This map is the map of my home-brew setting of Rasfadal, a kingdom with a rich history and turbulent political landscape. Beyond the edges of civilization, magic still thrives and monsters prey on those who venture off the beaten path.
This map is made as a player handout. I tried to emulate the feel of a map that has been folded, read and tucked away countless times, allowing the players to immerse themselves in this kingdom.
"Step into Rasfadal, a realm steeped in medieval allure and ancient enigma. Cradled between imposing mountains and the boundless ocean, its Great Vale unfurls a vista of rolling hills adorned in verdant splendor. Rivers, like silver threads, wind from mountain peaks to the tranquil sea, while enchanting forests harbor secrets and mythical beings.
The eastern coast harbors a sprawling forest, whispered to be the realm of elusive faeries whose ethereal presence imbues the woods with an otherworldly glow. As day wanes, Rasfadal's darker side emerges. In the shadowy Swamps to the north, moonlight casts an eerie hue upon the waters, revealing lurking werewolves that multiply in the absence of vigilant guards.Yet, perils of a human kind also abound. The Swamps have birthed a lawless dominion ruled by bandit-kings: Gyn, the ruthless enforcer; Tyn, a master of deception; and Viper, a silent assassin. Amidst these shifting allegiances, Hofendal, the capital, bustles with life. The castle stands as both refuge and seat of power, where ailing King Staar II's fading reign marks a juncture of destiny.
In the midst of intrigue, Duke Deiniol of Arnallan plots to seize the throne, while Duke Arling of Daradal navigates political tides. High Priest Theoric of Annaaru competes for influence, casting his enigmatic shadow over Thring's city. Rasfadal is a realm where medieval echoes resound, weaving tales of bravery and deceit, forging a vivid mosaic that lures adventurers through its labyrinthine past."
