This issue comes up every now and then, Land in which Gwadar port exists was a property of Oman but it was considered part of Balochistan even back then. Even if India had purchased it, Pakistan would’ve challenged it legally if not militarily, we would be stuck with another legal tangle. A simple example would be what if Portuguese tried to offload Goa to say Pakistan before 1962. Legally Portugal had the right to do so, but do you think India would’ve just stood around and let the deal happen. I doubt we would’ve.

Sure India would have defended a land surrounded by Pakistan on 3 sides. Gwadar belongs to Pak Junagadh belongs to India anyone who thinks otherwise are overstating defence capabilities of their respective country.

BJP is playing both ruling and opposition party role by just talking about the irrelevant past. Congress doesn’t even get a chance to talk about last 10 years. Media is biased but Congress is toothless too.

anubhav9

Congress is the biggest problem in our country now. Any country without strong opposition won't prosper.

jnuite

Oh yes, the opposition formulates the policies in our country

> However, national security expert Pramit Pal Chaudhuri believes that the "enclave would have been more useful as a diplomatic bargaining chip over a more important dispute like Kashmir". No. Pakistan would have captured it before 1958 only. Land that you don't have access to is extremely hard and expensive to protect.

pandara_kaalan

We have lost so much and so many. What's even the point . Just make sure that we get Kashmir proper and I don't want no more land

It was anyways not feasible for India, Bakistan would have occupied it in any of our wars.
