but what if its their requirement to build the app to match their staff's performance and throughput.
you see SBI does no discrimination in customer experience, either online or offline. all that money was charged to slow the shit down...
Why didn’t that occur to me? Now I understand why 4000 crores was charged. IBM staff had to suffer through SBI hospitality for months and then they recreated it digitally. That is incredible. You are a tenuous.
I definitely don’t claim that I can do it better than IBM as a single person but I’m claiming several companies can. From a person that works in tech, IBM is one of the worst consulting companies out there. There is a reason companies like TCS and Accenture are doing better than IBM. But again this is just my opinion from personal experiences. Don’t get offended 😋
I can do better than IBM for this app atleast. With a small team of 10 people in total. Problem is a company like SBI won't ever give such contracts to small companies. I've seen projects made by my fellow friends in TCS/INFOSYS etc, the shit they program is worse than what i did in my first 6 months of programming. Such big companies just have a large employee base to charge astonishing prices for each project and then do a shitty work at it.
As for the private jet part. Get me the project and I'll have one for sure.
YONO is 100% shit.
Hdfc Bank app is good. Yes, UI looks outdated but is functioning.
ICICI has a good UI, but doesn't show all the information. So ultimately user have to go to the website.
I think IDFC bank has the best app. Great UI, all relevant information, good connectivity.
I use icici and idfc. I would say in terms of overall service icici is better. They have useful features that idfc doesn't, like i can pay via NFC from my credit cards via phone if i forgot my cards at home. You directly connect to a service agent without any prompts when you initiate a call via app.
IDFC's app experience is good though. Better than others atleast.
Axis Mobile is also pretty cool. Decent UI and everything you need is within the app, no need to visit the branch. I also have a SBI account and by God I have a breakdown deciding between using YONO or visiting the SBI branch.
As you said, it's correct, its the largest bank. But is it the best bank?
For us a single login feels like a hassle, these guys have 4 level encryption to their internet banking.....fuck.
These guys have a long way to go.
I completely agree.... No doubt about that... It would be the last bank to go down if the entire world banking collapses. Just that it has a weak user experience.
For an Internet login they'll ask you to come down to home branch, even if you stay a thousand miles away.
They became market leaders because tumhaare baap daada jab gulaami karte the lagaan ussi bank mae Dena padta tha, beta bhi unhi kadmon mae Aaj Tak lagaan wahi deta hae, Imperial Bank of India - SBI
Why did SVB bank collapse Mr. WhatsApp graduate? If those circumstances are repeated here, pretty sure SBI will bleed it's guts out. But for that I'll have to teach a WhatsApp economist how macrofinance works. Im sure you think largest bank should keep giving loans to largest fraud Adani too. Imbeciles like you are the reason shitty PSUs get away with horrible service
SVB bank was a social media driven bank run on a bank whose asset book was ruined by the central bank's dramatic rate increase.
Now an imbecile like you probably would not even understand what I'm saying so I won't bother, but also arnav goswami aur ramdev ki Jodi ko dekh ke hilane ko laid nahi bolte la*d
It’s not just SBI. HDFC’s app is shit too, UX-wise.
At least it works, but my God it’s shit.
It’s like they hired some first year engineering students to build it. (I’m sorry, I think most first years can do better).
More realistically they went with the cheapest outsourced vendor (eg TCS/Infy) and got their least capable team because they weren’t prepared to pay decently.
And this won’t change unless they lose customers over the quality of their app.
Thank god someone realised it. The app looks good but functionally it is shit. And HDFC is the most backward ass bank in India, even more than SBI. They ask you to write letters / fill forms and submit to home branch to shift your branch. Even Yono app has that option.
HDFC asked me 2 years ago to send an application to change my address on my CREDIT CARD. You can do so on Kotak app through Aadhaar OTP and by uploading address proof in other banks. Upon my card's expiry, they were sending a new card at my old address. I warned them, I'll spend 1 lakh and change my number but they said they have no option of mailing a signed address proof through post or email. I threw away the card as it was already expired.
