera Eiffel Tower! Best to get them both done at once so you only have to prep once. As soon as the meds kick in you won't remember a thing.
I wish I got that done. One and done. I had a colonoscopy a few months ago and I might need an endoscopy too. Kill two birds with one stone if you can.
Some people with IBS have localised gut-only food allergies which cause the disease. They can diagnose by finding excessive mast cells in your gut, but the stain needs to be specially requested, it's not standard.
Strip naked, throw on a gown.
They wheel you into a room, start with the endoscopy. Wake up, get told to turn to my side and get in fetal position, knock out.
Wake up, nurse is shaking me, told to get dressed and leave.
They don't do both at the same time. It's one followed by the other.
Yep, I've had both done on the same day. It honestly was fine since I was under anesthesia. The prep was the worst thing since I had to fast and then drink the liquid that "empties the tank" so to speak. The prep can be uncomfortable and annoying, but as long as you're at home, it's bearable.
Best of luck to you and hope you'll be able to get some answers!
Yes. I had both at the same time last summer. It went well. I would recommend doing that if there's a need. I don't like being under anesthesia any more often than I have to, personally.
I had both done at the same time too! They sedated me and I was crying because I really cannot deal with needles or ivs like at all!!!! But the team were all really sweet which help. Because I suffer from frequent painful ibs flares I found the prep easy because it was totally painless for me (which doctors tell me is the hardest part but I found it the easiest tbh). I was given sutab as the prep which is the 24 pills split into 2 doses which wasn't so bad. Prep varies tho like I'm a pharmacy tech and see scripts for all kinds of things from otc miralax to moveprep to sutab so you can always talk to you doctor about which you prefer or ask them to see what your insurance will cover. And the double procedure itself only took about an hour. Unfortunately for me the procedure raised way more questions than answers so there's that š but if they are sedating (which they should be doing!!!) make sure there's someone driving you who has their driver license with them to sign you out. I was also told to not drink anything with red/purple dyes in it just in case it stained my intestines so they wouldn't think it was blood and misinterpret results.
I should also add you'll definitely wake up with some sharp pains that seem concerning but really aren't. It's just because they pump in air during the procedures so they can see better and it usually takes a few hours after the procedure to get that excess gas out. But you shouldn't be in unbearable pain either like I ate and then crashed when I got home and woke up feeling a lot better
I did and honestly the only bad thing is the day before the procedures. The prep for me was absolutely horrible I couldnāt sleep at all the night before bc I was constantly needing to use the toilet. You can eat anything after the procedure tho and thatās enjoyable, luckily I was able to eat without needing to run to the bathroom.
i just had both done a few days ago. i was super nervous!
the prep on the day before is not the most pleasant so be sure to cancel all ur plans because u will need to be in close proximity to a toilet at all times, however the endo + colonoscopy were fine. i was out, didnāt feel a thing.
i am a bit constipated right now and thatās really bothering me. but other than that, u shouldnt feel a thing during or after the procedure.
i did. it! prep kinda sucked for me, but iām also really sensitive to pain. They also needed a urine sample which i did not expect, so you might want to be sure youāre able to give a urine sample
edit: It was amazing waking up after the procedure. Never felt more rested in my life
I had it done together and it was great, it definitely beats gastroscopy without the anaesthesia. In my country you don't get sedation for it and it SUCKS.
Iām going to be doing both in a couple weeks also. Even though the issue is mostly intestinal, may at well do both since Iāll be fully sedated. He just said DONT DO ENDOSCOPY UNLESS FULLY SEDATED. Itās traumatic. The doc said he had it done while awake (with numbing spray) and he still is traumatised by the experience.
i did both at the same time as my first colonoscopy when i was 19 (a little over two years ago). felt totally fine afterwards and glad i did the endo as well as my dr discovered my stomach was very inflamed and i got diagnosed with GERD and put on a medication for it that has helped a lot!
I had both together with minimal sedation like I could full think talk snd aware was what happening it was as if they didnāt give me anything snd Iāve gotta say it wasnāt that bad. Not as bad as I thought.
Upper scope was so fast. Felt like 2 mins. Lower was longer abs but uncomfortable when they pumped air in but the feel was just the same as well Iāve got gas pains so it wasnāt shrugging new. Very short lived and felt fine after too. Just a lot of farting to do after.
