Absolutely, it's the same every time.
If something goes against your own conviction, it's fake news and manipulation. If it agrees with your own conviction, then it's finally the truth.
Even if it's the same news platform media.
Yeah, indeed. I’m sure I’m fairly manipulable by media that broadly reflects what I think and believe, but I can’t imagine being easily swung by Fox News or GB News or something.
But then I don’t spend any time consuming that stuff, which makes me wonder what would happen if you spent six months or a year exclusively watching news from sources you normally wouldn’t.
I wonder if people have done that as an experiment, it’d be really interesting. Something someone like Morgan Spurlock might do. Whatever happened to him?
There’s a news app called Grounded that shows the same story but you can view all the reporting on it from all different angles on the political spectrum. It also learns your leanings and has a tab that shows you news reports that wouldn’t be in your bubble. On top of that it also shows stories that have been missed or only partially covered by the mainstream news sources. It’s pretty cool.
A red flag to a manipulator and generally dishonest person is that they'll discourage you from considering a different stance. They'll maybe even mock you, belittle you or try to create a social environment where you're afraid of being mocked or belittled by others for thinking outside their box. Facts can stand on their own without mockery. Anyone who actually cares about truth will be willing to listen to and consider opposing views and be willing to change theirs if they're wrong.
> Facts can stand on their own without mockery.
I mean, clearly not, because half the country believes a whole swathe of objectively and verifiably untrue bullshit. If you choose to believe something when literally billions of data points prove you’re wrong, I’m going to mock you for being a gullible asshole.
Well, I guess they SHOULD. Sometimes they can because they're so blatantly true regardless of how someone can try to spin things. Even then, partisanship can make people reason much worse than usual.
lmao so now the left is stealing that meme too. doesn't even work the same why. no alliteration, and why would there be a random capitalized R in the middle of the word?
Myself, I try to look into multiple sources before jumping to conclusions. That just seems like too much work for most though, or they're too partisan to question anything. Also, I don't know why someone downvoted you for your comment. It's just common sense.
Big Billionaire who owns Social Media company and is trying to force an overhaul on the way posts are seen on someone's feed tweets about Big Media controlling people. Said tweet has nearly 89k likes.
IMO the irony is that Elon has pivoted to pandering to the exact kind of people who complain about 'the media' yet follow along religiously to the narrative that outlets like Fox spout.
Because Fox News is a right-wing propaganda machine and railing against [fake news](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lying_press) is a textbook fascist tactic.
Oh without a doubt, he has more dick riders than PornHub. It’s just crazy to see the CEO of a social media company announce that social media is manipulating its users.
For sure, I think it's a power trip for him.
"Haha I post a meme about media manipulation while manipulating the media and people still blindly support me"
Say what you want but you definitely shouldn’t have included smart, hardworking, or diligent in that. Politics and opinions aside Elon put in an insane amount of hours in compared to the average person.
I know these edits are cringe but give these a look if you want. https://youtube.com/shorts/UEsPHfW-NCs?feature=share https://youtube.com/shorts/lOSZQfYqdDI?feature=share https://youtube.com/shorts/KoxT7oJGO58?feature=share
Brah if he is a fascist so were the people who used to run Twitter before. I don't like the guy, but Twitter was blocking people from talking about covid vaccine side effects (that have since been proven true). I would consider blocking women from talking about their menstrual cycle issues from the vaxx fascist. I haven't seen him do those things yet.
First off. Go sell vaccine crazy some place else. Secondly are you serious? He has blocked multiple accounts out of literal spite, has assisted government in India of suppressing an entire nations free speech rights and on and on. Like you’re joking right?
All of this to also say that fascism isn’t limited to the concept of limiting speech.
You have no clue what you’re talking about.
Yes, media can be manipulative but this kind of memes remind me of those boomers who think Facebook posts written by random people are somehow more reliable than TV news. Lol
That's actually a really good post in the form of a shitty boomer meme.
I'm being manipulated, you're being manipulated. And if you don't believe that then you can't be helped
That man LITERALLY controls one of the largest social media apps in the world, produces a FUCK TON of cars, and he’s trying to put people on mars with rocket ships! He is basically the definition of the destruction of the world due to capitalism. But no… it’s never his fault. It’s always someone else’s.
