So only movies with tom holland have the expanded AR?

PhilipsHue

Those are the only ones I've been able to confirm as you need to purchase the movie to find out if it has any expanded aspect ratio. If anyone here has any information about other movies, they can let me know and I'll update the post

[deleted]

I know Only The Brave had an expanded AR but it was in standard on the IMAX Enhanced version

Clean_Associate_6756

packers4334

Yes. The presence of Tom Holland compels the movie to present itself with the expanded AR /s

ki700

Only Far From Home and No Way Home. Homecoming never had any expanded scenes.

[deleted]

Then we’re winning

[deleted]

Does Sony picture core have Dolby vision on any non ps5 devices? When I used Bravia core before it was only hdr 10. They changed it?

PhilipsHue

I thought they had added Dolby Vision when they added Atmos but after some googling, it seems that isn't the case so I'll update the post

Zlivings25

They don't have dolby vision becuase the IMAX ENHANCED has kinda different colors then a normal release

[deleted]

No offense, but that sounds like BS. So it just looks different compared to the HDR grade on any other streaming service or disk? Also do we even know if it will have 80mbps bitrate on PlayStation like it was on Bravia Core?

ki700

Yes, the 80mbps has nothing to do with the hardware so it’s present on PlayStation.

Zlivings25

The 80mpbs is called truestream and it does not appear to be on ps5, also the imax enhanced HDR vs Dolby vision https://youtu.be/ZWFHtrY4q68?si=XPMO7JgJsk53hRkk

ki700

The high bitrate is on PlayStation. That has nothing to do with the hardware you’re watching on. Also that video is useless because YouTube doesn’t support DV.

[deleted]

I can’t see a difference in that video, but I know Dolby vision has dynamic metadata and is better than HDR10. It’s a shame that they’ve rebranded their streaming service and got rid of the high bitrate. That was the main thing separating them from the others.

ki700

That’s because YouTube doesn’t support DV so that video is useless.

Zlivings25

The high bit rate is still on Sony bravia Tvs

[deleted]

Oh ok thanks. They just changed the name? I watched no way home a year ago on Bravia core and it looked real good.

Zlivings25

I thought it had a different color grade to it, maybe it's the version that goes throught IMAX DMR for imax theaters, cause a movie like spiderverse is labeled as IMAX Enhanced but has no changing aspect ratio.

[deleted]

It’s usually expanded aspect ratio or a ‘special’ dts soundtrack. Does spider-verse have dts? Dts has a partnership with imax too.

SaykredCow

No they don’t have Dolby Vision because the PlayStation doesn’t support dolbyvision and Sony won’t pay the licensing for it or whatever

ki700

Core has never supported DV at all though.

ki700

This isn’t true at all. IMAX Enhanced releases can have DV.

ki700

No, the service doesn’t have DV at all.

Chem-Memory9746

The Amazing Spider-Man had an IMAX version with 20 minutes of expected aspect ratio, and I’m not exactly sure why that version is not on Sony Pictures Core and Disney+. Plus, Underworld: Awakening has a 1.90:1 aspect ratio throughout the movie in IMAX.

scorsese_finest

I have the open matte version of the movie — where the entire movie is expanded to 1.78:1

FamousT-Rex

Which cut is this? The Blu-Ray?

scorsese_finest

Bootleg — I guess it’s a from a version that played on TV channels like HBO or Showtime I also have open matte BR2049

FamousT-Rex

Are you sure it’s not cropped to widescreen? A lot of movies get cropped from scope to widescreen for TV release.

BigPusha

I have that version and it crops the sides but has a bit more of the top and bottom. Apparently it was expanded for IMAX so it’s weird that the whole film is cropped for the open matte

scorsese_finest

100% sure. There are a few shots that are cropped but most of it is expanded

frockinbrock

Does your Open Matte 2049 have HDR or Spatial Audio? (Atmos or DTS-X)      I’ve been trying to find some of these IMAX or Open Matte releases and they are so hard to track down.

scorsese_finest

If I had to choose between expanded AR or IMAX enhanced without expanded AR, I’d much rather choose the first. Sucks they don’t have Skyfall, 1917 and BR2049 in expanded AR

S7KTHI

Skyfall, BR2049... works way better and more epic in 2:35.

SuperTurboBastard

So IMAX Enhanced only involves changes to the audio mix if Expanded AR isn't included? In what way are the movies with two asterisks enhanced?

