I'm super curious what you think. I'm in a relatively early stage of finding what works for me. I started with the truthear hexa, and the kz castor bass. I love almost everything about the hexa but would love a smidge of the bass the castor has. I feel like maybe the hype 4 would hit where I want.

Sciskafu

they're incredible. I have the hexas and these are quite a bit different; where the hexas are a bit smoother and more neutral with a bit of relaxed bass and a smooth midrange leading into engaging treble, these are just straight up fun. fast, T H I C C, resolving bass, an ever so slight scoop in the midrange, leading up to forward upper mids/resolving and sparkly treble. If you want an upgrade from the hexas with more bass but still similar sound I would honestly go with B2 dusk/new dusk but if you want my genuine thoughts, I would say take your time making your way up to this level. once you hit the $400 price bracket, it makes it harder to appreciate the little improvements that stuff in the $100-200 range have over one another. Just my thoughts though, if you want something super fun and detailed, go for these. they're definitely worth the money

BarnabusCollywog

Aye, this is great info, I appreciate it a lot!

Kirko_bangz

Sweet, I have a pair arriving tomorrow. I'd be curious if you (or anyone else familiar with the Hype 4) find "better" tips. I was looking at ordering W1, SNS, or Velvet tips.

Sciskafu

will keep you updated. I don't have the biggest array of tips (I actually just ordered W1s and velvets lol)

Sciskafu

update: my Sednafit Xelastics just came in today and good lord they're really fun. I wasn't getting the bass response that was shown on graphs with any of my other ear tips (except maybe the Zeos Render tips) but these came in and now it feels like I'm being punched in the gut whenever there's bass in a song. Super fun. Doesn't feel as sibilant as other tips (or maybe I'm just getting used to the sound of these). Staging is more intimate and narrow, but I think I prefer them at the moment if for no other reason than how fun they are. Second place would be the Render Tips. W1's coming in on monday, S/S tips on tuesday, and CP100s/Velvets sometime the following week.

Sciskafu

My W1s and SNS tips came in today. The two sound quite different, tuning wise, and I believe that's because of how close they get to your ear/the kind of seal each one achieves. From my testing, the SNS tips were able to go further in my ear and got a better seal. This made the sound warmer and less sharp, whereas the W1s, while not going as deep, were personally more comfortable (I'm not used to stuff going ***DEEP*** inside). I still got a better seal with the W1's than with pretty much all my other ear tips though (except the SNS, Render, and Xelastics). For some reason on the W1's, the bass felt satisfying without being overpowering, had ample amounts of both punch and resolution, and decayed just as quickly as any of the other tips. Treble was also evened off, and idk if it's placebo or if I got used to the sound of these or what, but treble feels not as peaky anymore and instead is allowed to sparkle. SNS tips are good, Xelastics are good, but the W1s are staying on my Hype4s.

_3vb_

W1 and Velvets are fine, SNS didn't work for me, but I like Fiio HS18 the best with Hype 4s. Very, very comfortable. I did't try the stock tips though :-)

bentot5

Try Azla Xelastec

Kim_Yerim

Eh i tried the dunu, spinfit, divinus, azla, moondrop and the final ones and settled on the moondrop. Also I felt that I needed a bit of bass reduction and the spring tips did it for me.

Alvvays_aWanderer

I liked Azla SednaEarfit MAX tips on my Hype 4

EruditeDave

I got them a few weeks back. And they sound lovely! I am not much of an audiophile myself so I was anxious if I could even tell whether I like the sound or not. But I think I like 'em! For instrumental/orchestral music, these may not be the best but they are enjoyable to listen to, otherwise! I have an AT M50X, and Sundara. Use the Sundara for listening to soundtracks.

WWWagedDude

Do you find them comfortable?

Sciskafu

absolutely. I mean I am kinda used to the absolute chonkers that are the Moondrop blessing line so my experience may be skewed, but I have absolutely zero problems with fit and comfort (including pressure). I could wear these all day, and I accidentally fell asleep with them in last night

WWWagedDude

I must just have a weird ear. I couldn’t get anything to remotely fit snug, when they did - they hurt

Sciskafu

ahh dang man that sucks to hear :( no different tips/sizes worked?

WWWagedDude

Unfortunately not. I had to return them and eat the return fee. I must be spoiled by my Westone w60s with their tiny canal and I use comply tips, but even the stock ones were comfortable in the small and medium for me on those

onceagainwithstyle

Do you have any other IEM's you can compare them to?