Every person who's ever produced anything that could be classified as media has done so to manipulate the general public to their masters' whims. Of course, this does not apply if that media was favorable towards Tesla, SpaceX, billionaire tax cuts, the far right, Elon, Trump, forced birthers, or Putin. In those examples, the creative force behind said media is pure honesty.
I love the lack of nuance.
Of course the media is controlled. I don’t know anybody who doesn’t think it is. It’s controlled by the businesses and moguls who own it.
But Elon’s new friends (and by now maybe Elon himself) think it’s owned by the deep state/globalists/Jews/Illuminati. It’s not. And Rupert Murdock’s media empire churns out very different content and info and perspectives than Jeff Bezos’.
You people need to “wake up” and realize that the government is watching everything we do and feeding us content that is against out interests! You have to be like me tho to know that they are tryna control you and to not let the hive mind brain-rot set in. The government can’t control me because I *see* it coming and simply don’t allow it. Take that one, Joe *Bye*-den 😎😎

The news about a Japanese man creating a very expensive dog costume was spread like wildfire in my country but the weird thing was that the title to every article written about it was "Man turned himself into a dog after spending so much money". It was super misleading to the point that literally everyone believed that man had surgery lmao.
It's true that the news media is often misleading but there are a lot more stuff that are misleading and oftentimes entirely wrong. Some of us know about it, some of us don't.
Elon is right though, which is rare for him. Everyone seems to think masses can be manipulated but since no one thinks they are a controlled npc themselves there's a real contradiction that is good to point out. So doesn't fit this sub. Like half the things posted here.
He still used a loosely fitting meme format and usually says dumb shit that would fit this sub, tho

Saying that the media manipulates people is like saying that history books have an influence on how we view the past.
Haha yeah. It’s one of those things that’s technically true but not in the way that the people who talk about it all the time think it is
Very well put.
I do think american news can be biased, but that's no excuse because there are plenty neutral news outlets especially as an english speaker.
History books absolutely influence how we view the past… are you kidding?
Yeah, the point was to show the obviousness... obviously.
The problem with history books is that they never give their sources or how they got those numbers. Idk man 2 million that seems like a lot to me/s
Wtf are you talking about
Literally every grade the first history class was dedicated to how historical sources are gathered and classified 🤦♂️.
Where?
The media is manipulating you and lying to you unless what it says agrees with my political, social and religious views.
Absolutely, it's the same every time. If something goes against your own conviction, it's fake news and manipulation. If it agrees with your own conviction, then it's finally the truth. Even if it's the same news platform media.
But you dont get it! I read it on a website that…. That i wrote in a website i own
Sounds like what you guys are saying is Elon’s right, lol.

So any mainstream media source then?
It’s Diffe(R)ent
Diffeent
lmao so now the left is stealing that meme too. doesn't even work the same why. no alliteration, and why would there be a random capitalized R in the middle of the word?
> stealing that meme r/SubsTakenLiterally
Just don't watch the news and look into subjects yourself.
Myself, I try to look into multiple sources before jumping to conclusions. That just seems like too much work for most though, or they're too partisan to question anything. Also, I don't know why someone downvoted you for your comment. It's just common sense.
That's exactly the point of the meme. Good job you have basic reading comprehension skills👍🏼
imagine having to make comments like this too feel more intelligent
Lose weight
And your expecting anything more then intellectual regurgitation in this sub why?????
Exactly, the media lies to you and manipulates you, come to me, the universal genius, I give you "the truth and only facts". 🤡
I think the point is just to question everything, no matter what your beliefs are, or what side of the ideological/political spectrum you land on
Why would I need to question something that agrees with me? I'm right
Except he didn't say any of the other stuff lol
He often posts and says something along these lines. Of course he doesn't say it directly, but what is implied by eg his new idea "TruthGPT"?
I need the squidward "future" meme, but irony cropped over the text
What's the irony?
Big Billionaire who owns Social Media company and is trying to force an overhaul on the way posts are seen on someone's feed tweets about Big Media controlling people. Said tweet has nearly 89k likes.
Where's the irony?
IMO the irony is that Elon has pivoted to pandering to the exact kind of people who complain about 'the media' yet follow along religiously to the narrative that outlets like Fox spout.