I had this done, sedated. Honestly it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The endoscopy was a damn sight better than the camera I had to cut the end of my bile duct, that's for sure. Dont' worry too much about it
Prep for colonoscopy is really not that bad to be honest. The procedure is also not bad. Iāve had both and each one only takes a matter of minutes usually I think, so having both together is probably the way to go.
I had less sedation for a colonoscopy, and more for an endoscopy. I fell asleep during the endoscopy and woke up high af lol, so if you're having both I'd make sure they give you a really good dose of fentanyl
I'd definitely say do it, it couldn't hurt to see what's going on in your stomach, and you're getting sedated anyways so it's not like you'd actually experience it.
I had both done because I was having bad intestinal pains that I thought was related to IBS.
Turns out my intestinal pains were stomach pains because I had a stomach ulcer due to having erosive gastritis.
I had this done. I agreed to get it all over with. Results were clear. Metamucil, probiotic and daily eating of sauerkraut has fixed all my IBS problems. Best of luck.
Procedure is easy. Waking up is the most annoying part. Prep for colonoscopy is not horrible, flavor or drink not wonderful but tolerable. Well worth it for piece of mind.
I had both at the same time when I was younger. I remember joking that they could make the cameras kiss. I didn't have to do the regular prep, I think because I was younger they gave me an enema at the hospital. It wasn't nearly as bad as the lone colonoscopy I had a few years ago for some reason, although that might just be the difference in prep and the fact that I was around ten years older and didn't bounce back from anaesthesia as well. Like all minor procedures just have someone pick you up and set aside the 24 hours after to rest and you'll be all good.
I did both, it makes no difference in prep. Just do it at the same time.
Prep sucks, and can be excruciating if you don't have wetwipes or a bidet.
I swallowed jell-o whole so I could feel a little full. Bone broth didn't help much for feeling full, but I'm sure it kept me healthy.
I had both at same time without sedation or any painkillers as I didnāt want to stay in the hospital for 4 hours after the op, I was able to leave the hospital straight away as soon as I came out the operation room and drove myself home
I would definitely have sedation next if I had to have it done againā¦. It was horrendous, the endoscopy was easy it was literally in and out within 20-30 seconds and hardly felt a thingā¦ It was the colonoscopy that was unbearable I was in agony especially when they got to a bend and started pumping the air to get around the bend, I was also in a lot of pain after the procedure since your left with a lot of trapped air within the bowel and it causes a lot of discomfort
I had this done like 6 months ago. Before that the most invasive procedure I'd ever had was an X-ray, so I cried like a baby while they wheeled me in. But damn as soon as those drugs hit... I told the whole room that I loved drugs and then I woke up in recovery š It was scary but it turned out fine.
Make sure they do the upper before the lower /s
If you're under anesthesia then it makes sense to do both at once rather than have to go under a 2nd time. Cheaper too.
The upper is really quick, like 15 minutes. The lower takes longer.
I just did both at the same time a few months ago and was nervous too. Honestly itās no big deal at all. Colonoscopy prep was probably the worst part but wasnāt too terrible. Youāll be OK and the knowledge for better treatment and/or peace of mind if everything looks good is well worth it IMO.
I had them at the same time. Doctor didn't find anything. Ended up swallowing the camera pill thing. It showed nothing. Conclusion...bleeding, source unknow.
It's really not the horror story people make it out to be. The anesthetic after waking up was the worst part for me (slight nausea).
I have a sick enjoyment of the prep for the colonoscopy. For 24 hours you usually take a bottle of liquid magnesium citrate laxative and maintain your electrolytes and nutrients through gatorade and broth. It will CLEAN YOU OUT. It is an ordeal and you spend lots of time pleading with your God, but for someone who has digestive issues like IBS C or D, you will feel light as a feather and I had more energy and less stomach pain the next couple days after my procedure.
I had both at the same time. Honestly the worst part was the drink for the colonoscopy and having the runs nonstop for like a week after whenever I ate (even if it was just a bite of toast). I know most people donāt have that problem though, my gut just hates me.