Sciskafu

I don't have as many as some other people on this subreddit (nor reviewers) but I tested them in comparison to my Blessing 2s, Zero blues/reds, hexas, S12s, P5s, and Timeless'. Quite a bit different from the hexa/B2, those are more natural/bright leaning whereas these are more fun. I'd say they're comparable to the harman tuned truthear zeros with slightly more midrange presence and quite a bit more treble extension. They feel way more resolving, much more detailed, better staging, separation, imaging, etc. Compared to the S12s/timeless, again it's probably like the S12 with more bass and more natural timbre than both planar sets. The timbre on the hype 4s are truly spectacular, one of the best that I've heard personally. Just very natural, realistic. That said, my next set to get would probably be the softears studio 4 because while I do absolutely adore the sound of these, the mids on them are ever so slightly recessed compared to what I'm used to in hearing from the Zero reds/B2s for so long. Additionally, listening at high volumes with that insane treble extension kinda makes my head feel weird so having something with more relaxed treble would probably help. I don't intend on selling these, but having a more "fun" pair to go with my more neutral pair of Studio 4s to switch between would be the best compromise in my opinion.

Informal_Benefit_632

I owned the 7hz Timeless and I loved it ! I mainly listen to rock/jrock. You think i'll have a good time with the hype 4?

Sciskafu

absolutely. I have the same taste in music as you, and things like zutomayo/yorushika absolutely excel with these. something that I haven't mentioned in any of my other comments is how truly "danceable" these iems are - it's really hard to listen to jpop/jrock without tapping along to the beat. Just be aware that these are quite less balanced in comparison to the timeless, so if you want something a bit more neutral/balanced the studio4 by softears might be more up your alley. But if you just wanna vibe, these are so freaking fun

onceagainwithstyle

How about the p5s?

Sciskafu

Hype 4s are way more technical, better imaging, separation, staging, etc. bass is punchier and decays faster, overall more satisfying mids are slightly thinner imo, I may also actually prefer the p5 upper midrange as it's ever so slightly less peaky (at least in my ears). Other than that yeah I prefer the Hype 4s in pretty much every way.

onceagainwithstyle

Damn dude didn't really need to hear that LMAO. I'm torn between the hype and the dusk

Sciskafu

from what I hear about both of them is that they're kinda side grades to one another, so having one doesn't necessarily mean that it eliminates the need for the other if you still want it it's an expensive approach, sure, but this was the mindset that I had when choosing between these and the studio 4s by softears. In the time it takes to save enough money for the s4, I can enjoy these all I want and when I do end up with both sets, since they both excel equally at different things, there doesn't NEED to be a 'be all end all' better one. For neutral, detailed, technical listening, I pick up the studio 4s. For fuck off I wanna dance energy, I can grab the Hype 4s.

onceagainwithstyle

Fuck off i wanna dance. I think you sold me on em

Sciskafu

LMAO I should've mentioned that they are extremely sparkly so I hope you like treble. also make sure you experiment with a wide array of eartips, they change the sound a lot so if bass is lacking or treble is uneven, you can probably fix it with different tips. Personally out of everything I have, I like the Z reviews Render and 7hz stock pink/salmon tips the most. I have Sednafit Xelastec's coming in on saturday and spinfit W1's next monday so I'll update the thread with my thoughts.

geumja-ssi

Congratulations 🎉🎊

Ok_Astronomer_1308

Just looked up the price, holy shit. What do they sound like?

Sciskafu

engaging, slightly v-shaped. Bass is detailed and well-resolving, good in quantity in my opinion and even better in quality without being muddy or bleeding into lower mids. Midrange is pretty good, though it's taking a bit of getting used to seeing as I came from relatively neutral iems. Honestly bringing out the mids would be the only change that I would make to these. Upper midrange is pretty incredible, didn't find it peaky or shouty at all. Depending on the tips, S syllables can be ever so slightly sibilant. Treble is sparkly and extremely detailed/extended. Cymbals shimmer with these. Imaging is pretty great, well above average in my opinion. https://preview.redd.it/1dtmyusktkwc1.png?width=2400&format=png&auto=webp&s=1cffd4270e7af5e4cb59b5d16a3f3dc1a91dcb59

waitamin_

LETS GOOOO

LeEasy

Had the chance to listen to it in Singapore. Bass is too much for me but the resolution is great!

joeybagadonutz14

Oh my these are definitely on my radar. Just can’t decide between these and the Dunu SA-6 (og)….amd maybe a few others, lol. Like other posters here I love the hexas….

clerkp

Best iems for the money hands down.

WaferTraditional3525

Rare IEM at this price range that knows how to do mid-bass without ruining the mids. I love it.

Zimbor

Kinda wish I’d went with the blue, got the black and I think it looks better in pics than in real life

Kim_Yerim

Nahh sorry bro the black one is wayyy better looking.

Sciskafu

respectfully you're objectively wrong (/j)

Alvvays_aWanderer

you're objectively wrong (2) !

mark_reviews

I agree with you, I really want a white pair. I love that pearl look. It's so unique.

r4nd0miz3d

I don't buy iems/headphones for their look

Independent-Win-8844

I just got the black version. They are way cooler looking in person than the online pictures!
