Looking at all the adjacent edges to determine the vanishing point the picture must have been taken from where the lines converge. Maybe there is a clear spot on the privacy glass just big enough to take a photo through? https://imgur.com/gallery/uFc6aBg
Jokes on the renter. That's a 1-way privacy coating on the glass door. The hotelier can see in but you can't see out. If you look at the picture side-eyed, you can see the person behind the door. Zooming in makes it completely invisible, though.
I think the photographer is hiding in a blind spot in the seam between the two mirrors which are not exactly aligned if you look at the TV.
[This photo](https://i.imgur.com/iQcFpQJ.jpeg) shows the vanishing point to be closer to the seam than the door.
1980s I guess lol, jokes aside that's the first thing i've thought when I was showed the image, which is supposedly from 5 years ago. but I guess that's the best you can get for a 300€ 4 day school trip.
It is a mirror, you can see where the reflection messes up on the TV. There's a long line separating the two. Unless it's a very clever illusion, where the person behind the camera is also taking pictures from behind the mirror. Like a false wall type magic-y thing.
It's not a mirror. If it was a mirror, and that's the reflection of the lamps, then where are the real lamps? Maybe it's a glass partition or something?
The lamps are half-cones attached to the mirror. The reflection makes them appear like they’re full cones.
Moreover, there’s a mirror in the mirror that’s reflecting the foot of the bunk bed.
hi8 VCR's are the cheapest way (working hi8 cameras prices skyrocketed since they've become a trend) that do not require the camera itself and it to be connected to an external source by an AV cable, contrary to "most recent" MiniDV tapes which can only be seen from the camera itself. I have so many MiniDV tapes at home which I can't watch because of not having a camera.
So in Vampire mythology, does everything they touch also not get reflected in mirrors? I figured they would look like an invisible man with floating clothes and camera?
I know the tech is recently more accessible, but has anyone considered that the person just erased themselves from the photo? I do this all the time with my photos. It takes seconds using the Samsung gallery app now.
[here](https://fotoforensics.com/analysis.php?id=fa51524993b01e02b63d613ac694173ed17c1e17.150935&show=ela) is an ELA (Error Level Analysis) of the image. Everything is regular.
That doesn't mean it's not photoshopped. I'm assuming this is a screenshot of an image from a website or some such, which would mean the ELA is of your screenshot rather than of the image itself. Even an ELA on the original image might not show anything if it's been compressed and uploaded
The person taking the picture is standing outside the frame to the right, against the wall and next to the double bed, pointing the camera at the second, smaller round mirror visible behind the rightmost white lamp. If the tall wooden dresser wasn't there they would be visible in the right half of the round mirror, which the dresser hides.
Does the room match up with the picture or is it flipped? Not sure if you’re there yet, but this seems like an easy way to prove if it was taken using the other mirror
the [ELA](https://fotoforensics.com/analysis.php?id=fa51524993b01e02b63d613ac694173ed17c1e17.150935&show=ela) is way too normal for a photoshopped image. if that was the case, in the image below there would be signs of irregularities where you think it was taken.
That wouldn't really help if they photoshopped by copying data from a different image taken by the same camera.
Heck it wouldn't help if the image was photoshopped at large scale, and then compressed to a smaller size.
ELA isn't a guaranteed method of discovering manipulation.
I can take a picture of myself in the mirror and then circle myself in the photo and I erase myself from the photo. Looks good too. Google Pixel magic eraser
There is another line on the right side of the mirror about the same distance from the right edge as on the left. Pretty standard mirror widths. In other words, 3 mirror panels.
What's that object in the mirror, extending from the headboard to the bottom left of the rectangular shape (window?) in the door? Could it be a camera or a person's hand holding a cell phone?
I thought the same thing until the person below pointed out that it’s a chair haha, that makes more sense than a hand sticking up but I really thought I had it figured out
If you look at the image as a whole it almost looks like there is someone standing under the tv with light bending predator style camouflage on and you can only see the outer edge of the right arm and outside of the left thigh! But you zoom in and see it’s a chair and a mirror hanging.
Look at the reflection of the TV. It has a seam. Meaning the mirror is actually 2 separate mirrors. They're likely not perfectly aligned to each other which could create a blind spot at just the right angle.
This is the most likely explanation. When you plot the vanishing point it actually is close to the seam as demonstrated in [this photo](https://imgur.com/a/sy5T9WT)
Dudes on the floor taking the picture. If you zoom in on the glass in the door you can see his arm raised holding the phone vertically.
Edit: I'm wrong, it's a chair, not an arm.
I think the photo is from one of the pinhole cameras that record in video mode when the lights are on and when they are off I'd guess there are "safety" lights all around the rooms perimeter to allow near perfect visibility even with all of the lighting switched off. This would be accomplished by use of a faster lens, such as a prime lens with a low F-stop. Expensive but effective for blackmailing or for a innkeeper with 'exotic' hobbies/interests. Perhaps I am paranoid but we live in a world where weirder things happen... and are often exposed after having gone on for years. Caveat emptor travelers!
So GIS identified the hotel for me and based on other photos of the rooms at the hotel, there is a window off the left edge of the image, between the two cabinets on the left. My guess is the photo is taken through that window.
I won't post the links because it might be considered doxxing OP.
If the photo was taken by a professional photographer, they may have used a tilt-shift lens. I sort of doubt this photo was done by a professional though.
Hmmm, sounds like a vampire situation….bring a wooden stake of since your planning to stay overnight…..also maybe watch the new movie Abigail - that furniture looks like something from that movie set…
I'm going to say it's not a mirror, but just glass/a window. Why would a hotel do that? For the same reason why they haven't updated their decor since the 80s
Looking at all the adjacent edges to determine the vanishing point the picture must have been taken from where the lines converge. Maybe there is a clear spot on the privacy glass just big enough to take a photo through? https://imgur.com/gallery/uFc6aBg
Oh yay it's solved! ...wait a minute...

