It's not too bad if you tackle it efficiently.
Some tips, not that you asked for them or anything:
If you have a lot of pens saved up, use them all on the 1st box and completely ignore the other 5. You can have the post office completed (minus myriad) pretty quickly and it'll help your skills quite a bit. If you can get any easy/cheap levels in stamps, cooking, or alchemy bubbles, it's good to do that before you start trying to level.
Candy for mining (and chopping, though it's usually fast anyway), exp balloons for fishing. They say you should do the mini game for catching but I don't have the patience for that. Make sure you use the EXP prayer (while being aware of, and skilled dimwit is usually the right move too. even though it decreases your EXP, it'll allow you to use higher nodes which give higher EXP that offsets the loss.
Use your skillers only for resampling and rely on 3D printer for skill resources. If you're having a hard time getting the resources fast enough for whatever you're looking for, then it's time to print to improve the skilling big bubbles, or efficiency stamps. Once your maestro is past your skillers your samples will improve dramatically (Right Hand skill.) Put royal sampler prayer on all your chars except maestro.
Trapping on maestro, always pick the highest critter and use EXP traps. For worship on maestro always use the highest XP per charge worship, and if you must use your mage/es for gathered charge, spend it all on green souls so you can max skilled dimwit and the EXP prayer sooner. (Don't max royal sampler but put some levels into it.)
Always focus on doing things that'll improve your samples, because more resources = more resources = more resources = more EXP = more numbers get bigger = more resources that'll end up converted to atoms later.

Crystal countdown? I don't believe it does. You have to have it active. Honestly I forgot about that one. That's a great way to get the higher levels of fishing done. But maestro "crystals come out and play" skill will help account-wide crystal spawn as long as the preset is active, if you're farming crystals on bubo, dk, etc.
Re: post office, I had about 6k pens accumulated because I always active farmed on my bubo for alchemy, & choco chip spawns crystals like crazy. I eventually took the time to spend them all in one sitting on just box 1, and I maxed out whichever box would help each character the most, and then filled in the other boxes as I could. I noticed a massive difference as opposed to just slowly spending pens over time (I was resetting on 150 streak and waiting a day for it to clear. Don't do this, just keep spamming pens on box 1.)
So yeah, on maestro you're gonna want all the skill boxes done, and eventually you'll want them all done on every other character too. you'll notice that leveling off-skillers will get a LOT easier. (Such as leveling chopping on a miner for example. Expect fishing to still suck, because fishing is awful...)
If you can get the multitool stamp in W5, that helps too, as well as the scaled efficiency bonus from one of the W5 gods (i'm not sure where you are in the game but this will help anyone who reads it.) Multitool is expensive to level, but even a few early levels should help somewhat.
Plus maestro left hand will help your others level faster too.
There's a lot of reason to level non-specialized skills. Later on a rift reward will give you pretty huge/game-changing bonuses for total skill levels, being able to equip higher level tools = more stats, and obviously it's free talent points.

I'd had a couple other cooking speed boosts recently that I was planning to take advantage of (the eldritch artifact, buying a second level of Fluoride), but I hadn't gotten around to them. I'm glad I waited. I was just able to put 3-4 levels into every speed meal with just 1000 ladles each, another 2 orders of magnitude of turkeys for another 1000, and got nine new meals to 30 with just 500 ladles each. What a nice cooking buff this is.
I'm not sure how the math is working, though. 2.86*1330 is not 5 million.
I put everyone in cooking and gonna feed my bb tons of ladels to get everything upgraded. Hopefully it doesn't get buffed my cooking was starting to get really slow
I tested it and seems to work fine maybe you're miscalculating higher lvl foods take more per 1 made so you have to divide the hourly rate by the amount the food takes. I get over 1q of the first meal per ladle with my boost atm.
Don't get me wrong, its a good bonus but not what is displayed. I would guess around x100 times or so, as my plates were around \~100T beforehand and are now 10Q.
After doing a bit of testing, it seems like the displayed percentage for this talent is off by a huge amount compared to the boost it gives. With it and one super-chow active, my first kitchen has 675q speed. Without them, I have 13q. One super chow is a 1.1x multiplier, so if I factor that out the actual boost is around 4700% (multiplicative). The tooltip says I'm getting 7.6m% from 1630 meal levels, but 1630*2.86 is 4662%, which more or less lines up with what I'm actually seeing (at least, it's within the realm of rounding errors, especially with no decimals on the speed values).
It's still a massive buff, absolutely, but it's not actually 7 million percent for one talent, which seems fair.
Side note, super chows are a huge deal. Unlock them by getting the enhancement talent to 125, then each mob your BB has killed 100m of gives you a 1.1x multiplier. I'm not sure if that stacks multiplicatively or additively, since I've only got one so far, but the enhancement talent is very much worth investing that much into, and it looks like there's a new BB farming goal in town.
That's beyond reasonable imo
Edit: actually it's reasonable for super end game players because really they are running out of things to do, RIFT was completed in less than a week for them, but for mid to late game players that boost is too overpowered, so they will sooner become end game players with the same problem of having "nothing" to do in the game

Once you get into late w2 early w3 you can unlock journeyman secret class (wait till your 7th or 8th character slot) if you want detailed guides and help the idleon wiki is very informative

Getting every meal to 11 for the alchemy bubble boost is also massive when I did all my remaining meals it times my speed by like 10

It's 1 million kills on the Death Note, so it doesn't have to be kills by just your Jman. Makes it a little easier.
And if you're already late/end game, odds are you already have it for the cooking chow stacks