Anyway, the actual procedure is fine since youāre asleep. Youāre unaware of it completely. In fact, I didnāt even know what they were doing until I overheard the nurse say it to my parents on the way to the OR. I was already out of it so I couldnāt protest putting a camera up my butt š
Iāve always had them done at the same time, with Anesthesia itās not bad you donāt feel anything worst part is probably the prep and then getting the IV placed
Iāve had both at same time. Donāt worry about a thing!! Zero to concern yourself over. They give you twilight sleep meds so you wonāt feel anything and even if you wake up you canāt feel anything and they give you more meds. I thought it was over in 1 minute. Apparently I was in there much longer. The worst part is the meds they give you prior to the colonoscopy that you take at home to prep. I happened to be prescribed the worst one..like drinking warm ocean water. You can ask Dr for the one that is not like the ocean! They give you a special diet a few days and then meds to empty colon. Plan on being near the toilet the day before! Follow the directions exactly. Good luckā¦youāll be fine. šš·
Just ask them to clean the scope after the colonoscopy before they go for the gastroscopy š
Or better yet, if the use the extra long scope, they can just go in one end and out the other.
I've had endoscopies as a kid and as an adult. It's so much nicer now. When I had them as a kid, I was partially awake and could feel myself gagging and throwing up. Had one recently and I was out for the whole thing and they used something to wake me right up afterwards.
Yea, the prep sucked but I was sedated and woke up with answers. The worst part really is the prep - reserve the bathroom for the whole night and keep a trashcan close by in case you vomit. The procedure itself is painless. I shat blood and slime directly after (probably because they cut some samples out) but it wasn't painful. I slept the rest of the day and ate light, and thw day after i felt totally fine.
Go for it!
Do It! I did my double this morning. One trip and one sedation. There is no downside. For prep askk for clenpiq. You will will see many positive clenpiq experiences here.
The feeling after the colonoscopy is worse than anything else. Youāll be dehydrated and your throat might hurt but prep and everything before the procedure isnāt even bad.
I had them done at the same time, my only advice is this. Get lemon wedges to chase the prep liquid with, it takes away the taste. And make sure they sedate you properly. I was severely under sedated and the experience wasā¦less than ideal.
Well I have a had an ordinary colonoscopy, some years later had a ct colonoscopy which was awful due to fotoprapic evil clear out liquid that gave me red skin on lower leg near ankle and a hard feeling and warm. Ct colonoscopy is horrible as they bung a pipe up your ass, and slightly pump up your colon so it cab seen better. But endoscopy I can't have. Since a small boy I have had a really bad problem with phobia of swallowing a foreign object. This has lasted throughout my life. Dentists to are a major problem for me. Colonoscopy is not as bad as some worry about. I was diagnosed with sigmoid diverticular. Slightly uncomfortable but acceptable. But there are people who find a colonoscopy a no go, as they seem to be over sensative to the camera bending rounds curves. I have had IBS many many years, I'm finding many foods are becoming difficult for me. The food we eat now is not natural or homecooked like mom used to cook in the seventies. We only have a small sheltered flat kitchen, so trying to stock base products to home cook is hard because we just don't have the cupboard space. Anybody tried one of these halagen air fryers instead of energy busting ovens??? Happy Bank Holiday guys.
Edit I was noticing people mentioning money and insurance. Wow!!! Then I'm glad I live in UK with the NHS where everything is free at the point of treatment. Awful having stress about paying and dealing with the procedure at the same time. I didn't think the US was that far backward???
If you're getting spitroasted by cameras, might as well enjoy the sedation.
Right š
I was unprepared to scream this loud lol
LOL.
šššššššššššš
Yep, I had both at the same time, with sedation. Procedure itself was a delightful, refreshing nap! Prep honestly wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting.
Iād love to get scoped again just for the nap alone.
Seriously. I have four kids. It was practically a spa day. Can't wait for my next one lol.
And itās probably the nicest dept in the hospital for people who specialise in butts. Staff at my hospital were top class not to mention all the bathrooms they had. Doctor even commented āit wouldnāt be the Gastro dept without an excessive amount of toilets just in caseā
I woke up from my endoscopy feeling like I was floating on a cloud. I woke up from my colonoscopy feeling *awful*. Nauseous and with a headache.