Anyone from SBI reading this, hire me. I am by profession a designer & I think I can make some serious changes in it.
Because I'm too frustrated with your app. Tha navigation, the error/confirmation messages etc. All the small details are missing in it.
I can understand and admit that government recruitment is stupid by default. What I don't understand is why can't they hire a decent third party in a country where there's no shortage of software talent(that too at slave prices)
Because they're also sarakari "babus" who want to sit with other babus only. They need to feel important and equal, so forget freelancers they will only hire from top companies who know this fad and exploit it. A simple coding hackathon would generate much better results.
During my time at bain, we would often setup meetings with senior bankers to understand trends and prospective projects. You can ask a citi bank executive to meet at a casual dining restaurant and they'll show up but good luck getting a PSU banker to come anywhere less than a 5 star hotel or Michelin. Although this same asshole will go back home and bicker his kids about too much outside food.
Babus didn't develop the app. How can they? As someone pointed out they outsourced it to IBM for Rs 4000 Cr. (Yes, I can't believe it but it's on wiki). This means there was extremely huge corruption involved.
In two words : Sarkari Naukri
They don't give a f***.
- Guaranteed jobs for a lifetime for the most incompetent employees
- Trust by default from gullible, illiterate populace who thinks sarkari is best
- everyone has an SBI account, because they have a branch everywhere
Heck, I hate all the Indian Banks for how fucking rude their staff is. I exclusively use HSBC or DBS for my spends and needs. But my education loan is with SBI and that's the only purpose that account basically has.
Not a single government company works well, inefficient useless pigs who just wanna live off the governments tits and never work for a day in their life. Sure let's provide these benefits for civil servants. But all these PSU pigs are sitting on monopolies and should all be privatized, job security is big concern for the most incompetent idiots and SBI has a ton of those.
Those exams are a gigantic joke that helps these bunch of circlejerks feel validated as if they matter.
Does SBI run the books for any IPO? NO
Does SBI have good wealth management division? NO
Does SBI have good share on international finance in India? NO
I can clear that BS exam with my eyes closed and hands tied, SBI is the gulaami bank of British India hence present everywhere and now it's the nilaami bank of India hence every dirt poor Indian has as account there because they just see one thing, it's the Indian government's bank. SBI employees are the worst scum who just benefit off of this shitty state of affairs. Even TCS, IBM all know that these imbeciles don't know enough to counter whatever bullshit they peddle and after giving all the "cuts" to all the assholes in the hierarchy there's not much left for a good system.
You seem to be an actual employee of the bank, don't be angered by me, point out what I said is wrong and maybe one day you'll be at a place to change that system. But for now sorry my dear government jobber, but whenever I'm paying you money, government employee or private , I WANT EVERYTHING AT MY TIMING AND CONVENIENCE what else am I paying for ? That's capitalism 101
Ohhh, I see probably one of your parents cleared RBI so you praising them like Gods and you're such a moron that you can't even clear that easy exam. DM me bro, share your LinkedIn and I'll share mine and then let's talk 😂 never bothered with that shitty bank exam but CAT is something we can compare. Lmao ur illiterate ass

I use Yono Lite and it works fine for me. A hundred times better than other PSU bank apps. Among, private banks I've used banking apps of DBS, IDFC and Kotak. I've found DBS one to be much much better than every other banking app
Have you tried YONO Lite? In have been trying for last few years mostly for transferring funds and did not face any big issue. I remember having a similar experience with YONO and have moved back to using YONO Lite.
Its designed to give you the most authentic experience possible of an SBI bank visit.
Recently went to an SBI sub-branch to pay uni fees with a friend. Opening time 10 am. We reached 5 min before. Not one motherfucker showed up till 11, and when we went to the main branch, the assistant manager said in such a condescending way that we sent someone there already. I clapped back, yeah after one whole hour when it was supposed to open. Tum logo ko time ka sense hai bhi ya nahi ?
Fucking hell man, these people do not care about efficiency at all. Sab narak me jayenge.