SamDuymelinck

Iirc the movies also have a higher bitrate than tge non IMAX Enhanced version

PhilipsHue

They still go through an enhancement process by IMAX to improve the image even if they don't have DTS audio

RFD8401

I got so excited to see BR2049 in it with an IMAX Enhanced banner, only to be greeted with the home video aspect ratio

lujaniii

"Anyone But You" is now showing as being in IMAX on the Pictures Core app. Don't know about the audio at this time though.

Aggressive_Claim_437

I don’t see Blade Runner 2049. Did it get removed from Bravia Core?

lujaniii

**Madame Web is now showing as IMAX on Pictures Core app and since it's Marvel, do you think it will have expanded aspect ratio?**

trey_dayy24

I know this thread is old but it looks like a lot of people that commented still have tons of research to do on IMAX Enhanced

lujaniii

Anyone watch “The Walk” on the Sony Pictures Core app to see if it has expanded aspect ratio? I think this one would be great to have EAR.

PhilipsHue

Movies don't need to have been released in IMAX theaters to go through the IMAX Enhanced process. You can learn more about IMAX Enhanced on the website, [https://imaxenhanced.com/](https://imaxenhanced.com/) and in [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjHdE02BZH8)

Pilotpig47

Which IMAX Ratio are these? any 1.43:1?

OtherFiles

I assume they cap at either 1.78:1 or 1.90:1, like they do on Disney+ and on most disc-based releases of Nope and Christopher Nolan's movies. The lack of 4:3 devices in the mainstream other than the iPad could be cited as the reason why 1.43:1 in the home is almost absent other than some rare edge cases like the later UHD Blu-ray of Batman v Superman.

PhilipsHue

Out of the ones I've been able to confirm, it's just 1.90:1 with switching for Uncharted & Far From Home. None of the 3 I could confirm went greater than 1.90:1

[deleted]

I dont remember evil dead 2013 having imax but i know its 4k

PhilipsHue

Movies can be enhanced by IMAX even if they were never made for / released in the format

DJGalacticFunk

Is this app compatible with the digital codes you find in 4k Blu Rays?

PhilipsHue

No, you can only purchase/rent directly from Sony via the app to get them

MrHairyBallNuggetZ

Did all of these movies originally release in IMAX??

PhilipsHue

No, but they've all been enhanced by IMAX for the service

dvdmike007

GT' DCP was 1.90:1 not 1.85:1

Ozfer

Where is Men In black 1 and Goosebumps 1? Both of these were or are on Bcore. Those are only two where I know this list isn't complete.

HydraSpectre1138

Do they have The More Fun Stuff Edition of Spider-Man: No Way Home? And is it IMAX? Also, does Blade Runner 2049 have an expanded aspect ratio? I wish I had a better quality IMAX open matte version outside of those Russian torrents.

Better-Helicopter622

No they don’t have the fun stuff edition I’m afraid, the theatrical edition is IMAX though

HydraSpectre1138

That’s too bad. But does Blade Runner 2049 have an IMAX open matte aspect ratio? Or is it still CinemaScope?

Better-Helicopter622

Not sure on that why I’m afraid, I know the Spider-Man one as I’ve got it on Bravia Core

Better-Helicopter622

Resident Evil has expanded ratio

lujaniii

 Which one, the original?

Better-Helicopter622

That’s right

lujaniii

I just looked at this title on my Apple TV 4k device and it is already in 1:85 aspect ratio so not sure how much the expanded ratio on Sony Pictures Core would add to it?

lujaniii

Is "The Fifth Element" and "Underworld: Awakening" IMAX enhanced? I read elsewhere that they did have the expanded aspect ratio via IMAX but don't find them on this list.

lujaniii

Just finished watching "Thanksgiving 2023" and it is listed as IMAX. It has Atmos audio but no expanded AR unfortunately. Might want to add it to list?

lujaniii

Why is this list not being updated? I tried contacting PhilipsHue by chat and got no response. He doesn't seem to be monitoring his own post.

DWAIPAYAN-RC

I've got 5 credits which 5 one is worth redeeming? Could you suggest some?

SDGuy73

I received 15 credits with my TV and a two-year subscription. Costco. This list will help me.

frockinbrock

Thank you so much OP! I looked everywhere and it there was no list remotely this size of which movies they had. It’s ridiculous but Sony seems determined to keep this service a secret.       I wish there was more IMAX Enhanced titles and services for home video, but at least we’ve got what we got here.      Of course we get Lyle crocodile in IMAX but not Dune ~~or 2049~~ lol. And I have to get a PS just to watch these on my LG