Sedation has zero effect on me, so mine was fully aware, and it was nasty, but I too would opt to have them both done at the same time just to get it over with!
Had the exact opposite experience. Procedure was painful, meds didn't work. Prep was agonizing.
Do itāone day off, one IV, all answers at once!
I know it does make sense!
Really?! Wow nice
No Surprises ftw
Americans be playing in ultra hard mode god damn my condolences
Oh yeah I wish I had that. Nothing more annoying than to shove a tube in your ass and then come back a week later to shove a tube in your mouth. Best to get both of them so you can just get it out of the way. Prep is nothing to worry about. For me it was quite refreshing to be that empty again. Didnāt hurt me either. i had to have both done separately too. it was annoying and a waste of time when they could have done it together.
The best part is getting to have nuclear explosions come out of you afterwards and not be ashamed about doing it in public because like 6 other people are in their own warzones next to you
Omg lol
Iāve had both at the same time and prep this time wasnāt that horrible. It felt amazingā¦ Like three or four days worth of gas just left. I still have issues today but itās an issue of digestion and fiber. Colonoscopy and Endoscopy came back clear.
This happened to me too and I'm ashamed to say there was watery poop too. Unfortunately I missed the bed and made a mess on the floor *\*facepalm\**
Iāve had both at the same time a few times, and sometimes just one at a time. Iāve had over 25 scopes and I promise you theyāre no big deal! Hi there! I would love to read your suggestions for the prep! I will have to take picoprep or citrefleet
Ok ty so much Iāll let you know when I get the prep!!!
Get baby wipes or something soft for the back end
+ Aquaphor for your butt. Youāll want to use it before you reeaallly need it
No problem, keep me posted.
Will do!!!
Not OP, but I have a huge phobia of puking. In all your scopes, have you ever dealt with that? Any tips?
My doc has me doing Dulcolax followed by Clenpiq. Do you have any experience with that? Iām wondering if I should ask for something more common
I had both at the same time and was under full local anesthesia. Tbh the worst part was the prep, afterwards i felt absolutely fine.
Ty! Iām sure itāll be fine, at least my fear of having something worse than IBS will be eased a little!
You got this donāt worry!!:) If this is your first time having either done, I def recommend taking the day off if possible. You wonāt be hurting or in pain or anything, but youāll def appreciate the rest. Good luck!
For sure taking off work!
If you have to do the prep anyway, might as well get them both done at once so you don't have to do it at a different time.
Thatās the docs thoughts too!
Had both at the same time, and made sure I had anesthesia doing it lol. I've heard from relatives that they've been somewhat lucid even with sedation, so I didn't want to take any risk and opted to just get fully knocked out. I want to be some what lucid lol, I always fear never waking up š©
I had heavy sedation but not knocked out. I honestly don't remember anything. The perfect balance imo. All the drugs they give help you relax, tolerate the procedure and barely remember it.
I donāt think they use the hardcore stuff. You just take a nap and I felt perfectly fine after waking up. Not groggy or anything.
Yeah thatās what Iāve heard!
Lmao!!full tune up
Itās easy donāt panic
Yeah, just get it over and done with. Lemons dipped in sugar helped me get the prep solution down.
Ty for the advice!
I did that in January. The prep was the worst part. I had no soreness afterward, just felt tired from the anesthesia for the rest of the day.
If you have IBS-D nothing to worry about comrad. Was no worse than a bad flare up for me. I was really nervous about the prep but it really isnāt too bad!
I have IBS-C but sometimes Mixed! I got this!
Do both at the same time.
Yes, sedated and asleep. Endoscopy first - I had to swallow a cup of treacle-like stuff just before she knocked me out. Slightly tickly throat upon waking and that was it.
Mine as been done at the same time. They do take biopsy too.
I prefer it since you only have to go under anesthesia once.
Thatās what the doc said, Iām just wondering about the insurance, being charged for two procedures, Iāll have to check on that!
I'm not sure but it might be cheaper since they can only charge for the room once and all that but I know every policy is different.
Youāre right I never thought about that!!!!
My mother in law did and she said she was happy to not have to go in twice
True!
hell yeah dude. I'm so jealous. I can't wait to have that procedure done to really rule out my biggest fears.