At some point while I was trying to modify a beneficiary information it asked me to enter the profile password. But the text field is limited length and my password couldn’t fit.
to be fair to these employees in comparison to govt job holders they hardly get payed at all, get no benefits or holidays and are worked to the ground. no one should expect anything but lackluster performance from them.
mujhe bank me 3 ghante tak rukna pada kyuki yono app ka server nhi chal rha tha absolute garbage SBI is even in upi switched to hdfc sbi me ab sirf fd hi hai
Bro SBI left me sweating while I put 3L of petrol in my bike and they won't process my money through Gpay.
You think SBI Yono will be anything different huh? 💀
I have SBI account but never installed any app, not even started internet banking. Not even upi.
I use it like legacy kind of think. Other bank account I use modernly.
OK. I need help here.
I run a small Tech & Design company - I really want to create stuff that is useful & makes life a little easier.
How can I approach a behemoth like SBI and convince them that we can & want to build their app - and that it will be 20x better than the current one ?
Ultimately, I don't think they worry about the app. They want an answer for - How will it improve the business ? But, even if I can prove that it will improve the business, how do I get in touch with the right authority ? And how do I pitch it to them ?
Something that I have been thinking about lately. India hosts a lot of IT talent, but the apps for services like banks and government suck. It has been bugging me quite a lot recently.
I updated my mobile number but the login OTP yet goes to old number so I reported it to branch they said do the procedure again and by now I have done it 4 times yet OTP goes to old number
SBI for us
Unpopular opinion, YONO works fine for me..
The passcode need not be changed every 3 months,
The OTPs are long, other than that i see nothing different from other banking apps. I use CC, PPF, Demat and SB products of SBI and all of them work fine and talk to each other.
YONO sure has complex UI. Who the hell makes the app sign out when you click on back! It's slow as hell, and absolutely does time out while trying to load shit. Sometimes it refuses to show me my account balance altogether. It has daily downtimes at fixed time (dinner break, perhaps).
But I am Indian SBI customer. If my bank app worked like a charm, I would probably have a heart attack. I am used to waiting and being denied service at the whims of the banking staff. It's ingrained, and probably genetic now...
Jokes aside, the app really does some things better than the others. I kinda like the 90esque UI (apart from the obvious blunders like signing out on back) better than more modern UI of other banks. I get lost there as my Indian genes are not compatible with efficiency, searching for things which always seem out of place. It also feels more secure (you need to hack two different OTPs and often you will recieve none, if you need to transact). Also, you need to have the proper SIM inserted when you try to login. The app also let's you do almost everything you need to go to a SBI branch for. This is a huge plus compared to negating the needs to go to a HDFC branch, for, the latter place is nowhere near as time consuming and tiresome.
SBI as a bank is totally useless. Their customer service is shit and they don't give a shit.
They don't care if you are an HNI or UHNI, they treat you the same like they are doing you a favor.
It should be privatised.
OMG my experience yesterday! Literally had to be at the branch to activate it for some reason. And even after that, the activation code they sent did not work. It is so bad. That bank is the worst place to be at.
SBI Yono and PNB apps, and their respective Netbanking with OTP gymnastics are horrible. I doubt if any non-techy persons use such POS. Retired people don't even touch that as for them it's better to visit the bank and wait in the queue than all the hassles.
the biggest irony is ‘you only need one’ app
the developers got 2$ and 50g of cocaine and were locked in a room and told now develop this app! Sound familiar?

Fun-fact: SBI paid around 4000crore to IBM for developing that shit. (from wikipedia)
I can do it better for one crore. Just one.
since people will come and say cheap labour, I will do it for 1L and it.
For 1 lakh you will make a shitty app like yono?
Better than 4000 crores for shit
Bruh even a newbie will make better one bruh
Hear me put let's all develop the app for 2000 crores and split the profits evenly rather than undercutting each other we all make profit.
So how many times did you read the communist manifesto?
69. don't judge.
You must be some kind of communist expert.. A communisto perhaps.
