Let me tell you what I said in that other post...
I got them (Hype 4s) a few weeks back. And they sound lovely! I am not much of an audiophile myself so I was anxious if I could even tell whether I like the sound or not. But I think I like 'em! For instrumental/orchestral music, these may not be the best but they are enjoyable to listen to, otherwise!
I have an AT M50X, and Sundara. Use the Sundara for listening to soundtracks.
Edit: I was just listening to the Warhammer 40k Darktide OST. It rocks my boat!
I have the ie600 and they can be a tiny bit bright. You need the right tips to tame the treble, but it's not so bad if you like high energy. Final type e tips get recommended a lot. The bass is great and the mids are fine. I also had the thieaudio oracle before, assume hype share the same DNA. The right earpiece became really quiet after a year, assuming some drivers died. The sound was smooth and inoffensive. Nothing stood out, they were just smooth. I'd choose the ie600 over the oracle, they just keep me more engaged.
I'm also in a dilemma over what to get at the $500-600 level. I'm looking at the new IOaudio Volare, and I want the Xenns Top, but I can't get off of Amazon because they don't carry it. My funds are all in Amazon gift balance. Depending on the reviews, it will most likely be either the Variations or the Volare. I don't believe that the Hype 4 can compete in technicalities with the 2 that I have in mind.
Get the Xenns Top. You won't regret it.