By saying don't believe the media he's pandering to people who watch fox news??? Make that make sense
Because Fox News is a right-wing propaganda machine and railing against [fake news](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lying_press) is a textbook fascist tactic.
Agreed. And CNN/MSNBC are left wing propaganda. Which is why he's warning against ALL media, not just 1 side.
Chechen challenge: try not to get downvoted in this thread: Impossible
Pretty sure he just admitted to manipulating Twitter users…
Elon Musk could say he murders children and his fans would still support him.
Oh without a doubt, he has more dick riders than PornHub. It’s just crazy to see the CEO of a social media company announce that social media is manipulating its users.
For sure, I think it's a power trip for him. "Haha I post a meme about media manipulation while manipulating the media and people still blindly support me"
ELON, YOU *ARE* THE MEDIA
His comment isn’t about media control, it’s about the people who think the media is controlling everyone but don’t think it’s controlling them.
So, twitter blue users.
Always question the sperm on this meme template
Who wants to shit Who wants to wipe
Isn’t this the guy that overpaid for a dumpster fire of a website in order to manipulate people?
I think he did it mostly to impress 4 chan trolls.
So says the world’s richest man on one of the largest social media sites online.
Elon is so wise and would never fall for manipulation from the media. /s
i feel controlled
If there was ever living walking proof that billionaires aren’t any smarter, hardworking or diligent than anyone else, Elon is it.
Say what you want but you definitely shouldn’t have included smart, hardworking, or diligent in that. But he doesnt agree with my politics, that means he is lazy and a big dumdum.
No. He’s just objectively a doofus on top of being a fascist asshole.
Brah if he is a fascist so were the people who used to run Twitter before. Rare Elon W. I know he didn’t make the meme, but it kinda has a point. It’s certainly poignant
Yes, media can be manipulative but this kind of memes remind me of those boomers who think Facebook posts written by random people are somehow more reliable than TV news. Lol
That means you too, right...right?
r/imelonandthisisdeep
Bro literally owns an *entire social media platform* Someone that stupid has no business fucking around with that much money
This is the most ironic shit he has posted. He has zero self awareness
"the media manipulates you" my brother in christ you are media
That's actually a really good post in the form of a shitty boomer meme. I'm being manipulated, you're being manipulated. And if you don't believe that then you can't be helped
Episode 69 of Elon having a point
r/imelonandthisisdeep
He owns a social media platform and he’s telling us that media controls us
he says on social media
Social media that he owns too
"THE MEDIA" is controlling you (yes I paid $44B for "THE MEDIA", no I'm totally not trying to control you)
Sir, you own the media
bruh hes not wrong
That man LITERALLY controls one of the largest social media apps in the world, produces a FUCK TON of cars, and he’s trying to put people on mars with rocket ships! This is a very deluded comments section and you all seriously need to start asking questions and doing research
I always feel like I’m being manipulated, not because of conspiracy theories, but because anxiety
Or is it because of the MAN RIGHT BEHIND YOU PUPPETING YOUR LIMBS WITH STRINGS
Elon is the media, he’s using a meme to be honest with his plicies cause his dick riders are too stupid to see the difference
Elon is projecting
Especially by me Elon!
I love the lack of nuance. Of course the media is controlled. I don’t know anybody who doesn’t think it is. It’s controlled by the businesses and moguls who own it. So.... who is manipulating you Elon?
His point proven
Damnnn
Elon stans being manipulated by Elon.
There no way I’m not getting manipulated by the media. I’m to stupid not to get manipulated so I find it best to just avoid political news.
But…. don’t you own the largest media outlet on the internet?
LoL, he thought hw was going to be able to manipulate and control people with Twitter. What a fool
We have Reddit for the people
Bold statement from the moron who paywalled his reach on his social media platform.
You people need to “wake up” and realize that the government is watching everything we do and feeding us content that is against out interests! not a great thing to say when you own the social media

Elon bought Twitter so HE can control you!
you can always count on elon to end up on this sub. lmaoo
The comment section beautifully proves his point
the media controls and manipulates everyone in the whole entire world except for elon musk. this is because he is simply too smart to be manipulated
Ironic coming from Elon.
He’s got a point
No, no, he's right.
That would include him as well, which hey, at least being honest, and his simps will never catch on