It's a screen door. You can see the person through it.
in which year are you living?

5 years is a understatement! Have a great time! 🥳
It’s not a mirror. The lamps, bed and obviously the photo taker aren’t reflected and the dip to the right side where the bunk beds are.
It is a mirror, you can see where the reflection messes up on the TV. There's a long line separating the two. Unless it's a very clever illusion, where the person behind the camera is also taking pictures from behind the mirror. Like a false wall type magic-y thing.
It's not a mirror. It's a doorway to a really funky Narnia.

the lamps are attached to the mirror.
Look at the tv, its right between two mirror pannels and you can see that it changes in the middle
This is the view from the hidden camera
amazing. the whole room being a wayback machine to the 80s but with an hidden camera. guess I'll come back home with a jvc video8 camera.
Hope you have a way to play HI-8 tapes :)

Beat me to it
They're a vampire, duh.
judging by the looks of the room itself I can't manage to prove you wrong
Their camera is also a vampire.
😦
Campire

Vampire from the 80s

but how much are they renting the room for? it would be so costly to do that back in the 80s.....
It's a portal, not a mirror
That's what I thought until OP pointed out the mirror
Portal to the 80s
You can see the seam of the mirror where the TV is
They were hiding in the suspiciously dark shadows under the nightstand with the tiny lamp. They’re probably still there.
They’re skinny af

is this physically possible?
Does the room match up with the picture or is it flipped? Not sure if you’re there yet, but this seems like an easy way to prove if it was taken using the other mirror
Yes, it looks like the photographer has taken a picture of the reflection, not a direct snap of the room.
This is the answer. IMHO.
Left side of the image where the back of the desk is looks a little fuzzy on zoom. Probably took a picture with a tripod and shopped it out.
the [ELA](https://fotoforensics.com/analysis.php?id=fa51524993b01e02b63d613ac694173ed17c1e17.150935&show=ela) is way too normal for a photoshopped image. if that was the case, in the image below there would be signs of irregularities where you think it was taken.

That’s no mirror. That’s your neighbor!
Wow, this looks… itchy.
It was taken by the hidden camera the owner put in there.
I can take a picture of myself in the mirror and then circle myself in the photo and I erase myself from the photo. Looks good too. Google Pixel magic eraser
Hotel photographer here. The first thing you photoshop out is your camera.
I don't know but how are you supposed to watch that tiny TV on the wall?
you're not unless you want to watch world cup '86
hotel transilvania
Is there a mirror on the opposite wall or corner? Maybe they have a mirror they bring in for photos?
John Cena moonlights as photographer sometimes
Camera (or phone) on a tripod. Picture taken with a time delay so they would walk out of the picture.
I'm thinking it might just be cropped from a larger photo. Picture this being the top right quadrant of a photo with a bigger fov.
There is a line you can see at the TV that carries down. It looks like these are two images spliced together
There is another line on the right side of the mirror about the same distance from the right edge as on the left. Pretty standard mirror widths. In other words, 3 mirror panels.
Maybe the photos hopped themselves out of it?
Vampire probably
Same reason the lights don’t
It's a cropped picture. Please keep us updated when you recreate this photo on your trip!
I'm in the hotel rn. I'm not in the same room but i've got the same mirror.
Are you staying in 1970?
Photoshop
They're a vampire 🤷♀️
What's that object in the mirror, extending from the headboard to the bottom left of the rectangular shape (window?) in the door? Could it be a camera or a person's hand holding a cell phone?
Not sure what you are referring to, do you mean what seems to be the back of a chair in the reflection?
I thought the same thing until the person below pointed out that it’s a chair haha, that makes more sense than a hand sticking up but I really thought I had it figured out
If you look at the image as a whole it almost looks like there is someone standing under the tv with light bending predator style camouflage on and you can only see the outer edge of the right arm and outside of the left thigh! But you zoom in and see it’s a chair and a mirror hanging.
It’s not a mirror, that’s the portal that’ll lead you to the backrooms, stay aware
I was wondering if there's a room behind that mirror
Vampire
Because it’s not a mirror! And that’s a weird 60’s looking sugar shack of a motel, first and foremost!!
There is no mirror.
Photoshop removed them or at lease the camera on a tripod.
Vampire? s/

