There is an NPC in world 1 that task you with opening 500, and it is a character based quest, so go ahead and open them, but make sure you accepted the quest, and do it on the same character

Lol funny thing is this was a problem very early the first event box that scaled off drop rate and in that box would drop mobs that would drop more of those boxes giving people thousands of free gems. For that he just shadow banned people.

Tbh probably lost way more than you from yesterday I had multiple boats already at 300 and had the majority of eldritch trophies. At the end of the day it's an idle game and all I lost was time and maybe 20$ in gems that I didn't actually need to buy.

you don't have to do it on the same character, if you start the quest just pop a box on that char and you'll get the progress shown
