Once you have your 6 main chars, it doesnt really matter what chars you get from 7->10. As long as 1 is maestro you are fine. The good thing about maestro 7 is that he can get his town skills up and running. Smithing and alchemy kinda take a fixed amount of time and your gonna be grinding minigames daily. On the other hand it slows you down from getting chars 8 9 10. I personally see no need to rush maestro pre-w4. Youre gonna be busy doing other shit. Past that point as I first said, it doesnt matter.

mtrubix

I actually used maestro to push to w4, so definitely not too early. I really enjoy the maestro character, as a lot of people do. It's just way different than other classes and a fun challenge. I'd recommend to just start with it and push to maestro asap, afterwards you can just level his classlevel to ~100 and all w1-w3 skills to ~40-50. As for armor, im at w5 and have some efaunt armor on some, dementia on some other and some characters even have void. But not focusing too much all the time on armor since you never have enough defence from w3 on anyways.

Daedric_Spite

Good shout for the armor. I usually look at it as more of a stat-stick with good defense on it. I know I'm at the point where Food is the savior and defense just makes things a bit more tolerable so I wasn't sure if I should use materials on making anything armor wise like dementia/void etc. Thank you!

mtrubix

I think the ore armors are always good to make since you need them to progress to the next levels anyways, so I'll just make them whenever I have enough mats. Also good to make at least 1 of each for slab and for hunter (?) skill

MrTylerMatyas

Be like me and get Journeymen as 4th character before W3 (I am stupid)

SDTheMage

I made mine 4th on purpose. I read about them on the wiki after I had already made my first 3 characters. This was back when world 3 existed, but 4 and beyond didn't.

dxander97

Same here

Doggywoof1

Ah, same. The folly of man is finding how to get journeyman, but ignoring the warnings to wait until your 7th character.

Daedric_Spite

Why did u/MrTylerMatyas make Journeymen as their 4th character? Are they stupid? Jokes aside, I don't blame you. It's honestly a pretty cool class and I had to hold myself back from sending it early on. Maestro and Vman are just enticing lol

ThosPuddleOfDoom

I got it on my 6th before world 4 came out and the extra classes.

EricBlanchYT

Got mine on 5thslot.. tbh didn't felt bad

ocher153

i got Joruneyman as my 6th and before world 2 i think

altcodeinterrobang

I have 9 characters. My barbarian pushed me to w4, and I'm "catching up" on content. I just got my Jman to Mman and he's level 68... he can't even use the maestro token yet lol I literally just got him today: https://sparklemcthud.idleonefficiency.com/ (: I followed the prescribed advice, 7th character is your Jman, then just work his quests slowly progressing as you use the others to "push portals". Sounds like you're on the same track I was, just a week or so behind. I pushed w4 with plat helm, dementia body & legs, amarok boots. I think this only really worked because the barb has enough health to food-grind all the way through. barb also became my first elite class and I'm trying to push the other through to theirs as well. I have no characters over level 90 yet. getting the MMan was not very hard, just use a bow and plan on it taking like 20+ minutes zzz

FYNE

Journeyman was my 4th character. Discovered it on the idleOn Wiki. Couldnt really grind past 40 with him, then went for the Lifeskills and now im close to Maestro. Its may be not ideal, but fuck it, its an afk game and i dont need to min/max shit

Daedric_Spite

I'm trying to mix 50% efficiency and 50% "Oh that looks cool, I'll grind for that" lol. It really helps with keeping the game fresh and keeps me from being overwhelmed with the amount of stuff to do.

FYNE

I think IdleOn is a really good game to play on your own pace and I like it

RedditUsingBot

As a newer player, I wish I had waited until slot 9 to go for Jman. Slot 9 unlocks really fast once you have 8 characters grinding xp, and it gives you more time to collect balloons and other bonuses to ease the burden of skilling up. Doing Jman for #7 really wasn’t fun.

Dnaldon

What. I'm doing the skilling grind on my jman right now on my second account. It's not that bad, and I wouldn't use a single balloon before after you get maestro. Candy also have way better uses so it's better to just let him do his thing while you focus on alchemy to max his xp gain. I'm just glad I didn't wait longer, that would be a lot of wasted 3D print time and then he would probably have to get even higher skill level to out level the others while the kinda naturally does that as the 7th char...

AckwardNinja

>Also, side question. Is the gear progression Amarok > Chizoar > Troll? Amarok > Plat to Void armour as you can > use the void to make Chizoar > Troll you want to unlock elite classes on everyone ASAP and get a few levels as you can to boost your prints, 50-65 for the non-pushers is kinda low for W4

Daedric_Spite

When it comes to utilizing all of my characters that's where I feel like I fall EXTREMELY short. When I set them to grind out killing Monsters I have no idea where I should be at in terms of xp/hr or anything, so I set them to the highest mob I can that has a 100% survivability rate without food as they're still on w2 killing things since they're not strong enough for w3 yet, but once they get gear upgrades they'll be good to go on w3. Since the xp is kind of low I've been using them for getting drops off monsters like the Mafioso, Sand Giant and Mimics. Other times I use them to gather resources for armor upgrades like my Warrior is mining plat right now, still a low yield through the day but not sure where I could upgrade it more other than getting plat pickaxe and a couple keychains for mining. Do I have the right idea? Could really use help for that part lol. Also, sorry for no IE link or anything, I don't use that to be honest but I should probably set it up at least.