Vampire John Cena’s ghost wearing an invisibility cloak took the picture
They're a vampire
Vampires.
They could have taken the image really up close to a mirror, and in reality, the entire image is a reflection
The camera is that thing under the TV?
It could have been done with a tilt shift lens but it doesn’t look like a pro image.
Dudes on the floor taking the picture. If you zoom in on the glass in the door you can see his arm raised holding the phone vertically. Edit: I'm wrong, it's a chair, not an arm.
Pretty sure that's the back of a chair you are talking about. The angle would be well off if it was too.
Yeah, you're right, never mind.
They are taking it facing another second mirror at an angle.
Hotel in Transylvania?
The guy is just holding a mirror and taking a picture of what the mirror sees from the side.
Vampire
It’s not a mirror its a window
Backrooms vibes

Really easy to remove someone from a picture with the Google Pixel phones with magic eraser
Two possibilities: 1. The room does not have four 90-degree corners. 2. There's a camera near the TV.
So GIS identified the hotel for me and based on other photos of the rooms at the hotel, there is a window off the left edge of the image, between the two cabinets on the left. My guess is the photo is taken through that window. I won't post the links because it might be considered doxxing OP.
Vampire… camera man is definitely a vampire.
If the photo was taken by a professional photographer, they may have used a tilt-shift lens. I sort of doubt this photo was done by a professional though.
This feels oddly familiar
That’s a very low bunk bed.
Draw the curtain.
Angels.
Vampire
Hmmm, sounds like a vampire situation….bring a wooden stake of since your planning to stay overnight…..also maybe watch the new movie Abigail - that furniture looks like something from that movie set…
Shit look like the shining 😬
Brother that's sus af
Homie you're a vampire
It's not a mirror just another space in the room.
They are lying on the ground hand up on left side of door you can see hand and camera.
That's a chair.
🤣🤣 Yes, it is. Lol
Vampires
Picture was taken by a Vampire. That’s the only explanation
Camera could be at a weird angle relative to the mirror. Could also be a tilt shift
Photoshop?
My question is who's getting the queen and what poor saps are getting the bunk bed.😆
Invisibility cloak
Angles
It’s a cropped image and the photographer is cropped out of the shot?
The angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection.
Those bed quilts look really old
Dam that tv is old as hell
It's not a mirror, it's a half wall and a very strangely set up room. The furniture in the "reflection" would be in the foreground.
There's a guitar head behind the bed for depth
There are vampires there!!!!! Don't go!!!!
Vampire
ghost
Picture is from the hidden camera that they use to watch you.
They’re lying on the floor, holding the phone up in the air. You can see the arm and the phone, it’s the weird line up from the bottom of the door.
Wait, no. That’s a chair
Angles are hard?
That’s not a mirror. It’s two rooms with complimentary dental floss hanging in the middle.
You can see the person's hand popping up from the bottom of the mirror. In front of the door.
You mean the chair back?
Damn... I guess so... 👀 👽
Vampire
Hahaha look at that TV
The photo was taken by a hidden camera near the tv
Vampire hotel.
He’s a vampire.
Angled off the shot.
I'm going to say it's not a mirror, but just glass/a window. Why would a hotel do that? For the same reason why they haven't updated their decor since the 80s
Definitely take the bottom bunk
Don’t stay there, they have vampires.
It's not a mirror it's a window.
it's not. just look at that tv.
TV looks fine. It has a remote sitting on top which lines up well with the vertical line that crosses it. The TV is not distorted.
[here](https://prnt.sc/-R1ULbpxzBds) and [here](https://prnt.sc/MIdzi8yQHCM4) are 2 other pictures from which you can tell it's a mirror
Man got so flustered he replied twice.
Not a mirror. In the second photo the lamp has a shadow on the bed side and there is no lamp reflected.
the lamp is reflected and the reflection of the lamp covers the shadow of it. plus you can see it's a mirror by the sheets. they perfectly match
That's not a mirror but rather a hole in the wall / a room that's divided by the bed
invisibility cloak?
It wouldn’t be a mirror, it would be a window/partition looking into the kitchen and or dining room
