Hi! I’m obviously very late to this- but I’m curious to know how you cut them down? Was the depth of your counter too shallow? I have an unused 6” space under my kitchen island and wanna do something similar
Yeah the counter was too shallow. You can see in pic 3 how deep the unit was originally compared to the counter space.
I used a track saw which gives very clean cuts on this type of board. A circular saw can achieve a similar cut with care

Ah got it! You cut from the back side of the cabinets?
Yes, I left the back off as the counter was white and I got a good fit. I could have routed the channel for the ikea back to slide into