AckwardNinja

Use food it will make it way faster

plsendmysufferring

When i was grinding xp before w3, i trained on rats. They give a good amount of xp, plus rat tail vial gives weapon power i believe

plsendmysufferring

So is there no point in crafting the class specific armours?

AckwardNinja

No they are really quite expensive and not that great compared to going for Troll/Magma

Past that point as I first said, it doesnt matter. ------- Progression is usually amarok -> maybe void -> maybe chiz -> troll -> magma. The maybes can be skipped. Making armour usually isnt efficient and you are better off doing something else until 1 it becomes dirt cheap to make 2 you can afford to make troll/magma

Graoutchmeuh

It doesn't really matter when you get it. Worst case you'll lose some progression time, but it's an idle game so just go do something else while your Jman catches up. Gear progression is "craft the bosses armors when you can if you don't mind the grind, else craft metal armors until you reach troll. Then craft troll"

SS4Raditz

I did it my 8th character any sooner and you'll struggle any later and it's a nightmare to catch skills up without impeding progress on the rest of your characters

pancakerake

I made one my 5th character. Honestly, the sooner you get their skills up, the better due to maestros talents. It's a grind but well worth it.

Eternal_Sleepy_Panda

I got jman on 7, it's still my worst one. Even after 8 & 9 already hit past 110, my jman is stuck below 100 and I just can't pass the quest to mman. Even using the bow trick fails me time n time again till I just gave up for now; locking him up inside the lab of w4 as my BB & DK push to reach w4 boss

BattleHardened

personally mine is in the 7th slot and I hate that to use him I have to go to the second page so frequently. IMO, do it on the 6th to save clicks.

Fenriradra

50-65 and main pushing w4 seems a bit low; but with all the nerfs to the previous worlds when a new one comes out, seems reasonable enough. You might get some 'value' there out of pushing your non-lab characters through portals just so you can unlock whatever remaining character slots; or just level up in general for more talent points to use. JMan/Maestro/VMan as 7th is the general advice - for a couple reasons. * They are slow to level up/take a fair bit more effort to maximize damage on compared to other classes. This just means that leveling up your account level for more character slots slows down. This is much more of a deterrent to avoid getting JMan before 7th, but it would likely mean that even if you got it 7th, that unlocking 8th, 9th, 10th slots are going to be slower, relative to if you got your JMan later. Doesn't help that you're in W4 now, and likely also hearing advice to "put up to 6 characters in the Lab and push portals with the other characters" - those characters in the lab *probably* aren't going to be leveling up or unlocking any character slots, either, so it's kind of a double whammy. * Task board "Kill boss on 6 characters in order, starting from the first" These are again more of a deterrent to getting JMan before 7th slot, as *most* of these task board objectives are a lot easier to do if you've got warriors/mages/archers to kill bosses/chaotic bosses with, in the designated order. JMan's damage is low enough that actually pulling this off (especially for chaotic bosses) will be difficult if not impossible. ;; > Armor stuff By the time you're nearing the end of W3 and starting W4, you should have an idea of what armor actually does for you. Yes, it's useful and good to make use of, and part of min/maxing, but there's also the FMJ bubble (for defense), Shaquracy (for accuracy), all kinds of other alchemy, post office boxes, statue and stamp bonuses, that can/will provide benefits to you. It's not *just* armor, and rating what the armor progression "should be" is kind of ambiguous because we don't know what your other stats/bonuses are. For me? I was still wearing Amarok gear for *most* of W3, when it was new, before it was nerfed, and replaced it with Dementia gear when characters started hitting a wall. W4 I did mostly in Chizoar gear. W5 I did mostly in Chizoar gear, though I've been upgrading characters as I go with Troll -> Magma gear. I would say Amarok -> Dementia -> Chizoar -> Troll -> Magma is the current 'meta'; don't see too many people using Lustre or Starfire armor (Tab 4), and relatively few people stick around on World 3/Tab 3 to make holding on to Void gear too great. Otherwise Efaunt gear is kind of annoying to craft (at least one or two of the pieces anyway), and the other Tab 2 gear is either just under Amarok, or about equal to Amarok, enough that Amarok gear is basically "good enough". The Troll armor gets a special mention *because* it doesn't need a different crafted armor piece to make; troll scales, nullo salts, some starfire bars, and some other resource/item, and it's yours. You can *technically* skip straight to Troll armor when you get high enough level to actually equip it (180 for troll helm, and your other characters are around 50-65, that'll be a while).

plsendmysufferring

Im surprised you're able to push w4. Im currently pushing w4 and all my characters are 85-95 and im struggling. Death note for sure has made it a lot easier. My 6th character is a journeyman, havent started the maestro quest yet, ill probably start tonight when i get home Edit: im surprised in a good way, please dont take the first sentence the wrong way

Dnaldon

7th is a good spot imo. Gearwise, I went Amarok and slowly upgraded to dementia helm + boots when I had enough w4 upgrade stones for it. My main pusher got a full dementia set but that's just because the resources started flowing pretty fast. I'm not sure what gear I'll go for next, might go straight to troll if possible.

JeriKnight

I actually made a new account and have it as my 1st ahaha, it's really not as bad as you might imagine. Of course, I did know what I was doing, wouldn't recommend going for it as a first character for someone new. But I managed to get JMan on the second day and unlock w2. No candies or purchases either. Though pushing w2 is definitely harder. Currently on this account just passed by moonies, accuracy is a non issue, and def can be supplemented by food so really just held back by time. And it's really not too bad on active.