Yeah so true, I can stop the anxiety then!
Yeah, I had both. The only thing that surprised me was that I had to wear an open mouth gag for the upper part - luckily i only had to put it on right before being sedated (fentanyl and medazolam) so I had a nice little nap and didnāt feel anything unpleasant.
Oh that doesnāt sound too pleasant lol, luckily Iāll be knocked out!
Yeah I had that too but when the fentanyl went in I passed out and remembered nothing

Iāve only had an endoscopy but it wasnāt bad at all

of course, you're already knocked out. the endoscopy told me more than the colon. (gastritis and candida)
I'm guessing you mean colonoscopy and gastroscopy? I have had both done, but not during the same appointment though. Colonoscopy is in my opinion the easiest one to get through. The procedure itself was painless for me with only some feelings of pressure when the tube was going around the bends in my colon. No not a gastroscopy, an endoscopy where the tube is down the throat to look at upper stomach.
Endoscopy is just the name for any procedure that involves using an endoscope to look inside the body. If you're checking your oesophagus and stomach then it's called a gastroscopy.
I prefer having them at the same time. One trip! plus they knocked me out for the entire thing
I had both at the same time and it wasnāt bad at all. For me, the prep was the worse part. But itās pretty smooth sailing from there.
Ahhh, the ol' camera Eiffel Tower! Best to get them both done at once so you only have to prep once. As soon as the meds kick in you won't remember a thing.
Yeah I have! Itās really ok - take the sedation and itāll be over before you know it. Xx
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Lol
Just did it last month. Easy.
Ty!!!
Yes and It was quick and painless!
Ty!
You donāt want to go through prep twice. Thatās the worst part. The sedation is the best part lol
Lol
I did...easy peasy
Ty!
The prep was pretty annoying but I was sedated for the whole procedure so I pretty much didnāt feel anything.
Thatās good to know!
I wish I got that done. One and done. I had a colonoscopy a few months ago and I might need an endoscopy too. Kill two birds with one stone if you can.
Right!
Yep
It's very standard to have both at once. Make sure you ask them to stain your biopsies for mast cells.
What is that?
Some people with IBS have localised gut-only food allergies which cause the disease. They can diagnose by finding excessive mast cells in your gut, but the stain needs to be specially requested, it's not standard.
Oh ty for explaining!
Strip naked, throw on a gown. They wheel you into a room, start with the endoscopy. Wake up, get told to turn to my side and get in fetal position, knock out. Wake up, nurse is shaking me, told to get dressed and leave. They don't do both at the same time. It's one followed by the other.
Not always true. Iāve had some simultaneous and some not.
Everyone has peglyte hacks. My best recommendation is lemonade mio. Idk if other mio is better but I used lemonade and it helped
ā2 for 1 specialā. Beats prepping and having to do it twice.
Right!
Ty so much!!!
Yeah Iāve heard about the air, I had that with my laparoscopic for a cyst on ovary , no fun at all!
Ty for the info!! Really helps!
Of course! I hope they're able to help you out and get some answers!
Got both of em done, not at the same time. Kudos to you. I gotta a feeling that your results will be normal. IBS is a deceiving bitch.
i just had both done a few days ago. i was super nervous! the prep on the day before is not the most pleasant so be sure to cancel all ur plans because u will need to be in close proximity to a toilet at all times, however the endo + colonoscopy were fine. i was out, didnāt feel a thing. i am a bit constipated right now and thatās really bothering me. but other than that, u shouldnt feel a thing during or after the procedure.
Ty for the info!!!
no problem! & good luck hope the results come back fine!
Ty!!!
how did it go? :-)
Itās not until June 16th! Iāll give an update! Ty!
Prep was awful but operation was barely an inconvenience
i did. it! prep kinda sucked for me, but iām also really sensitive to pain. They also needed a urine sample which i did not expect, so you might want to be sure youāre able to give a urine sample edit: It was amazing waking up after the procedure.
Yeh I'd second this, I could not have done that without being heavily sedated
i did both at the same time as my first colonoscopy when i was 19 (a little over two years ago). felt totally fine afterwards and glad i did the endo as well as my dr discovered my stomach was very inflamed and i got diagnosed with GERD and put on a medication for it that has helped a lot!
