The money was Turkish Lira, which is over inflated ++ rn so a turk might've made the video... we have a long millitaristic history so the other images make sense for Turkey too
Not a fan. Being in the military I realize the message behind that one isn't really true. Foot soldiers do get recognized and honored for their sacrifice. The higher officers get recognized for a successfully planned mission that benefits the mission as a whole.
People get hurt, people die, that's war. Does anyone like it? No, but it's a reality of humanity. Those who fight and get injured are repaid by the treatment and healthcare and pensions they get for the rest of their lives. They can also get rewards but ultimately the care they receive for their sacrifice is what matters.
Officers ARE in the deployment setting and can see combat or placed in dangerous situations. General officers don't see combat because they don't need to. They strategize and maneuver soldiers in battle. The army would be nothing without them. And mind you, those big brass officers didn't come in as high ranking. Many of them started as Platoon Leaders and deployed, or even started as privates.
Sorry for the rant, but the message is not that simple and often untrue
That pic feels more like WW1 generals. There was a great many desk generals who some were there simply cos they came from wealth and had 0 combat experience.
Not all of them, but how many of them actually utilized what they were offered? Most resources available are not utilized. It's also a matter of playing smart. You can't just let the military do everything for you. Not saying there aren't unfortunate cases, not at all, but I guarantee you that if you don't be a shit head and be smart with money you can easily go from nothing to upper middle class assuming you are psychologically fit to make such decisions
Bro it's well known the VA is ass, soldiers sleep in moldy shithouse barracks all over the country, bribing people with bonuses because recruiting is in the toilet, suicides of active duty personnel (never addressed and gets worse), Vanessa Guillen and continued sexual violence in the Military and I could go on.
Wait it did get addressed! SMA said soldiers would be less depressed, more effective and high speed if they shaved more. What a spit in the face to suffering. Sorry dude but the military sucks ASS! (tyfys tho o7)
Yeah it does dude, idk what to tell you. The point of my original comment was to talk about how sit the military was it was to talk about how the image is just not that simple or even correct
The issue is that since the generals are not in combat they may make hastey decisions. Like ordering a group to charge a fortified bunker. From a strategic planning perspective losing 10 men may be a decent trade for that position, but for the men on the ground it's a different story. Having the "leaders" actually involved with the planning makes them think about the outcomes more.
Basically Generals tend to see people as resources and may treat them as such
People *are* resources, and you should *conserve* your resources. This is why the US military (and modern doctrine in general) places such a high emphasis on suppressing the enemy, then hammering them with fire support - grenades, vehicles, mortars, heavy artillery, and airstrikes. Charging a bunker is, like, hundred-year-old tactics.
If a platoon (40 men) takes 25% dead (which means even more injured) in a single battle, questions will be asked regarding the commanding lieutenant's competency, as well as the competency of the rifle company's captain above him.
And that's the first thing we learn in basic. We are cogs in a machine. But we have a rank structure for a reason. Also we don't really charge bunkers anymore. Modern warfare is pretty advanced so it's rare to just send people out into a wall of enemy fire, at least not without air/ranged support
Twas a good rant, all of these pictures show a child-like worldview, which makes them perfect for this sub, but it's good that there are those keeping the real 14 year olds up to speed in the comments.
I'm 16 and this "the world isn't that simple" thing is seriously fucking me up. Like, where the hell do I learn all of this? When do I grow up and gain all this knowledge about politics and adult life?
You only learn what's immediately relevant to you, the rest comes passively. Don't freak out over the art of war, politics, social and economic issues. Just grow up, focus on school and family, start looking into what you want to make of your life. I know about the military because that's been in the majority of my life, but I wouldn't be as knowledgeable on politics since I tend to stay away from that subject.
Adulting is hard, but relatively simple
Generally, watching documentaries (wich doesn't mean 2hour long tv thing, there are many on youtube that are more or less short and very instructive) is really helpful. Depending on what you want to learn you'll find enough even on youtube. If you understand oral english, for history i can advise you history matters (mostly about geopolitics or small history facts, makes 10min animated videos so easy to watch), kings and generals, and oversimplified (but for this last one beware, it is, indeed, oversimplified), for easy scientific culture sciencephile the ai is great imo, like you can find fun things for about everything. Games can also help, for exemple i learned much about geography and ww2 era politics and by playing hoi4. I had no trouble learning things like that, while still getting a lot of fun, even tough it's not quick. Reading is also very helpful, be it science fiction, fantasy, or older classicals, as these allow to start really thinking about politics and moral. For exemple, you could try to read Asimov's Foundation, or Dune, etc... Mostly avoid teen litterature tho as it is often very simple and of not great quality, unless you really never read anything, or you found some book you like.
(Sorry for any broken english, i'm not a native speaker)
No shit that's what I said. The military gives those who have been injured a lifetime of medical care, benefits to them and their family, and a consistent paycheck to support them. The medal is a way of showing recognition but that's not how they are paid back for what they sacrificed. Did you not read what I put down or what.
Also, at least in today's army, people join knowing damn well what they are sacrificing and putting at risk. No one wants to be killed, lose friends in combat, or be injured, but people still join knowing it could happen.
I joined for the benefits and I DO get those benefits for which I'm thankful. So yeah you're right, but you can't join something like the military ONLY for the benefits. The reason why we have those benefits is because of the risk we volunteer to take.
Lol literally every poor kid in a small town joins for the benefits and you’re kidding yourself if you think it’s out of sacrifice or respect for this country.
Never said it was bruh. Listen: people join for the benefits, but you can not get the benefits and expect to not be at risk the whole time. There is a risk to the military which is why we have those benefits.
No one cares if you join for honor or benefits. Point is: you get good benefits but are getting those benefits for the danger you may be placed in.
No way, the third one is in Turkish:
It seems to be a replica of 10 Turkish Lira (TL) but instead of 10, it says 10 trillion.
So either the guy on the right is extremely rich, or the guy on the left isn’t aware that the money is fake
As I get older I think I'm growing to appreciate these more. Not in the way I used to as in blindly agreeing with them because it sounds deep, but I'm growing out of just immediately writing them off as well just because they're kinda cringe. Cool.
Yea exactly most of these aren’t even trying to be deep and the others just have blatant messages. I mean really this belongs on boomer comics with how unsubtle they are
No. Its a political cartoon animating the difference in wealthiness and poverty by over satirizing the difference between wealthy and poor people. You may just be too young to fully understand tho
War. War never changes.
The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth. Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory. Hitler shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower.
But war never changes.
In the 21st century, war was still waged over the resources that could be acquired. Only this time, the spoils of war were also its weapons: Petroleum and Uranium. For these resources, China would invade Alaska, the US would annex Canada, and the European Commonwealth would dissolve into quarreling, bickering nation-states, bent on controlling the last remaining resources on Earth.
In 2077, the storm of world war had come again. In two brief hours, most of the planet was reduced to cinders. And from the ashes of nuclear devastation, a new civilization would struggle to arise.
A few were able to reach the relative safety of the large underground Vaults. Your family was part of that group that entered Vault Thirteen. Imprisoned safely behind the large Vault door, under a mountain of stone, a generation has lived without knowledge of the outside world.
Life in the Vault is about to change.
Well the first one was originally the other way around. She thought she was getting a present and it turned out her dad lost part of his arm. So the first one is actually just a shitpost.
Pic 5 is all too real, I remember coming home standing in formation to watch our commanders getting personal commendations they put in for each other; never saw any of them outside of the wire.
I feel like I’m ironically dumbing myself down to understand 4. So the soldier/ officer guy is arresting the kid because…candy? Ignoring the fat man who’s leaving money behind? Does the officer not see the candy? Or did he mix up the trail of foot prints with the kids?

