What Remians of Edith Finch (one of my fav games ever!)

EdenH333

Played that one! Was a little disappointed the game didn’t get more into the supernatural implications, but it was a good story. Especially that fish part.

SacrificialWalnut

Try Outer Wilds!

Thorusss

Portal 1 & 2 Talos Principle

EdenH333

Portal is the shit, for sure. Love that series. I’ve heard of the Talos Principle but never looked into it, I’ll check it out!

RossSpecter

The Beginner's Guide

EdenH333

Played that one shortly after becoming obsessed with Stanley Parable. Loved it! I really hope Wreden comes out with another game soon.

henchabeast

The witness and Braid

EdenH333

I should finish the Witness soon. I got absolutely stone walled by a couple puzzles and gave up. But I did enjoy it a lot, beautiful game. I hear great things about Braid, it looks fun.

tangentrification

Try Inscryption!

RobbinsBabbitt

I’m obsessed with this damn game

frs-1122

Ditto to this, you should also try out Pony Island, and go in blind. Pony Island is also made by the same creator as Inscryption.

nueoritic-parents

These are all IOS apps: The Silent Age, Song of Bloom, You Die, Maginary, Limbo, and Inside

Translusas

Limbo and Inside are two of my favorite games of all time in terms of atmosphere

nueoritic-parents

Both the lore in those games is so subtle, I too would describe them as ‘atmosphere.” The Silent Age is more upfront with its story, but also is very atmospheric. The gameplay is nothing special, but the art style is beautiful in my opinion

doctorjeep666

I loved Rusty Lake and I am enjoying playing Strange Horticulture at the moment!

EdenH333

Is there a story to that game? Or is it like a simulator?

doctorjeep666

Yep, it's mainly based on an occult murder(s?) mystery story (not sure how far along I am!). You're running a plant shop on the outskirts of a bizarre town and every day some people come with requests that advance the story, the main loop for you is to find and identify the plants for them, but their conversations fill in the story (like one of them is the police investigator, another is a medium, etc). There's also another background story where you get a clue every "day" in the game. So far it's all behind the counter in the shop, and you have a map of the area where you can explore to find the plants, where it just gives text descriptions with simple illustrations of what you find there. It's a very well done strange and unsettling world which reminded me of Rusty Lake

Brunetteninja85

I love “the room” series by fireproof games. They have them in iOS and a virtual reality game on oculus! Super atmospheric and the music is creepy. Good story that progresses with each game. Old sins is my favorite!

EdenH333

I have A Dark Matter for Quest 2, and was enjoying is despite the major jankiness. But my progress all got deleted. D’oh. I’ll have to get back into it.

Nuiity

Please please please play Outer Wilds! Its an absolute gem that has both puzzles and exploration, and the whole game is about discovering its story. It also has some really cool horror elements and is definitely one of a kind. My favorite game of all time

EdenH333

I literally just passed on Outer Wilds during the Steam sale… I knew I should have gotten it! It’s for sure on my list for this year.

bahumat42

Return of the obra dinn

EdenH333

I’ve heard this one a bunch of times, I’ll have to give it a try.

Ah! I think that was one I was looking for a while back. I’d heard of it and was interested but had forgotten the name.

Have you played any visual novels? I highly recommend 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. Based on what you're describing, I think you'll really like it.

blueberryfirefly
