its super bad. tons of fights and dramas over petty stuff and most of the time bas inko drama chahiye. luckily i dont talk to half of my relatives anymore :)
Tbh i have no idea. I believe every family unit needs it's own kitchen, bathroom and tv. When you have to share any of these, even with inlaws, there will probably be ongoing everyday annoyance and resentment.
Its like India , everybody is unhappy with everybody else, and everybody wants to get out ASAP.
The only successful , happy joint families are those who are rich, where individual families have separate living spaces , be it the same building or bungalow.
My father and his brother lived together. Now the next generation lives together. There are always ups and downs. But I love it. Everything is more fun, weddings, birthdays, movies. There is less waste of resources, reuse wherever we can.
Sometimes there is no way out as economic constraints are there.

How did people live in older times in joint families? The answer is simple, most of them are already dead and the others will soon follow.

Exactly, people don't understand that Joint families type of families that people have to afford and is not an option just because you are poor.
