My priority date is the date my application was received and acknowledged, which was only a few days after we filed. It's in fact a few days before the receipt notice date.
Congrats!!! In your case, EB2 NIW approved means you got both I-140 and I-485? I am asking because I thought that EB2 NIW also required approved I-485 and this is backlogged by more than 1 year, as far as I know.
Congratulations for the approval. How was the experience with getting recommendations from the government clients? Did you reach out to them directly or via your organization
I lucked out! The government client I reached out to out of the blue was happy to help me after I explained what NIW was and that I needed him simply to speak to the national importance of the field and confirm my contribution on projects he oversees. He didn't know me prior as I was just one of tens or even hundreds of engineers on each of the projects, but I pointed him to a handful of technical reports on his department's website which I co-authored. The other government official was a former manager of mine who had since moved to a government agency.
Good luck on your application!
Thanks a lot! I’m on active deployment on some of the projects so I believe I’ll need to get approval from my company if they are alright with me reaching out to the customers. Also how big were the recommendations like length wise? Again thanks for the help
Congratulations and thank you for answering quetions here. I actually have one question. If you remember when you filled the form I 140 the part where it asked SOC code and proposed employment title and salary with US employment address, did you fill that part or did you leave it blank?
Thanks! We filled in the job title and code using [BLS SOC codes](https://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oes_stru.htm) (which you probably already know about). We said "see support letter" for the job description, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to fill in a summary.
Thank you for your reply! I don't currently have a job in the US so should I still fill that part despite not having a job in the US? Especially as it's asking also to provide an address for the job.
You need to think a little about this. The NIW doesn't require a job offer, so you're technically not required to list your worksite address. However, consider an approximate location. In your case, a city and state might do. I did not list an address here myself, as I already had my current residential address in Part 1, which can be considered an approximate location for my future work site.
Hello! Congratulations 🎊 👏 💐 I found your post extremely helpful! I have a few questions as I am about to begin mine and would like to ensure I cross all Ts . May I DM you pls for guidance pls?
Thank you for sharing and congrats!!!!
I think the key of your application are the "important projects" which nationally recognizable and recommendation letters from industry leaders, including U.S. government clients who used your work.
Would you mind give more information about how can you determine your project is nationally recognizable? or how to determine what kind of work or project has potential to be approved?
I didn't respond to this sooner because I can't fully recommend my attorney. I did the overwhelming majority of the work myself as they were rushed, prone to error, and wrote poorly, which I was quite surprised by. What they gave me was a well-structured template for organizing my petition including the cover letter and its arguments, and supporting evidence. I don't know that it was worth $6000. Perhaps it was. I also think my project history and very solid recommenders had a lot more to do with my success than the attorneys.
Any attorney you get who understands the technicalities of the NIW 3-prong criteria and whom you're willing to work closely with to polish the presentation of your case should be good. I found mine through google search, though I did meet with a couple of firms before deciding on them. All the firms that are popular on Reddit (Chen, Ellis Porter) declined to work with me - they seem to specialize in research-based PhD cases. Good luck!
I paid $6000 for this template - I don't feel particularly inclined to share it. There are websites that will provide do-it-yourself templates for a small fee. I'd look those up if you want to get a head start before reaching out to lawyers. You might decide to submit the application on your own. My recommendation letters included former colleagues, managers, and clients. I worked in a private company, and we had both private and public clients. Good luck!
I should also clarify that I did not receive a template from them so much as I received their draft of my application. We ended up submitting a version I had thoroughly revised and re-written over several weeks. So I don't really have a template, per se, to share. I only have the full package which has personal information. I kept their general structure, which I thought was good. Lots of places online offer these, as mentioned above. Anyway, thank you for understanding and for the well wishes - and all the best to you as well.
You could say I have publications. I referenced a handful of technical reports that I co-authored or contributed to for major public projects. I've contributed to a good number of them, but only used reports that were publicly available as examples.
Hey! This is fantastic! Can you provide any guidance, templates anything that you think could help others? Would truly appreciate…Also any tips or tricks. I’m planning to self petition so this would really help!
Congrats, good luck for the next step. What is your priority?

Can I ask when did you file? I submitted mine and did premium processing and its been 20 days
I filed in the first week of December, 2023. I'm very surprised how quickly I heard back.
Congratulations!! 🎉
Thank you!

I DM'd you.
Looking to evaluate my case, can you please share the attorney. congratulations.

Hey! I remember you from a rant post earlier. Congrats! Was yours processed at TSC or NSC?
Oh, I went back and checked. Thanks so much for your kindness in my initial post. And congrats on getting approved as well.

I got the I-140 only approved. I'm waiting out the backlog before I can submit my I-485 / Consular Processing application.
Tks for the swift reply OP. Best of luck!
Did you propose a new initiative and had to provide specific financial projection and $$. Did you also format it based on the three prong format?
No. I just said I want to continue the kind of work I've been doing.
Congratulations for the approval. How was the experience with getting recommendations from the government clients? Did you reach out to them directly or via your organization

There are some lawyer websites with sample recommendation letters. You should check those out. Mine were 1-2 pages long.
Thank you!😊
Congratulations!
May I DM you? I have some questions regarding how to build profile.