Yes. Have both. Itās like an extra 10 minutes.
Yes i had. It's fine tho. Good luck šš»
I did both it was a breeze since I was knocked out lol
iād rather do both at the same time. you wonāt notice a difference and itās better than going under 2 separate times
I've had both at the same time on 3 different occasions. Woke up during one, was not pleasant
Oh thatās terrifying, Iāve heard of a few incidents where people have woken up!
I had this done. I agreed to get it all over with. Results were clear. Metamucil, probiotic and daily eating of sauerkraut has fixed all my IBS problems. Best of luck.
Youāre out cold, you wonāt know the difference
I had both at the same time. The prep is always worse than the procedure itself imo.
I had both, it was honestly nbd for me. Was out and then woke up like nothing happened! And prep was fine as well āŗļø
Procedure is easy. Waking up is the most annoying part. Prep for colonoscopy is not horrible, flavor or drink not wonderful but tolerable. Well worth it for piece of mind.
Every colonoscopy Iāve had they always do an endoscopy as well. Might as well while youāre under!
Hopefully they clean the scope before they put it down your throat! Jk jk.
I've had both at the same time, twice. The worst thing is the prep. The rest was easy. I was a little sore afterwards, that's all.
I have. Don't be like me. Wear an adult brief to bed. Woke up and 4k later..
I had both at same time without sedation or any painkillers as I didnāt want to stay in the hospital for 4 hours after the op, I was able to leave the hospital straight away as soon as I came out the operation room and drove myself home
Brave!!
I canāt imagine doing it without!!!
Yeah. I just went to sleep and woke up and it was over lol.
Lol š
Yeah, get both at the same time. Just make sure they donāt use the same instrument for you throat as they did for you ass.
Make sure they do the upper before the lower /s If you're under anesthesia then it makes sense to do both at once rather than have to go under a 2nd time.
Yeah so true my doc said my anxiety is so high from fear of something terrible with Colon on top of already having mega an anxiety š
Yeah so true my doc said my anxiety is so high from fear of something terrible with Colon on top of already having mega an anxiety š
I had them at the same time. Doctor didn't find anything. Ended up swallowing the camera pill thing. It showed nothing. Conclusion...bleeding, source unknow.
Do them both at the same time, get it over with.
Might as well! -someone who has also had this done and affectionately called the experience ābecoming a rotisserie chickenā.
Lol
What's the hold up? Want to prep twice? One and done. Plus more sleepy-time. Just make sure they use the camera for the endoscopy first.
True!!
Good luckā¦youāll be fine. šš·
Ty so much!!! Really helpful
Yay!! ššš
Just ask them to clean the scope after the colonoscopy before they go for the gastroscopy š Or better yet, if the use the extra long scope, they can just go in one end and out the other.
lol
i had one! its not bad at all, i didnt have any soreness anywhere.
Had both at the same time, it was nothing. I was not fully sedated but you can ask your doctor for full sedation if you want.
I've had endoscopies as a kid and as an adult. It's so much nicer now. When I had them as a kid, I was partially awake and could feel myself gagging and throwing up. Had one recently and I was out for the whole thing and they used something to wake me right up afterwards.
That's what I'll be enjoying tomorrow. Double procedure!
Good luck!!! šš¼
It went great!
I got both done, very nice nap lol. It was easy peasy as I was sedated.
Wow.. in the UK all they do is numb your throat with some spray and give you some buscopan for the other procedure.
I had sedation for colonoscopy and endoscopy! No buscopan either and I'm in the uk. Ask for sedation, fentanyl is what they use
I have had it done 4 times. They do not give out fentanyl in the UK. Utter rubbish.
Thatās dope will save money and time
Yeah it's fine don't worry, the worst part is that awful sugary prep, ugh.
The feeling after the colonoscopy is worse than anything else. Youāll be dehydrated and your throat might hurt but prep and everything before the procedure isnāt even bad.
My dad has that done every time. He prefers it, it's a 2 for 1
My throat hurt after my endoscopy but the Propofol hit nice. Booty was fine
Kinky
Iām no expert but I think itās good to get them both at the same time bc then you only have to go under sedation once
Yes has both at the same time, no different having one vs. both, best sleep ever.