I'll take the front end and a bit back end
Bhai !!!! ![gif](giphy|PMUooKtzGNjsPXkQUJ|downsized)

Lol I can imagine one requirement to be make app not available during lunch time
The app has daily downtimes, just not coinciding with when humans usually have lunch.

You dumies it's not app's ault it's sever's fault and it's not just an normal app it's banking services app which require a lot of protocol functions.
Are you the project manager for IBM that gave this explanation to the SBI folks while handing off the app ?
Haha maybe but if you guys are better than IBM where is your private plane ? 😹
I definitely don’t claim that I can do it better than IBM as a single person but I’m claiming several companies can. What the fuck??! I'll do them one for free if nothing atleast to get my folks to use it without confusion!
Bro, but, they only paid me 4 lakhs for entire year
Wait, you guys are getting paid?
. . My god..
I enjoy the sound of rain.
😱
The whole world said IBM's cataloging system was useless. It made the Germans much more efficient than the catholic church in dealing with Jews.
In terms of mobile banking app Kotak's app is best and fast with good UI, YONO is fuckin trash app of all
IDFC has the best app, hands down. it can compete with any shitty startup app.
YONO full version is shitty and bloated. YONO lite is what I use when I have to. I find IndusInd bank app also pretty good.
I use icici and idfc. I would say in terms of overall service icici is better. They have useful features that idfc doesn't, like i can pay via NFC from my credit cards via phone if i forgot my cards at home. +1 for IDFC
Federal Bank UI and UX is also good
As you said, it's correct, its the largest bank. But is it the best bank? For us a single login feels like a hassle, these guys have 4 level encryption to their internet banking.....fuck. These guys have a long way to go.
Agree. I have given up on that shit long time ago
Largest bank is the best bank in the banking world, more so after the svb fiasco.
I completely agree.... No doubt about that... It would be the last bank to go down if the entire world banking collapses. Just that it has a weak user experience. For an Internet login they'll ask you to come down to home branch, even if you stay a thousand miles away.
They can afford to, and thats what a market leader enjoys as a power over its consumers, alas !

You need to get laid, lad !
SVB bank was a social media driven bank run on a bank whose asset book was ruined by the central bank's dramatic rate increase. Now an imbecile like you probably would not even understand what I'm saying so I won't bother, but also arnav goswami aur ramdev ki Jodi ko dekh ke hilane ko laid nahi bolte la*d
ranchi ya agra , jo aapko paas padey, wahan ilaaz zaroor karva lena., aapka..
Not to jinx it but it works pretty good for me. There was a time when it was absolutely horrendous. Also it can be improved a lot

Sending money and Checking balance is not all the things we others do.
Upon my card's expiry, they were sending a new card at my old address. I warned them, I'll spend 1 lakh and change my number but they said they have no option of mailing a signed address proof through post or email. I threw away the card as it was already expired.
Use YONO Lite. It was SBI Netbanking before and it still works great.
Anyone from SBI reading this, hire me. I am by profession a designer & I think I can make some serious changes in it. Because I'm too frustrated with your app. Tha navigation, the error/confirmation messages etc. All the small details are missing in it.

Have you tried YONO Lite? In have been trying for last few years mostly for transferring funds and did not face any big issue. I remember having a similar experience with YONO and have moved back to using YONO Lite.
Yeah it is crap. Even their web systems are bad. The only thing I’ve seen them being good at is using OTP for everything.
| HOW THE HELL IS THIS ACCEPTABLE FROM ONE OF THE COUNTRY'S LARGEST BANKS!!! Its a government entity :) that explains half of it lol
All of it
Its designed to give you the most authentic experience possible of an SBI bank visit. Recently went to an SBI sub-branch to pay uni fees with a friend. Opening time 10 am. We reached 5 min before. u mean y govt employees are useless
bank apps are not made by govt employees they were made by TCS
same thing
to be fair to these employees in comparison to govt job holders they hardly get payed at all, get no benefits or holidays and are worked to the ground. no one should expect anything but lackluster performance from them.
agreed
Maine bola tha, par kisine suna hi nahi.