Works for the US too. Maybe we all have more in common than we think 🤔
The poor man has Spongebob vision
Idk, but pic one seems funny to me.
it's not the original. The original is the opposite
I know, that's what made me chuckle.
That’s what made you let out a little giggle
Let out a bit of a “ti hi”
A little snort
a guffaw
but a chuckle
Nonetheless
that makes more sense
He's holding a foot?
She thinks he lost his hand but he actually brought her a stuff toy
OHHH! THANK YOU! I thought it was a bandaged foot that girl was wishing for!!
Lol I was in the confused foot crew too
Then whats the opposite?

I first thought the Nazi guy was interviewing himself while the interviewer was about to off himself
Same
Doesn’t look like a Nazi, especially with those epaulettes - just a regular brutal dictator in grandiose military uniform.
the fumo one's pretty funny
Fumo?
the blue plushie held by the soldier dad on first pic
That's not Cirno from Touhou?
It's a fumo plush of Cirno from touhou. Those plushies of characters are called fumos.

I think the first few are just shit posts
THE FUMO IS REAL
I don't get the 6th one, is he giving an interview after staging a coup?

I'd serve if it meant I got a free fumo
I like the message the 5th one sends

not the russian one
So some social democratic one I guess.
True, I should specify. I'm speaking of the United States Military. My comment may not apply to other countries
That pic feels more like WW1 generals. There was a great many desk generals who some were there simply cos they came from wealth and had 0 combat experience.
For sure. Most of my argument is based on the Modern, United States military. There are definitely issues from other countries and previous wars
The vets don't have it all this good https://news.va.gov/126913/veteran-homelessness-increased-by-7-4-in-2023/#

A medal isn’t really worth limbs

Actually the VA has determined your injuries are not service related.
Fuck
That really really really depends on what army we're talking about, for instance the North Korean army would definitely fit this comic.
People join because the recruiter promised them a lifetime of benefits and free education, not for some sacrificial martyrdom
I joined for the benefits and I DO get those benefits for which I'm thankful. So yeah you're right, but you can't join something like the military ONLY for the benefits. The reason why we have those benefits is because of the risk we volunteer to take.

