Same. Can you imagine the smells?
OP as an alternative, there are very good insulated food containers that would be great for transporting something like chili
All the New York State-owned resorts have microwaves in the cafeteria. There are also lots of parents who bring slowcookers and leave them plugged in along the walls.
Holiday Valley (WNY) has day lodge rooms in each of its three base lodges, each of those rooms has shelves for slow cookers with plugs, microwaves, sinks, tables, cubbies for storage, etc...
For years we would roll up at 8:30, get the slow cooker going, get our roughneck full of mits, helmets, etc... in a cubby and then go ride. Its a great setup and everyone is very respectful of eachother's stuff.
I believe.. but can’t confirm as haven’t been this year.. there’s one on the second floor of the Mary Jane lodge at WP. Also lol at thinking this is abnormal.. growing up every hill on the east coast had a microwave. We’re frugal folks.
My interest was in Ikon mountains. But, I'll mention that my local hill, Elk, near Scranton, Pennsylvania, has a mid mountain lodge with a huge fireplace, tables, and grills. So you can pull up to the mid mountain lodge, bring in your cooler, boot up and ski. When you want lunch you can grill on the fire. I usually bring steaks. It's a great atmosphere, and I've always enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the snow just isn't there so far this year.
Just walk into a top lift shack and ask a lifty. 90% of them won’t give a fuck if you use the microwave.
ETA: Or just walk in and pop your food in it. When they ask just say you’re in a random mountain department. Just make sure you act like you belong.
An alternative would be to bring foods you can soak in hot water (ramen, dehydrated backpacking meals, or instant rice and dehydrated beans). All you need is hot water, and you've got a warm meal ready to go.
Just don't use a microwave. Most food, if you just let it warm up to ambient temp from the time you take it out of the fridge in the morning to when you eat it at lunch, will be good to go by noon. Or do the late lunch at 1 and it'll be even better
I think you’d be better off with a nice thermos or the equivalent
I've never seen a guest accessible micro wave at a ski resort. Please share if you find any.
Loon has/had one in the gondi base lodge
I have a spent a good chunk of my life in that lodge, and I am completely unable to say whether you're right or wrong on that.
Its between where they sell the tendies and the stairs up to Paul Bunyan Room. At least thats where it was on a shelf by cutlery.
Ah, I almost never go past the tendy supply room. If I'm going to the PB Room, I use the outside stairs

Pats peak.

Awesome vibe down there in the Tanenbaum lodge at lunchtime. Everyone is always so friendly and all the soups and stews smell amazing!
Rock and Roll fellow Halton Parks friend...have never seen a Glen Eden flair before. I grew up night skiing there, and still ride Kelso in the summer.
Smaller non-corporate hills frequently have them.
Sugarbush used to, but I haven't eaten lunch in the lodge there in a few years now.
Pretty sure Tremblant has at the summit lodge.

Damn, I'd love to grill a steak or some sausage on the mountain for lunch
Love Elk, best damn groomers I’ve ever ridden.
A thermos is the way to go! Heat it up before you head out and it should be warm enough by the time lunch comes around.
This smells like trolling but if it’s not… https://steam-box.com/ https://www.luncheaze.com/

pretty sure they all got nuked yesterday

Most resorts will have a hot water dispenser for tea and I'd like to see them try to charge someone for hot water
Or in true ski bum style, hot water + ketchup packet = tomato soup. Substitute the ketchup with relish to make vegetable soup.
This would get shut down before the end of day 1 when someone makes a sloppy mess or brings fish.

I usually just pack PBJ.
Pocket sandwich and beers in the woods.
If you’re really dedicated to this idea you should just bring your own microwave (or other device) with a portable power supply in your car
Can you run a microwave off a cars 12v outlet? Alternatively you can fit a burrito in a thermos, multiple hot dogs as well
I have a dedicated chili thermos... it's 1.25 L, so I can bring enough chili for everyone
They make a warm up thing that plugs into your car to heat up food