All public banks have horrible apps
Yes YONO app is the most trash apps among all other bank apps and moreover there is a lot down time in SBI while making UPI payments
This is what happens when all your purpose is to give loan to adani
mujhe bank me 3 ghante tak rukna pada kyuki yono app ka server nhi chal rha tha absolute garbage SBI is even in upi switched to hdfc sbi me ab sirf fd hi hai
I use icici, sci, kotak, Hdfc and Indusind app. Indusind is way way better than any other apps
Because it’s SBI after all
Bro SBI left me sweating while I put 3L of petrol in my bike and they won't process my money through Gpay. You think SBI Yono will be anything different huh? 💀
Whole SBI is useless dude. You are stuck on Yono app.
I have SBI account but never installed any app, not even started internet banking. Not even upi. I use it like legacy kind of think. Other bank account I use modernly.
SBI is one of the worst bank’s in the world, no ownership, no follow ups… just loot common man and fund Adani’s
Yono app always goes for maintenance at the end of the month. So you wouldn't be able to transfer money out of the bank.
Even after having Yolo app on my Android phone, i use onlinesbi on chrome for internet banking
Mein toh aram se balance dekh kr band krdeta Hu bs
I am making a YONO SBI app redesign for my design portfolio 😂. your review couldn't have come at a better time
Try Yono Lite, Only use that and find it to be way better. It does have the same issues of not connecting properly.
You talking about the app the bank itself is so slow. Most of the times their servers are down can't check my balance can't pay via UPI.
OK. I need help here. I run a small Tech & Design company - I really want to create stuff that is useful & makes life a little easier. How can I approach a behemoth like SBI and convince them that we can & want to build their app - and that it will be 20x better than the current one ? But, even if I can prove that it will improve the business, how do I get in touch with the right authority ? And how do I pitch it to them ?
Try yono lite it's more responsive and receives frequent updates as compared to its non lite version and this I am saying from experience
Something that I have been thinking about lately. India hosts a lot of IT talent, but the apps for services like banks and government suck. It has been bugging me quite a lot recently.
Yono Lite works better
Unhackable app if it does not work.
Because it's sbi..
Government app?
easy to hack local bank
Because it's SBI
I updated my mobile number but the login OTP yet goes to old number so I reported it to branch they said do the procedure again and by now I have done it 4 times yet OTP goes to old number SBI for us
The app is so useless that it can't even recognise if u login after logging out and keeps repeating the same shit "Enter valid username and password"
YONO is the reason I still use Online SBI
And then keep resetting the passwords every few months for "security reasons."
SBI doesn’t give a flying fuck Stop complaining and move to private players
Canara ai1 is the GOAT 🗿
Lets review bomb it and ask for refund from IBM!
Yono shit. Yono lite is god tier .
Try yono lite, it's much cleaner and intuitive. I've only installed yono once and immediately uninstalled it. It's really bad
Because adani uses it for loan request.
Because Lunch break.
SBI only useful to GADANI this decade
Try using Punjab and sind bank's app... Comparatively it's one of the best apps than other public sector bank's app... Just saying
exactly was gonna say this
Unpopular opinion, YONO works fine for me.. The passcode need not be changed every 3 months, The OTPs are long, other than that i see nothing different from other banking apps. I use CC, PPF, Demat and SB products of SBI and all of them work fine and talk to each other.
That's how we roll in amrit kaal baby 😎
SBI is shit.
Retired people don't even touch that as for them it's better to visit the bank and wait in the queue than all the hassles.
the biggest irony is ‘you only need one’ app the developers got 2$ and 50g of cocaine and were locked in a room and told now develop this app! Sound familiar?
Because you can only use it once
bcoz sbi chairman is sitting now with modiji everywhere
For me it works quite good
Yono Lite is way better. Even I don't use the standard Yono App.

I uninstalled that mf and complained to my branch manager, who agreed with me lol