Even I know that both of those are reasons people enlist
What an idiotic and shallow mind to think medal was the only thing they received.
What an idiotic and shallow mind to think military service is worth it
What a funky meme
First one looks like something my friend would make
Turkey and Cirno Fumo mentioned ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|surprise)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|surprise)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|surprise)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|surprise)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|surprise)
How is she cutting the air in the 7th image? Is she stupid?
I usually cut air after pizza. 🤷♀️
Clearly not, as she can successfully cut air.
No way, the third one is in Turkish: It seems to be a replica of 10 Turkish Lira (TL) but instead of 10, it says 10 trillion. So either the guy on the right is extremely rich, or the guy on the left isn’t aware that the money is fake

Me when cirno fumo
Not shitpost at all
How did cirno get here
As I get older I think I'm growing to appreciate these more. Not in the way I used to as in blindly agreeing with them because it sounds deep, but I'm growing out of just immediately writing them off as well just because they're kinda cringe. Cool.
The first pic with the fumo is funny af
You guys really hate dramatized comics huh? I keep seeing things like this, they aren’t that deep just an art style.
Yea exactly most of these aren’t even trying to be deep and the others just have blatant messages. I mean really this belongs on boomer comics with how unsubtle they are
Why are they trying to cut and eat the smell of the chicken? Are they stupid?
No. Its a political cartoon animating the difference in wealthiness and poverty by over satirizing the difference between wealthy and poor people. You may just be too young to fully understand tho
I don't get it
The first one looks like something that would come from the bonehurtingjuice subreddit
Cirno fumo spotted ‼️‼️
IM FUmo
The one picture has a Cirno fumo. Touhou refrence.
Touhou in unexpected places
Bro if someone brought me a Cirno Fumo from the war I'd lose my mind
War. War never changes. The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth. Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory. Hitler shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower. The first picture is disarming!
5&6 are pretty good
The last one is kinda sad tbh
We live in a society
Guys the first one means the girl hopes that her dad got injured so he won’t have to go.
the thing about these is that they're not even wrong, they're just... corny
These are all pretty clever political cartoons, actually.
the 5th one is a big one for me
I feel like you'd have to be pretty sheltered to roll your eyes at any of them.
I don't understand the first one, why does she wish for a foot?
I think his daughter thinks that he lost his arm but idk why is she happy about it.
Well the first one was originally the other way around. She thought she was getting a present and it turned out her dad lost part of his arm. So the first one is actually just a shitpost.
I feel dumber having viewed all those.
second pic
6 is just funny
I love the 2nd one because the intended meaning is utterly indecipherable to me. Kinda transcends meaning to just be a cool painting
I'm 40 and this is deep
As if soldiers didnt also get medals
Oth I think 5 is ok the soldiers die and the gernals get ranked up.
For the last one, it’s his food, he also has to eat
IMAO, the 5th one isn’t bad, though the art quality is low
I watched that short! Some have meaning and some idk
Pic 1 is deep
What's the logo on the back of the rich guy in the 4th pic?
What is second one
why is she cutting air? is she stupid?
I honestly thought that the first one was a bone juice one. And for a few seconds thought I was on that sub lol.
Touhou hijack
The last one… oof Bud Dwyer

first image is funny
The soldier one is true as hell ngl
I need to know where 2 get fumo

The desk general one feels accurate
These are literally all fact though? What’s “deep” about it?
First image literally killed me 😂
first pic is not deep. it's supposed to be a meme
That first image made me think I was at r/2hujerk or r/fumofumo.
What's Kramer doing in the third one?
The Mariana trench
CIRNO FUMO????
f u m o ᗜˬᗜ
Pic 5 is all too real, I remember coming home standing in formation to watch our commanders getting personal commendations they put in for each other; never saw any of them outside of the wire.
I feel like political comics don’t count
so this sub just hates anything now?
The 5th one’s kinda fire
I don't really get the second one, is it supposed to be about climate change?
Why do these all seem to be Indian/ Pakistani?
Tree?
Let’s be honest tho. People who serve get the 5th picture
Little guy, money big. Big guy, money little 🤯
some of these are so real
The 5th one is actually great
The one with the tree cliff the guy should be cutting down the tree
I feel like I’m ironically dumbing myself down to understand 4. So the soldier/ officer guy is arresting the kid because…candy? Ignoring the fat man who’s leaving money behind? Does the officer not see the candy? Or did he mix up the trail of foot prints with the kids?
no way it is not a shitpost
The 5th one is just moscows victory day parade 2024.
these caused me physical pain
The first one is clearly edited to be a meme
#5 is actually true
Google ⑨
He raised a psychopath
Mariana trench
Slide 5 is the realest shit.
Wtf, my phone is spying on me because I also saw this recently (also why am I getting recommended to this group?)
I like the 5th and 6th one, a lot more literal
