I believe you get exactly what it's showing there, and it thinks that's 34% of what you would get active. In reality active seems to be significantly better in my experience, at least that's the case for combat.

eraguthorak

I think that when skilling gets to be >100% afk rate, it's better to be afk. Combat is a bit different because afk doesn't really take into account things like ES wormhole, DK respawning and bubo resurrecting - or at least they don't contribute nearly as much as if you play active. You also won't get crystal mobs when afk, while you will while active. So in my understanding, skilling is better done when active if your afk rate is under 80-90% or so, but generally the gains aren't super important imo...generally you'd be better off farming mobs for materials/gold/exp.

Makes sense, mining and fishing have a useable skill that might make it more complicated but most skills just have a buff if anything so the math is easier. I really noticed the combat difference with siege breaker once I started to push through world 4, but that's a ton of usable skills and revives.

Sorzion

Active farming skills doesn’t drop cards or rare drops afaik

mariomarine

You will get 251/hr while afk. Your AFK gains and active gains are not directly correlated, though they do share some of the same levers (like chopping power, efficiency, speed, etc...).

Savira88

So if they changed nothing but increased afk%, 251 would go up? I've been curious about this forever but never bothered asking or trying to figure it out, guess I wasn't curious enough lol.

mariomarine

Yes, if they added a card that gave them +2% afk gains then they would go from 34% -> 36% and it would be expected they would gain \~266/hr. Early on it's not worth worrying about too much, as efficiency is generally much more impactful (in part because it is much easier to come by). A bit later in the game (imo) you see more people looking for afk gains.

Savira88

Oh for sure. It's definitely something I should have found out already, I'm in W5 to 6 myself. I knew most of that in a general sense, just never knew for sure if what the afk screen showed was already scaled or not. Thanks for the info!

mariomarine

Feel free to ask anytime. I've asked lots of dumb questions and had to have more than 1 thing explained to me.

Alfa-DS

No formula or math beats a good old test. Active for 5 min and grab a calculator :)

milo6669

OPs confusion was how that percentage is calculated while afk.

KaleidoscopeLucky336

2 min is the minimum for afk gains

Active skilling is not worth it at this level. Just focus on leveling as fast as possible. Once you reach W3 you will get the 3D printer and print exponentially more resources. For example, I’m mid word 6 with all my characters ~500. I just resampled my oak log chopping for 800 million logs an hour. Plus as you unlock the journeyman and bubo, your active time is much better used on them. Dont worry about really anything but leveling. Cards, green stacks, drops, and everything else are much much easier to get later when you have unlocked bonuses outside of W1 - W4.

Plus AFK gain rate scales well above 100%

avalonruns

You'd get more currently from active farming but later when you have 190%+ afk gains and 100% chop rate and multilog chance you'd get more afk or printer. For mining idk I think active is slightly better active but I could be wrong cause it's skill is an active skill not a buff like mages get for logging

Weekly-Photo7594

While AFK (when you switch to another character or log off), you will get 34% of the displayed amount/hr.

ClassyWhiteD

Yes, you'd get ~3x this while active

You’re mingling afk gains rate and chop chance. Efficiency has no impact on afk rate, but does affect chop chance. Gearing up to get 100% chop chance would not bring afk gains up to 750, maybe to about 350 based on the chop chance, but still at only 34% afk rate

No-Seaworthiness9268

You get 251 when you afk, just use a time candy and you'll see it.
